I have 11 days until I leave for 2 weeks in Disney. So far I am not excited. I know it is because of my current circumstances but I want that Disney excitement to come.

Here is my current story. In April I tripped over a huge garden rock and ended up tearing the Achilles tendon off of my heal bone. After a few test and Dr's visits I had surgery in May. I was put in a cast and was not allowed to put weight on foot. I have basically spent the last 5 weeks in bed. Which has been a story in itself. 4 day's from today I get the cast off. WOOOHOOO and go into a walking boot for 2 to 3 months. I will be able to walk on the foot then.

So I think the Disney excitement has been squashed by the anticipation of getting out of the cast. I actually had to push the trip back because of the surgery. (originally was to leave on June 3rd) I also think I am a little worried of how much I will hurt once in the boot. I am glad I have a week between getting the cast off and going into the boot. I will be able to build up a little stamina in that week. I will have an ecv and room with a roll in shower for the trip. So that should make things a bit easier. My son knows we may have to take the trip a bit slower. (Son and I are going for 5 days then my hubby will join us for the rest of the trip) And once my hubby gets there they can go off more if I'm not feeling good.

I am sure once I get the cast off my focus will be on Disney and I will get excited.

Well I just needed to share my situation. Thanks all for reading. :)

I completely understand. Not knowing how things are going to feel after the cast comes off has got to be weighing greatly on your mind.

I know this is probably not how you envisioned the trip originally, but different doesn't equal bad. You're still going to have a great time, because it is still Disney after all! :goodvibes

Sending lots of Pixie Dust your way!! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Oh how awful for you! I'll say a prayer for you. I don't think it's odd that you can't get excited about the trip. Hopefully once you get used to the boot and have been walking a bit, you'll start to perk up about the trip.

Last Dec. I did Disney with a bad case of plantar facaetis (don't know how to spell it) and our trip was quite different than our previous trips. Still had a good time, but had to work around the extreme heel pain. to you.

Had foot surgery last summer. Spent 6 weeks non weight bearing. Went to a walking boot. The boot gets hot but the freedom to move is great. I found once I started moving with the boot I just zipped around. I think not walking and not having the freedom for soo long made me just want to move. Good luck. I went to the foot doctor yesterday and I have a stress fracture in my other foot, by my toe. He gave me a boot again.:( I leave for Disney on the 21st of July. The biggest thing to remember is stay in compliance what your doctor says, you will heal faster. Good luck and enjoy your trip.:)
