11/27/04 the sequel.....

We cancelled DC because the boys were very unhappy about missing Universal/IOA. With a deal I got from Paramount Travel we got four nights (Monday-Thursday) at Royal Pacific for $162/night. With the FOTL policy for people staying on site - it was worth it to me. Even buying a five day pass for each of us it was only $100 dollars more than one day at DC. I thought my DS-Nick (9) was really psyched about going to Discovery Cove but he really wanted to go to Islands of Adventure and ride Dr.Doom. What can I say. I am going to save DC when we go just to Orlando for a week to ten days. My DS - Zacch (11) wasn't too sure of the dolphin swim anyway. I was thinking it would be a great "Learning experience" for the school excuse. Oh well better luck next time. I should just go myself and let them ride Dr. Doom:earseek:

SUrely there is a "science" lesson in the Dr Doom ride???huhuhuh ;) What goes up must come down?? :teeth:

Hi folks! After a long holiday weekend, I can finally get back to my friends on the DIS boards. NJ Cruisers--thank you for the advice and offer to help with St. Thomas information. Right now we're looking at Coral World and the beach, but that could change at any moment. With our range of ages and interests, its pretty difficult to find things that everyone can agree on--so we're staying close to the beaches on St. Maarten and CC. Since I'm a rookie, I'll let you "veterans" decide on a meeting place, I'll check my map to make sure I know where I'm going, and the entire flock of us will be there. Good to see us near the top of page 1 again--it must be a sign that the time is getting closer! :hyper:

Welcome Jeff!

Be sure to post your groups ages so we can add them to the list.

Sounds like Castaway Cay has survived so far. I was hoping there wasn't too much damage. That would really be a bummer if we wouldn't have been able to stop there.

Hope everyone had a good week.

Hi, Jeff!! Just wanted to let you know that part of my family (Terri, Todd, Moriah, Micah, and Matt) lives in Dayton, OH too...another "small world" moment! Where are you flying out of?

Wanted to update our "info"-we will all be flying in on November 26th and staying at the Clarion Hotel Airport (good deal on Priceline) for one night. Still trying to decide how best to arrange transportation to port and back (2 vans? a van and a towncar??).

Just sent my second cruise newsletter to the family last night...eveyone is definitely getting excited!!

Anything that anyone would recommend covering for first time cruisers that you wish you would have known on your first cruise? (Hmmm...sounds like a good title for a thread! ;) )

Can't wait to start sailin'!
:p IVY :p

P.S. I'm still interested in starting a preteen/teen email "buddy" system prior to the cruise...let me know!

Hi Ivy…. It’s a “Small World” indeed. We are flying out of Dayton on the 25th direct flight to Orlando. We (my family of 5 and my parents …see below for ages) are going to stay at WDW – POP till time to Cruise. We decided to rent 2 cars with budget and dropping off/pickup at PC….. We are going to return back to WDW and stay a few nights at the CBR. We have tickets to go to the MVMCP. We are still undecided on which shore excursions to do. If anyone out there would like to recommend some for our group, we are open.

We have never cruised before or seen WDW at Christmas time, everyone is so fired-up here. The hurricanes have taken a notch of excitement down with the beating FL is taking Hope all you in FL stay safe.

WE ARE Myself 42, Cindy 43, Jason 16, Kyle 8 and Aaron 7 traveling with my parents Ed and Sue mid sixties.

Bye for now
Jeff

Hi Jeff. Welcome!!! You're going to love cruising and probably get as hooked as most of us.

Excursions - what does your family like to do? Is everyone interested in the same things? Is there something that anyone has been dreaming about ... snorkeling, para sailing, etc? Now is the time to try it.

With a 5 year old we usually do beaches on our own - cheaper and we all enjoy the beach. But this time we're going to try one snorkeling excursion - Dobloon in St Thomas. Looks like a fun one for all ages. We'll go to the beach at the port in St Maarten.

Just checking in! We survived Frances, but boy was that a loooong storm!!! Minor damage to fence, screen and soffet on our house. We did not loose power, but I lost my DSL connection and won't be back up til this weekend. Posting from work! Hopefully by next week we will be back to normal. Lots of people still without power. I work in Vero Beach, and the damage down here is much worse than where I live (Melbourne). I am totally out of touch with the disboard happenings.

The one thing I did see that really saddened me was Traceycoopers loss and the loss of little Sophie. Emmasgrammy is such a neat lady - what a terrible time for them! Makes our storm experience insignificant!

izzinmac: I'm thankful that you and your family fared okay from Frances. I was very concerned for you and all of the folks who had to go through these two horrific storms. Although we have friends who live in Gulf Shores, AL, I'm thankful that it appears Florida will be spared Ivan. I'm just prayerful that wherever Ivan hits, it will have lost power and cause minimal damage and problems.
