those pics are awesome. There is so much to see and just not enough time... Although if we cut out a few trips to WDW maybe we could see more.

Yeah right. Like that will happen. I'm afraid our Disney trips are going to be drastically reduced. I've been a passholder for ?? years but with the cost of gas it is making it very unaffordable trip for us. We use to drive down there for about $300--both ways. I figure at $5 a gallon it is $735! :scared1:

Well, anyways....Good Morning 09ers! I went to the grocery store this morning before it got busy.

I've been very busy with business lately. I've always said it may be the 11th hour but the money always comes in when I need it...it only takes faith and tenacity! ::yes::

Cool again today but the sun is out so hopefully the boys will get to swim today. Way too cool yesterday.

Christian's game was cancelled last night because the All-Stars had a meeting and the coach couldn't get there in time. A little disappointed I must say. Tonight is concession stand.

Have a good day. Have to jump to the 08 board to see if Shell got her dog!

Morning Dawn,

the price of gas has cause lots of people to cancel WDW and DCL vacations.
Greg follows all the specials every year and this year they are doing CHEAP package deals at the parks to entice people to come because they have had tons of cancellations. Europeans are still coming due to the strength of their dollar against ours.

The cruise has had the same problem, that is why they are offering resident discounts on ALL 3 day cruises this summer. That is a first!

I expect to see discounts for non residents next year as times get worse for the economy. Our gas isnt as bad as some places but is $4.25 near me but I also see many stations at $4.35.

It costs me $80 to go and see my mom and $100 for Greg to go and see his mom.:faint:
Depressing isnt it!

I am saving all our change and every one dollar bill I get towards the cruise and I will use my disney reward points to help pay for things like excursion and souvenirs on board.

It will be tight, but it looks like we will make the 08 and 09 both unless things get a lot worse, just keeping fingers crossed for everyone!!

Kathy

Kathy, I SURE hope this happens. I'm with Dawn if airfare and gas continue to go up that will be a huge deciding factor for us. It is a lot of gas for us to get there driving. Last November's trip was affordable because I got a really good deal from Southwest for airfare. The 4 of us flew for under $500 (Jackson was free... but still a great deal!!!)

We were already iffy due to my decision to work for us and our future cruising depending on how the business does.

I think they should have discounts for past cruisers too...

By the way Jaime... somehow in my rush yesterday I missed your info on the cost of airfare for you!!! That's terrible!!!

BTW... I've been watching "Anne of Green Gables" late at night on PBS... (my late night calm down after the boys are in bed) where is Prince Edward Island? Sorry to be so ignorant...

I enjoyed those shows with my girls when they were teens, I think.

Hi everyone...

Our gas went up $.05 today...we pay 1.42 a litre now...I think it is about $5.40 a gallon...I am expecting to see a big jump in food prices very soon:confused3

Melanie when I was little I lived in New Brunswick which is directly north of Maine...PEI is a small island just of the northeast coast of New Brunswick. We always went camping in PEI every summer...it is a beautiful small island...with beautiful sand beaches...the have a very long bridge now connecting PEI to NewBrunswick. It is about a 6 hour drive North East from Bangor Maine to PEI. By the way I had to look on a map to see where you lived last year:goodvibes

Melanie you got a really good deal on airfare...I would not drive if I could fly for $500:goodvibes...we lived in Alberta for a while which is on the west coast of Canada...we were shocked with how "cheap" airfare was. We went to Las Vegas for under $500 for the 4 of us....then we rent a car and drove to DL. All I can figure is our airfare is based on supply and demand...we really don't have alot of choice besides flying from Newfoudland especially in the winter months...to get to the next major city on the mainland which is Halifax...by car it would take about 25 hours...including a 8 hour ferry ride. It is a beautiful drive which my family done many times as a child but long and still pretty expensive...we have talked about driving down the east coast one day to Orlando...there are many place I would like to visit on the way...Boston...New York... just to name a few...St.John's is starting to become a poplar cruise stop in September which is pretty neat...I love watching the big ships come in...we are one of the oldest city in North America and also have our own time zone...

I have a pictures of the girls by Cabot tower on Signal Hill I took a few weeks ago...

Cabot Tower was built in 1897 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot's discovery of Newfoundland, and Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. In 1901, Marconi received the first trans-Atlantic wireless message at a position near the tower, the letter "S" in Morse Code sent from Cornwall, England

This a picture of Cape Spear the most easterly point in North America...

Melanie,
be assured Greg watches for sales of all kinds when it comes to DCL cruises, so if he sees anything for resident or non resident he will tell me and I will post it for everyone.

Usually the hard thing si, they dont offer the discounts until AFTER you have paid off the cruise, but they will refund you the difference, it just is a pain to have to of already paid it off. Usually about 4 weeks prior to the cruise they list them. So your already committed by that point.

However they changed that with the 3 days cruises this summer, they already announced EVERY 3 day will have a florida resident discount and to watch for other promotions, which means non resident rates.

If you use a TA to book they are suppose to watch for those things, but often dont because the less you pay for the cruise the less they make, so we have to watch out for ourselves.

I will let everyone know if we see any deals. Greg looks almost everyday, when he gets on the computer.

Kathy

well I have the 2nd load of wash going, will wait and dry them at the same time since I have to dry them in the laundry here.

Dogs are sleeping but soon they will wake up and then I will sit outside with them for awhile.

It is a really nice sunny day and of course I am on antibiotics that say to stay out of the sun light:worried: But I can sit under the awning and enjoy the day that way.

Nothing else happening here this afternoon, time for lunch now,

Later kathy

I almost forgot..you can actually visit Anne of Green Gables in PEI...the grounds are beautiful and the house is a museum.

Jaime,
I think with that high a gas price you'd better get a bike to ride or a motorcycle with a side car for the kiddies:lmao:

I can make fun but in Eugene the sales of bicycles has tripled the last 4 months. People are using them for short trips and have those small carts to bring kids or animals or to put groceries in.

Sales of motorcycles is way up too.

I dont blame people one little bit for buying them to save $$.

Our motorhome takes diesel which is more expensive than regular gas:eek:
Not too bad while we are stationary for the summer but in the fall when we hope to head back to Florida it is really going to hurt.

I bet we could of paid for a 7 day cruise for what we will spend on gas going back there:faint:

Kathy

well I can smell I am close to the top, maybe 2 more posts:confused3

Guess I will try for it and see who is lurking to beat me today:goodvibes

If we only got nice enough weather:confused3

I bet the will be a very expensive trip...ouch...Michelle and Trevor bought a new camper last year...they wanted it for visiting Michelle's family who live in PEI but they ended up putting it in a seasonal park about 15 minutes from here this year because of the gas prices...
