Just wanted to say Hi. Welcome to all the new families. I've been busier than a one legged butt kicker around here. I guess that is what I get for having one SLOW secretary (me) for two attorneys. AGh. Miss you all. We are getting a heat wave of 55 degrees today. Then back to the deep freeze for us. Our yard still looks like a war zone and the neighbors are begining to complain. Thank god I live in a rental house. The city just finally hired someone to come around and pick up trees and branches city wide. They expect to be done within the next oh 3 months. They said if we stacked all the branches up in a 20 mile area it would stand 47 feet high. That's saying something. But compared to FL and the twisters we are in great shape. Kathy cuddo's to all of you in FL. I pray for your daily.

Hugs & Kisses.

Holly, how poor did the plumber make you?

A woman after my own heart ...

*chuckle* Thanks, Woo. What's your specialty?

I'm sick with a sinus infection. Or at least I think it is. Whatever it is, I need sleep! I've been waking up in the middle of the night in pain for the past few days and unable to get back to sleep. *argh* Finally broke down this morning and got a doc appt for tomorrow.

Oh, so we're also having a heat wave. 63 degrees for the high today, which should do a wonderful job of melting all the ice-packed streets... I know, I'm a dreamer. :lmao:

*wave* Have a great day!

Brandie

Hi Dawn,

All the snow is missing us, but we have the same temps you have. Really sucks. Furnace won't shut off. Pipes froze overnight. Most faucets were working, all except cold in bathtub and cold in kitchen sink. Cold in bathtub started flowing again tonight. Must be the heat wave we have (2 degrees right now) that got it flowing. :rotfl2: Now I only have the kitchen sink cold water that I'm waiting on. Plumber is coming in the morning. Hate to pay a couple hundred bucks to have them thaw pipes for only 1 sink. Sure hope that's not what it costs! Maybe I'll get lucky and it will magically start working like the bathtub one did. :confused3

Holly, can feel your pain about plumbers coming-we just had a plumber leave because of leaking pipe under the kitchen sink.....to the toon of $200.00  . But at least now I can have cold water again and the ice machine works :yay:

Stay warm y'all....

*chuckle* Thanks, Woo. What's your specialty?
Presidential history ... first ladies ... first families ... first pets ... family life stuff mainly. In other words, what types of people have always run our country and what was it like for the person, not the party? It really opens your eyes to every person that we vote for (I originally wrote "every man" then remembered that Hillary is in this time. See Bill? I can say her name without hurling :rolleyes1)

Tonya, good to hear from you. Glad your all doing ok.

Shell, where is da mutt these days??
Been pretty quiet around here without his barking!!:lmao:

The weather man just said mid 70's by the weekend:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Wish i could share with some of of the warmth with you guys.
But since I can't, I will enjoy it extra for you!!:cloud9:

Who's your current favorite? I had a schoolgirl crush on Teddy Roosevelt until I read the recent biography on him and found out how racist he actually was. Quite shocking. Never got that part from school. And it went beyond his distate for hyphenated Americans, too. :confused3

My grandmother and mother used to give me grief about getting a History degree. They didn't think I could use it for anything other than teaching originally. That degree has actually gotten me really good jobs in IT. So as a joke back, I started collecting old computers of all different types and prices ranges just so I could say I was using my degree! See, I have a museum of computing at my house! ;) My mom finds this hilarious. Oh, and mom also works in IT, at the Little Rock Air Force Base.

Just to make sure you realize how fully geekish I am, I married a geek husband. Lately, he's gone over to the Dark Side of sales, but it is just to get his feet wet and give him some perspective for that side of the house. The ooky side. :lmao:

However, Hubby (Jeremy) is a full-on geek. If you want to talk other than computers, you'd have to talk about Japan or in Japanese. He adores Japanese art, architecture, etc. I agree that Japan is an amazing culture, but I can't speak tonal languages for squat. In college a long time ago, I traded Mandarin classes for food with a apartment neighbor from China. I had my tutor rolling from how I massacred just "Hello" and "Thank you." Huber actually is learning Japanese during his commute to and from work.

Oh, and Huber (which is what I call him) is an artist. He makes landscapes on his computer:

But he'll deny to his dying breath he's creative. :confused3

Ok, back to work! :surfweb:

I have several for different reasons: Ronald Reagan is the all-around best ever, as a person, as a politician, as a leader. Love Cal Coolidge, just because. Ya gotta love an a****** sometimes :rotfl2:! And Grace was such an awesome person. I like to speculate on James Buchanan (he was, ya know :rolleyes1 ...). And of course Chester Arthur. Nah, just kidding on that last one. Wanted to see if you were really reading this :lmao: .

Maybe I owe you one. Weve been butt deep in homework with Hunter. Over two hours last night, don't they realize these kids needs lives? Ok that the parents have no lives with homework like this?

Wow. Those are some interesting choices. Not too many people remember the older Presidents. You don't like Hayes? My US History teacher in high school had a crush on Grover Cleveland. Perverse to me.

Brandie, ask DH if I like sushi, does that give me points on the japanese scale.

Shell, that Bday is rapidly approaching, whats Bill getting ya??

*chuckle* I would guess the answer would be if you eat his sushi for him, you'll get brownie points... Let's just say he isn't an adventurous eater. :thumbsup2 He'll eat shrimp rolls, but anything more and he :snooty: turns up his nose.

Hi everyone,
Linda, I finally got to see the cookbook. AWESOME JOB:thumbsup2
Thankyou for doing this. And thanks to everyone who contributed your recipes, they all look so good!! I will try to do one each week when I can.

Tonight we had sloppy joes.

well we did a good job of keeping us bumped up today.

Kathy

Hey Woo, if you like presidents, maybe you could come visit this summer? I know where Martin Van Buren is buried, and where silent Cal was born and where um . . somebodyorother was sworn in as president after somebody else died in office . . . oh and Chester A. Arther went to Union College where I went too, one year.

Tonya SO nice to see you, babe! Dimples keeps asking about you! Glad to hear you're ok.

Authors, your cookbooks will be in the email tonight. Thank you all!

Here's one of my favorite Silent Cal stories:

President Calvin Coolidge and his wife allegedly visited a government farm one day and were taken around on separate tours. Mrs. Coolidge, passing the chicken pens, inquired of a supervisor whether the lone rooster was sufficient, given the many hens in the chicken flock.

"Yes", the man said, "the rooster works very hard."

Mrs. Coolidge then asked, "Really? The rooster works very hard? Every day?"

"Oh, yes," the man said. "Dozens of times a day."

"Interesting!" Mrs. Coolidge replied, "Be sure to tell that to the President!"

Some time later the President, passing the same pens, was told about the roosters — and about his wife's remark. "Same hen every time?", he asked.

"Oh, no, a different one each time," the supervisor replied.

"Tell that," Coolidge said with a sly nod, "to Mrs. Coolidge."

Brandie & Okie: $364.50!!!!!!! :headache: But the good news is that the pipes didn't burst, the plumber only had to unfreeze. And everything works now. Lesson learned. When it gets below zero, leave the faucets on trickle! :sad2:
