The Pixie story with the window reminded me of a memory from Hawaii...if anyone cares to hear.

Skylar was 2 and we rented a 4 door jeep cherokee. He had always been in a van--no windows to roll down. One day I caught on to him saying "up" and "down." So I would roll down the window from the driver's seat next to him when he said "down" and up when he said "up"--you get the drift. We have it on video tape. He told people about the magic window when we got home!

Okay time to vent....

The airlines here just added $50 per person fuel surcharge each way! that's $400more...that's not good when you live on a island!!! It already cost enough before...our "free" aeroplan seats last November cost me $1000 in taxes...we now only get one bag because of the weight(however they charge the same price for a 25pound child as a 200pound adult). If we want an extra bag it is $25 per bag...if that wasn't bad enough they just designed the sillest thing I have ever heard off...it's called On My Way Travel Assistance $35 each way ($280) It will allow the airline to help you smoothly rebook the next avaiable flight that got interupted or cancelled and help with extra expenses...I am sorry but has been a very long time since I flew from here and the flight was not delayed or cancelled or changed...I always thought rebooking that next avaiable flight for passengers on a flight they canceled was called customer service!

So for our cruise in 2009 it looks like we are paying at least $680 more on our flights

that is horrible!!
If the airlines start charging for customer service they will really loose business. They are having trouble filling up their flights as it is and cancelling lots of the more unpopular destinations.

I think now that they charge for the 2nd bag, people will try and take more carry on with them.

I know for the cruise you can send a box to the terminal ahead of time and it will be waiting in your room for you, then you'll have to mail it back. I dont know if its cheaper than $25 for extra bag or not???

I did hear earlier this week Delta is now charging $2 for people to buy as coke, no free pretzels or snacks either??
Of course with the security you can't bring pop or water of your own, so you even have to buy that at the airport after you go through security. so they get you to buy it either way.

at least you can bring your own snacks as long as they are in a clear baggie so they can see what it is.

Vent anytime you want!! It makes me mad to hear about this too. They are making it so hard for people to take vacations anymore.

The airlines are gone CRAZY...

...it would be easier for us to pay the extra money for our bags...at least we get 4 bags anyway...I am not sure how customs would work if I shipped a box down...


...on the bright side it is beautiful here right now sunny and 60 degrees...I know that isn't as nice as other places but I welcome it right now!

Something has to be done with transportation period! As most of you know, I haven't flown for a while because of all the problems. But now with all the extra charges they are putting on and NOT RAISING THE PRICES is ridiculous!

Evening Everyone.....work had me locked away all day for an 8 hour meeting...was a long day and on top of that Mark and I found blood sprays in 3 places downstairs. Our 16 year old westie developed a cough about 4 months ago, but only when she stood up. Vet said it was an early sign of heart disease. She was still eating and as active as she could be at her age. This blood thing has us freaked out a bit. She is going to the vet on Friday for a comprehensive exam. Thank God we have insurance on her. We have another dog and 2 cats.
We don't have kids but they sure feel like it to us.

Great camping pictures Melanie...

We were lucky we booked our flight for October before all the new surcharges. We do not mind paying more because of gas prices, but airline customer service has become so poor lately we expect the worst when we fly now and try to plan accordingly. We have decided to start packing really light and carry on the luggage. We have found that suit bags hold quite a bit.
