Good Morning!

Lots of rain, thunder, wind and lightning last night. The severe stuff still stayed off to the south of us! Still gloomy...

Nothing much going on around here today

Just got back from the lake. We took the RV over yesterday for my wife's family reunion....I ate to much...as usual!

We were planning on staying over tonight to, but it started raining and I didn't want to get a 10 ton RV stuck in the mud....so we packed it up and drove home.

NASA updated the launch schedule today and our launch date was moved to Aug. 18....one week after we fly back home.

I'm kinda bummed about it, but the kids are thrilled to be going to Jamaica. I was hoping to fly us down to the Turks & Caicos for that week, but they want more $$$ for the airfare then I'm willing to spend.

I guess one good thing about it is I won't have to decide which DVC resort to stay at. We've got a week at both Bay Lake and Old Key West, so now I'll just sell them both.

Hi!

For once I can report we had a beautiful summer day 80s and sunny. Was out beside the pool since 11:30--came in for dinner. Elizabeth came over after her nap.

Allison, how did your daughter's ears get and the recitals?

Greg, how's Janel today?

My dad and his girl friend are coming with the rest of the family for dinner tomorrow evening. Not going to overdue--planning to grill hamburgers and hotdogs, with the normal fixings.

Hi everyone!!

Greg - I hope your wife is feeling better. Sounds incredibly painful.

DD's ear ache is slowly easing. It was swimmer's ear. She's got drops and then motrin for the pain. The dance recitals went really well. Only glitch is that she refused to dance in the finales both nights. She's developed these anxiety issues lately and really gets herself all worked up. Last night was a full blown melt down. Tonight I told her to get through her two dances and she didn't have to do the finale. She's more angry at herself for not doing them. I don't understand. I'm hoping its a hormonal thing that will go away. But she danced incredibly in the regular dances and to be honest, that's all the matters. The finale is just everyone in whole show on stage. You really can't even see the kids they are so jam packed so it's not like she was messing up other kids by not being there. We all survived.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's way too wet here. We're praying for a dry day tomorrow so DH can go riding.

Allison, glad the dancing went well. Ugh, to the swimmer's ear. I have to put drops in the boy's ears everytime they swim during the summer or they will get it too!

Janel is still taking pain meds, but seems to be improving. She's not black and blue....so that's a good sign.

Allison, glad to hear DD made it through dance recital. Raising daughter's is much more challenging then raising boys!

We have lots of great photos and i will share some of the best soon. I just have to do alot of stuff today. I will get to them soon.

Had a great time, it did sprinkle a couple of times and rained one night but it dries up so fast in the desert country it was no big deal.

We had a group of 9 people and of course our 2 mutts.
Minnie loved it so much we had to fight to get her back in the RV at night. She was a totally different color from all the dirt and dust, so she really got a scrubbing last night.

Pixie was like i thought, pretty skiddish of a new place but she would run in and out and towards the end of the trip she was staying out more. Both loved chasing chipmunks and minnie chased a deer out of camp one morning which scared me. I was afraid she would go too far into the woods and I would loose her. Thankfully with my calling and going after her she returned all proud of herself.

We did have 3 crashes. My brother Dave flipped once and had a few scrapes and hit his elbow hard, but not hard enough to keep him from riding again.
His wife, Joan got thrown off her quad once too and has a sore backside.

Greg found a hidden stump in the middle of the trail , but it had been covered but it had been covered by dirt. It tipped him over and he hit hard. Bloodied his nose, scraped under the nose, now he cant shave there so is growing a moustache for a while
He loosened 3 or 4 teeth, bruises the size of a football on his inner thighs and butt along with some scrapes. His helmet took a real beating. Of course as sore as he was, he was out riding for the evening ride too the same day

Over all a great trip. I had everything covered with dust in the RV so when we got home at 5:30 last night we had to clean everything including bedspread, comforters, sheets, clothes, rugs, which was 7 loads of

I was so tired I didnt even get my shower until this morning.

Now i need to go to the store to get a few things and then i can relax a bit.

You do know that those quads have a "variable throttle"?.....you don't have to go full speed all the time!

Glad no one was hurt to bad!

Good to have you back.....the board has been kinda slow with out you.

Greg in front of the ice cave. Most of the year this cave is filled with ice. In old days they use to come and get ice out of here and take to town for people to keep food cold. You can feel the cold air from about 75 feet in front of it and it gets colder as you get closer.
