Joanna ... we too are not planning on doing DCL for the next couple of years, at least until the new ships come out. The cost savings from doing almost any other cruiseline is significant! We're going to try for the Oasis or maybe another RCCL next year, and we'll be saving a minimum of $1500 on a balcony room! If we did an oceanview, the savings are HUGE and will pay for a couple more long weekend vacations during the year.

Personally, I'm just not sold on doing a Carnival, but I'm willing to do RCCL.

I agree it would be fun to have a dis meet on another ship but we had very bad experience on Carnival awhile back, so will never do Carnival again.

Thing is you can't compare Carnival or even RCCL to DCL...

I'm hoping since its a new ship it will be nice, but the food on RCCL is tasteless compared to DCL and I hear Carnivals food is better than RCCL's food...Our friends just got back from sailing on the Freedom of the Seas...Hated it, said it was too big...going thru the Promenade was like grand central station...meanwhile it was not like that on the Explorer for me at all.

Okay, can you guys give me a rundown of the excursions you are taking. For the person keeping track of the list, it would be cool to add columns for the differnt ports and the excursions that folks are going on, so we could sign up for some of the same ones if you wanted to. Is there a better place to post this, of is this the best page?
