Not much going on today. Just a little shopping and I'm actually gonna cook. Since Joey is never home I just don't do much cooking but he has off tomorrow so I'm going to make him homemade sauce and meatballs tonight and put it all in the crock pot tomorrow with some ribs and steak.
I think the weekend before we leave I'll make a full Thanksgiving Dinner for him. That's his favorite (besides my Lasagna). Then we'll put up the Christmas Tree and of course watch "A Christmas Story".

I have a brother and a sister that live here. Joey has no one here. Everyone else is still in Lindenhurst and West Babylon. When my parents retire they will move out here too.

We had soccer this morning too Jeff. How did Elizabeth's game go? Is the finger still doing ok? The boys played a great game 3 - 2--in our favor.

It's in the 70s so I'm headed outside to do some chores and take advantage of the beautiful day. Wash car, maybe burn some branches, etc.

I've still to catch up from the last time I was on...

Hi Dawn. The game was okay. Don't actually know who won. They play split games because they have so many girls on the teams. Her coaches are worthless, however, They give the girls no real direction. Elizabeth tends to stand and watch more than she she should and *I* am the only one who tells her (after the game) that she needs to be "in the play" more. I won't yell it during the game because those parents make me nuts. But I asked her and her friend after the game, "Don't your coaches tell you that too?" and her friend said "our coaches don't tell us anything." The three coaches coach their daughters and the other girls are on their own.

As to her finger, it's better but I have a soccer story to share about that too. Told her coaches when it happened that she can't play goalie since it was splinted and once it is not splinted anymore it needs to heal -- but that she still wanted to play. ONE WEEK after it was splinted and we had that conversation, they put her in goal. I could have wrung the coach's neck. I went over and said to him..."she can't play goalie..remember?" He said...."oh I asked her if it was okay..." Geez she's 10, you are her coach. She's going to do what you ask Have a half a brain. Ok rant of the day over. I like swimming so much better.

But you will be at the port Friday night, correct? I was hoping to put together a mini meet somewhere by the boardwalk/beach club on Friday night if anyone is there...

Christine - I'd love to get your meatball recipe. I make great sauce just like my mom's (she was Italian) but haven't been able to replicate her great meatballs so Im open for other ideas.

You never can replicate it...My DH thinks my meatballs and sauce is GREAT, but I know better because I had my grandmothers and mothers, funny, my mother does the exact same thing as me and mine are different, go figure

Not really a recipe but this is what I use group beef, veal and pork, wet bread (makes them softer than using breadcrumbs), egg and a tone of Italian seasoning. The key to getting them really soft is to just put them in the sauce raw and let them cook all day.

Not just the sauce...Stephanie and I use the same recipe for chocolate chip cookies and everyone agrees hers are better. Sarah and I make spaghetti the same and hers if definitely better. But they can't make white gravy the same as I can. Go figure!

What is a 'white gravy' ?

It's flour, crisco and milk. I think some call it milk gravy. It's also a base for homemade macaroni and cheese. I make it for the mashed potatoes with salmon patties and we also had chipped beef to put on toast--Chipped beef on toast.
