Hi Jeff: About 5 hours depending on how many stops you make. We'd love to see all of you! There are several hotels near campus. Let me know if we can be of any help! Go State! BTW - we're going to a Mich State v U of M hockey game tonight at Joe Louis (home of the Detroit Red Wings).

Jan

i just made reservations at the Marriott that is (I believe) nearly on campus..and in "town" I figure it fills up quickly during home football weekends so I'd rather have the ressies now just in case we decide to go. I'm guessing we will make the trip unless something happens in our lives to prevent it!

Good Morninig everyone!!!! Hope everyone has a great day!!! Since this will be our first Disney cruise, and first family cruise, I have been spending a lot of time going through posts here on the Dis and on Cruise Critics. Also reading my new Passporter which came yesterday. Gotta love those Passporters!!!! Anyway, could you guys share some of your experiences on the shore excursions? Which ones have you done and what did you like. Also it looks like you have to book them 75 days out? Is that right? I have got the whole parks thing figured out, but I am going to have to rely on some of you cruise vets now. LOL

Thanks

The best advice I received for St. Thomas was to join Sunny Liston tours. His web is www.sunnylistontours.com. We are booked to be with his company for the day. I liked the fact he would "take care of you" for the day. Shopping, tour and beach and then back to the ship just before sailing. I know that alot of the bananaheads went altogether on tour last year.

Of yet, I haven't really found the same for St. Maarten. Most of the tours either are short only a couple hours long, go to Orient Beach, etc. So far I think we may take the Under 2 Flags Island Tour and then hit the boardwalk/beach on Front St. Some have done the Regatta and said that they enjoyed that.

Piping in about excursions: I've heard from Jan how great Sunny Liston's St. Thomas tour is, but didn't try it because Tyler gets grouchy if he's in the heat for more than a couple hours and just ends up wanting to go back to the kids' club. ;) But we did the Atlantis submarine excursion in St. Thomas and it was absolutely amazing! It's pretty expensive, but truly worth doing once. We went 70 feet below the surface and it was really cool how colors disappear at that depth! Everybody wearing red got to see their clothes turn dark purple! Sharks and sea turtles swimming by, tons of different kinds of fish. Very large window so everybody can see it all. I'm even considering doing it again because we both loved it so much, BUT I think this time I'd like him to experience the tram ride up Paradise Point (I think that's what it's called). Did that last month when I cruised without him and the view is SPECTACULAR! They have a great drink called a Bushwacker at the little open bar/restaurant at the top. If you do the trip up the mountain, I'd suggest not booking the Disney excursion because it's literally across the street from the pier. About a 5 minute walk--maybe more depending what position we're docked in, but still manageable.

Good afternoon!

Just got back from grocery shopping and retrieving DD from cheerleading camp hosted by the high school cheerleaders. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: It's so cute to see those little girls trying to learn the moves.:cutie:

I made the mistake of mentioning to the mom sitting next to me that I used to coach high school cheer & dance -- a woman in front of me turned around and asked if I'd be interested in helping with the Jr. Tackle cheerleaders & pom squad. I'm thinking to myself, "I can't even keep up with the DIS -- how would I do this???:confused3 " I told her I'd think about it. . .:headache:

Jess did say that the whole thing reminded her of the Disney Cruise.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Time to clean the house and do some laundry!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Have a great day everyone!

Cheri:banana:

P.S. It's about 6 degrees & sunny -- feelin' quite warm out there!:lmao:

Hi all.....just popping in to say morning......

I know when Kathy isnt around she gets grouchy:rolleyes1 if we start falling to the bottom of the page so tryin to keep things bumped up.

Denise,
I dont get grouchy!! :confused3 I get MEAN!!! Then I go for that whip I have warned you guys about last cruise:woohoo:
.

Glad to see lots of posts here while I was gone:goodvibes

Well I survived my first time riding the quads, what a relief. I only made 2 serious mistakes, but 2 isnt bad for a first timer considering all the miles I rode. I was trying to go around a big puddle but I slid in the sand and went right into it, I just keep pressing the throttle and came right backout. I was so thankful it was only about 5 inches deep or I could of got stuck. You dont drive through something you cant tell how deep it is. some of thise dips are a few feet deep!!!
Then once I panicked as I slid some and did the WORST thing you can ever do reguarding safety, I put my foot down!!!!
That is the wayyour foot can get under the wheel and break you ankle and leg in a zillion places and the bike will ride right over you. NOT GOOD!!! I knew this but from riding motorcycles in my younger days I am sue to putting that foot down when you lean. Any riders out there know what I mean.
So I gotta break that habit and i will do ok.

It was a lot of fun, but I can already tell that by morning I will be visiting my best friend, Mr. Ben Gay for some relief!!!:lmao:

Hi everyone, Just thought I would stop by and say hello. We had a very nice time today with Jan and Dave. We had lunch and then we visited for about 2 hours. We met at a good 1/2 point for us. It was nice to see them again:)

Jeff-I hope you and your family decide to come to Michigan for a visit. Maybe we can all meet and have lunch- a mini DIS meet. Jan was telling us you guys may come in September. We live just over an hour from East Lansing.

I hope everyone has a good night and a nice Sunday.

If you guys do all get together, can I join you since I'm in Lansing too?! ;) Or is that rude of me to ask?

Jeff: The Marriott is in the "heart" of East Lansing/MSU.

Lorna: It was wonderful seeing you, John, Connie and the girls. Just loved their bears!

Holly: Of course you can join us for the mini-DIS meet in September. Not rude at all!!

Just came back from the MSU-U of M hockey game - tie.

We're meeting my sister and brother and their families for lunch today then to my brother's house ... and I'll finally get to see my cake! Will post pics later today. Hey Wendy, did you get my text message? :rotfl2:

It is a 3-layer cappacino chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse, the top of the head, eyes and hands are rice crispies, and all surrounded by Bill's mom's chocolate chip cookies (the best, I might add!).

You see, where some of you have a Disney addiction ... mine is Sesame Street!

It is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!!! What do you think??

Hi there, Nothing too exciting going on today. I may take the kids swimming at the higschool. They have a great kids area.

Shell-You guys should come up too! :thumbsup2 That would be great! Is your birthday today? If so Happy Birthday. Can't wait to see pictures of the :cake:

Holly-Yes for sure you are welcome to come! I am looking forward to meeting you.

Jan-It was great to see you guys too! We had a great time. Sounds like you had a late night last night.

Talk to you all soon.

Lorna:wave2:

Those are great Bill, I am so impressed with your work.
I mean that was really a cool cake.

Shell, no text message here yet, I will wait and see if it comes.

Shell I guess we were posting at the same time. VERY Cute cake. Have a silly question for you since you are a Sesame Street fan...Do you happen to have the Sesame STreet Little poeple set? It was made back in the 70s. I had one growing up and it was my MOST favorite toy. My mom did not keep it:furious: I really wish she would have kept it so my kids could have enjoyed it. I have even checked on Ebay, but I am always out bit. Anyways just was curious. I always get teased when I talk about getting it off of Ebay:confused3

Talk to you later Lorna:firefight
