We have been on four cruises. On three of them we have been seated alone. No tablemates. On the one where we did have tablemates, they were another family with 2 young kids.

BTW if you are interested in early dining, you should go right to Rockin Bar D when you get to the port and see if you can get changed. It usually works out.

I was going to try for early at first b/c of DS, but we have never ate that early. We like the late dining much better. But, if kids have to do early, I guess we'll have to swap when we board.

I hate to request to eat alone, b/c we enjoy meeting others at the tables.

Are your kids eating dinner with you?

By the way Steph ... sorry, one last thing ... if you really want early dining, then you should link to the early diners on here since their reservations are already set. That way you automatically get put on early. Just PM Kathy

You misunderstood.

First off, we have eaten both early and late. We are late eaters at home but the flow of the cruise works better for us early - not because of the kids but because of all the activities we llike and how they are timed - for all of us.

As to eating alone. We HATE that we keep getting put at tables by ourselves. We prefer to share with others and i mis-spoke. Two of our cruises, we got stuck alone. The one I forgot is that last year we sat with other Nanaheads and it was the best ever. We were worried about our kids being disruptive but really having more people with whom to interact and have fun is the best thing for our kids. I guess that's why I forgot - it was the best dinner experience we had so nothing "bad" stuck out in my mind. :rotfl:

On our mexican riviera cruise, because we didn't have the support of our nanahead friends and didn't really connect well with the folks on our cruisemeet thread we were hoping for tablemates. We almost asked head server to switch us to being WITH other people but in looking around our rotation it didn't look like it would be that easy so we didn't.

Really, stop worrying about it. DCL is the line for families and everyone there knows it.

Steph, take it easy. Regardless of what you're reading on here, we really don't hate children! For the late diners, we have quite a few kids that will be with us. In fact, this year, we are going to have a kids-only table (obviously Wyatt would be too young for that!) because they enjoy each other's company. So stop fretting ... and ... one other thing ... Melanie from last year had the exact same dilemma, and she eventually got her 18mo old into Flounders for dinner because it was less stress on HER and she and Chris could actually enjoy dinner. Something to think about.

It's good other kids will be there too. Yea, Wyatt would be to young to dine at the kid table. I must admit too, that we do eat out all the time and we sit at our table to eat dinner at home, so Wyatt does, for the most part, behave at dinner and knows the routine. BUT...he is two and you know what that means...ANYTHING Can and will happen..:goodvibes

Hey everyone...

Today is a sad day for me. My Grandmother passed away:sad1: and it's not the one I mentioned a few days ago. This is my Mom's Mother. She has been in a nursing home for about 9 years but it's still a shock. I just feel so bad for my Mother. Especially since she just lost her step mother 2 weeks ago.

Will you have kids at Flounders this sailing?

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I know you must be sad, and your mother too.:grouphug: I'll be thinking about you and your family. I know it can be stressful and sad all at the same time. We lost my grandfather two months ago too, and it wasn't expected either.

Christine - so sorry to hear about your grandmother. :grouphug: You are in our prayers.

Not this time. Our youngest is now 4 1/2. What I will tell is that she (and we) LOVED Flounders. She would probably still go there if she could. She is a very clingy child but had no problem whatsoever going to flounders. Staff there is incredible. First time in the Club she was hesitant but on our last cruise, she was better. Hoping she likes it this time too.

I have heard nothing but good about Flounders. My only concern is this..maybe you could help.

DS stays home with a Nanny at our house. So, when we go to church, he has to stay in the nursery. Problem is, he always cries when we leave him there. But as soon as we're gone, he has a great time. If he cries when we leave him at Flounders, will they allow him to stay? I know he'll be fine once he gets over the leaving part...I wasn't sure if they'd let him stay being upset. Do you know if they will?

Oh Christine I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother  Please give our sympathy to your mom. :grouphug:

yes they will. What we did was we found a counselor with whom DD could connect - that's how she does in daycare/preschool. So the counselor would take her to play, or hold her or whatever. And she'd be fine.

The one great thing is that there is a secret window (one-way mirror) you can watch through to see what happens after you leave - and check in on if you want.

Had to see who I gave the top to....

Woo hoo I gave it to me!

That's great news!!

I wish they had that mirror at church. I have to hide to make sure DS can't see me checking on him.
