11/30 cancelled DVC cruisers - what was your compensation?

Seems our cash friends got free meals and park tickets and the 1/2 off a future cruise. We're supposedly getting the 1/2 off a future cruise but I didnt see any other bennies while we just spend 8 nights at Port Orleans.
Not only did it just "cost" us more points to stay at a non-DVC resort 11/29-12-7 -- only place open was Port Orleans/French Quarter but
we will need to "spend" more points next year when we visit VWL or loose the points!!

We rolled over our 170pts from 2001 to this year to combine for the cruise. I then had 22pts to roll over to 2003 since the cruise would have been 318pts.
It took 186pts to stay 8nights at P.O. which is more than the pts needed to stay at our "home" Wilderness Lodge.
So now we need to use the difference of 154pts by the end of next year or loose them?!
Dontcha think DVC should at least accommodate this so we dont need to burn points?
Is there really a benefit to being DVC members? This is our first time using points and it seems like we are getting crapped upon

The simple answer is no.

You went outside of DVC to DCL. IMO, the rules that apply to us should apply to you.

It seems to me that your points were put back into your use year, which actually is different then normal. If that is true and they aren't reservation points you REALLY have nothing to complain about. When we cancelled post 9/11 we lost 50% of the booked points and got squat.

The only benefit to being a DVC member is the fact that you have prepaid for your vacations.While prices rise for accomodations,yours will stay the same.Had you used your points at a DVC resort instead of a cruise,your first experience would have been much better.Even though we can use our points for many different things(cruises,trades,etc.) The best value of a point is using it t a DVC resort.Hope you get what you are looking for.

Aaaahhhh..... come on. It doesn't seem like your being taken advantage of, IMHO. Enjoy your vacations, and splurge a little next year if you need to use some points. You can always rent them on the rent/trade board and use the cash for whatever......
