11/27/04 the sequel.....

Hi all! I've been looking into the excursions and we've narrowed it down to 3 - the submarine, Trunk Bay at St Johns and the dolphin encounter, anyone done these excursions? worked the price out at $900 for 3 of us havnt told DH yet though !!!

I thought I would check in since I haven't posted in a while. The kids are out of school and loving summer. Swim lessons, soccer camp and baseball have started and luckily the weather has been pretty good.

I keep postponing my diet. I have no idea what I'm waiting for. Oh well, maybe Monday will be the big day........

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

Talk to you soon.

Gailyn:smooth:

Good to hear from ypu Gailyn! I will admit I have not been as active on this thread as I was on my last cruise thread! Sorry y'all. My kids have been out of school for a month now, but my older 3 are in Colorado with my parents for the whol summer! I miss them tremendously, but I know they are having fun, and that helps. I am in the process of trying to put together a last minute trip to the world for 2 weeks from now. I really need a vacation, I cant hold out until my September cruise! I am trying to do it as cheaply as possbile, so right now I am debating on whether or not I want to use priceline or hotwire, or keep my passholder rate at POP. OR stay at Hotel Royal Plaza in DTD...........deciions decisions..........has any of y'all stayed at HRP? opinions?

Amanda - I attended a conference at Hotel Royal Plaza last summer, and I wrote an article with a bunch of photos on that hotel for MousePlanet. The room was nice enough, and it had a big roman tub that I didn't use but it would have been nice if I'd been there with someone special! The public areas are nice, too. What I don't like though, is the transportation. Unless you have a car, I wouldn't stay there - and even then it's not as easy getting to the MK as it would be from any Disney resort.

Check out mouseplanet.com and then at the "site map" section look for my column - "Everything but the Parks" and you'll get a list of the articles I've written. There are at least a few on DCL as well. The HRP article was probably last Aug, Sep or Oct (2003).

Well Sue, Gee thanks! I was up later than I wanted to be reading some of your articles! LOL THe one on HRP was very helpful, and finally helped make my decision to the POP! The transportation issue was the big kicker! Thanks for pointing me in the direction of mouseplanet. So, I will be taking my 1 year old to the world for 5 days alone! :scared1: What a nut I am huh? I am just stressed over here, and I need a vacation! SO here we come!

I'm trying to decide between these three excursions in St. John (I know, I know...not even 90 days out yet and I'm obsessing!):

1). Champagne Catamaran Sail and Snorkel ($90.00 for 6 hours)

2). Buck Island Sail and Snorkel ($50.00 for 3.5-4 hours)

3). Captain Nautica's St. John Snorkeling Expedition ($65.00 for 4 hours)

I would especially enjoy hearing from those who have done one of the above expeditions-never been snorkeling in the ocean before, but I'm very excited to try!! Also as of right not, I am planning on attending the expedition without any family as our group is trying to plan expeditions per immediate family, and my DH will not be able to join us for the cruise. I would like the most bang for my buck!

Thanks for any ideas!
:p IVY :p

I think our group is doing the Champagne Catamaran Sail and Snorkel. We did it about 2 years ago and loved it. It is long - 6 hours - and very nice. The catamaran is a good size - about 40 people. I've been on others that were huge and I didn't like them. This one makes for a nice sized group. The sail over and back is relaxing and you get a good view of the islands. Food and drinks were very good - a real meal with several salads and nice sandwiches and pretty much an open bar. They go to Honeymoom Beach, which is nice. Anchor in the bay just off the beach, and you can snorkel from the boat or swim ashore to enjoy the beach or both. The beach is very isolated and there was no one on it except people from our group. You can see the Caneel Bay Resort that the Rockefellers built from the boat and beach.

There was a thread a week or so ago raving about the Captain Nautica excursion. Sounded really good, but it was a lot of snorkeling. Probably great for someone really into that, but since this was going to be your first try at snorkeling, it might be too much!

Don't know anything about the Buck Island one.

We will be on board with six children (yes, all six are ours--ages 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 12). We're celebrating our 15th anniversary and decided to test DCL to see if we wanted to make it a regular event for the kids. Five of our children were recently adopted so they have never seen the ocean, let alone a cruise ship, so it's an exciting time for them--they've watched the DCL CD at least two dozen times and I believe I have most of the narration memorized. I'm looking forward to the cruise and maybe matching some of the faces to the names that I've been seeing on the postings!

Welcome aboard Curt, you & your family will love the cruise!

Thank you. We'll be in 2502 and 2504--way to the front (probably not the right nautical term).
