11/27/04 the sequel.....

The murder mystery train ride dinner was a lot of fun! We had a group of 41, so we took up most of 1 of the 5 train cars. We left at 6:30, the waitresses took our drink and dinner order, then the train pulled out. They had a cracker, cheese, grapes & melon plate on the center of each table for 4. After that we all had a bowl of sweet potato with ginger soup - surprisingly I liked it! The salad course was a choice of fruit cocktail or a basic garden salad with honey mustard dressing. Entree was a choice of prime rib, bacon wrapped chicken breast, or salmon. We had all 3 at our table, and everyone said their meal was very good. Dessert was white chocolate mousse in a chocolate cup.

During the 3-4 hours we were on board the train rode north, then sat for a bit before returning south. It was rocky on the train - a cruise ship is much more stable, lol! The actors took turns presenting each scene in each of the 5 cars - generally 2 actors at a time would be present. The story was an old Italian mafia family, where someone was going to be murdered for stealing money from the father of the family. Other family members were the wimpy son, his nagging wife, the mistress the wife hired to keep him occupied, and younger daughter (sister to the wimpy son), daughter's fiance, and a psychiatrist. The dialogue was funny, and they improvised a bit to play off the audience, which made it extra funny. Near the end we had to fill out our papers saying who we thought was the murderer, what their motive was, and what were the clues that led us to that conclusion. 1 correct person in each car won a prize - and it was a friend at my table. She won a certificate signed by the cast, and a coffee mug. During the quiet moments we had gag gifts for the person retiring, and she had to explain each one to the crowd since there were some spouses and out of town guests present who wouldn't "get it", lol!

As far as I know this is the only murder mystery dinner train in Florida, and it's located in Ft Myers about 3 hours from wdw. I wouldn't recommend it as a trip from wdw, but if you're ever spending time near Ft Myers definitely consider it. I don't know if kids are allowed or not - I didn't see a single one last night.

Sue that sounds real entertaining. I wish we had something similar available here.

I'm sure that this will come as a suprise, but darcimborcherding can just be Darci.

Just got back from a Spring Break trip to Disney World. It was so fun to see the Disney Cruise line buses. My DDs and I really got into pin trading. Can't wait to collect some more on the cruise. We are thinking we will have a big party at our house when we hit the 200 day mark. Sometimes I wonder how we will make it another 230+ days!!!!

We are thinking of staying at the Radisson. Have we finalized a get together for the night before??

Darci,
I'm glad that you had a nice trip!! How was the weather and the crowd??? It is snowing and cold today in Ohio. I can only hope to live vicariously through others (LOL)!

Tanya and Amanda,
It would be nice for the kids to get to know one another before the cruise. Nicole is in kindergarten. She's a little shy and takes awhile to warm up before she's willing to try new things or places. She loves ice skating, gymnastics and soccer. She does a lot of swimming in the summer.

Matthew is going to be 5. He is in nursery school. Matt does not have a shy bone in his body! He is very comfortable walking into a group and meeting new friends. He likes T-Ball, soccer, and loves to swim. He carries his matchbox cars wherever he goes.

The kids are both out with Dad this morning, which is why I have time and the peace and quiet to be on the boards LOL. I'll ask them if they'd like to meet some friends from the cruise. They both love to dictate e-mail messages to my parents and others who live far from us.

Are you thinking of doing any excursions??? We are thinking about doing the Anguilla Dolphin and Stingraty Encounter from St. Martin. I'm just starting to research.

We are staying at the Ron Jon Resort before the cruise, but will have a car if there is a pre-cruise meet on Friday!!

Dad is home and we're off to see Scooby Doo II..........
I

I think it would be wonderful if we could get the kids to know each other a little before the cruise.

My Sara is in K also. She also loves gymnastics and swimming. She is also a budding artist! She is not at all shy, she is the leader in every group.

Ian turned 5 in January, he is alittle more inhibited than Sara at first. He also likes hotwheels, but loves Power Rangers (they are Disney now you know). His first love is probably bugs, the plastic variety mostly.

I will see about getting them to do email with me. Maybe we can exchange pics of them on computer as well. If I can figure out how;)

My email is nursetanya1973@yahoo.com

We will probably stay at Radisson, but we'd like the Ron Jon. How are you getting to the port without the shuttle service?

Tanya

PS. We are in NW Indiana, weather here has been up and down continually as well.

Sue, that train ride sounds like a blast! I did the Murder Mystery Dinner at the Grosvenor Resort in DTD and thought it was a lot of fun. :)

Welcome to the group Tanya! :sunny:

WEll y'all I have 4 hooligans that you can choose from! LOL
CJ will be 9 when we cruise. SO far I havent seen any possible pen pals in his age group? He is a very well mannered child and my biggest helper! Last year he didn't really have anyone to buddy up with pre cruise either. ANy boys this age going? He will be in 4th grade.
Taylor will be 8 and in the 2nd grade when we travel. She is very highspirited and a very girly girl! ( Do you blame her with 4 borthers?) lOL She had 2 penpals last time and absolutely loved ti!

Max will be 5 when we cruise and in K. He is very shy and he would love to know someone before we cruised. He did not have a pal last time. And the last litlle fellow is a wee one! LOL

We will probably stay at Radisson, but we'd like the Ron Jon. How are you getting to the port without the shuttle service?

We're renting a car so we don't have to worry about the shuttle. You can get a shuttle (for a fee) from the Ron Jon Resort to the port.

We are probably going to stay near MCO the night be4 the cruise. I am trying to talk my aunt into joining us along with my Grandma. I would love it, but we will see I guess.
I am sooo happy I got tix to see Madonna in July! Yippeee:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The weather was great for our Spring Break trip to Florida. Not too hot and not too cold.

Sounds like we have lots of kindergarteners going. I too have a DD Lexi who is in kindergarten. She is very artsy, dances and just started cheerleading. She is pretty energetic and will have no problem getting acquainted.

My oldest DD is Karli. She is 9. She is a little more shy. She too is very artsy and dances and will be starting cheerleading too. She also is a dancer.

My youngest Camryn is 4. She is a little shy. She is the family Diva. I have never seen such attitude!!! I guess that comes from trying to get noticed around here! LOL!!

I know my daughters would love pen pals. I will set up email accounts for them and post the addresses. I'm sure she would even email whoever had the 9 year old boy. I think it would be good to atleast know someone ahead of time.

DARCI

I have a dd aged 9 she will just be 10 when we cruise, she would love to make some friends before we cruise, she can be quite shy when she doesnt know someone, but is her usual nutty self once she gets to know you!! she loves dancing and drama.:wave2:

My son Matt will be 5 when we cruise. So far I see 2 other 5yr old boys - Ian and another Matthew. Let's be sure to trade pictures when the time gets closer and arrange a meet on the first or second day.

This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise, DS Matt's 3rd cruise. Rick and I have been on 15+ cruises - someday I have to count them again. We sailed on Carnival a couple weeks ago - with 8 family members. It was lots of fun. I just love cruising.
