11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Great! I'm so glad you found it! I was so excited yesterday when I realized that I could stay at WL for only $36 more than what I had already paid. Plus, the resort we were staying at didn't have any room only specials left anyhow. So, it worked out great. I didn't realize that I could stay at AKL for less that WL, but I think we'll stick with what we've already booked. I've heard great things about WL too--especially when it's decorated for Christmas. I hope the next 6 1/2 weeks flies by!

Wilderness lodge is really great. When we go my dd always finds stuff to explore. If you are going to splurge on a meal I highly recommend Whispering Canyons, but call now for priority seating as it fills fast. We always go for the familystyle all you can eat option and the even boxed up all the leftovers that end up on the familystyle plate when we were there a few weeks ago. It is good food and the kids love it when we go there because they have "pony races" and Ketchup deliveries that are hysterical.

And we were on property yesterday for Breakfast at the Polynesian and they have started putting up the Xmas decorations so hopefully they will be done by time you arrive.


Very glad so many of you were able to get some great deals....I know there is a lot of talk on the news here about needing to get Heads in Beds at all the area hotels this holiday season.

Thanks for telling me about Whispering Canyons. I've actually heard good things about it before but didn't realize it was at WL. Would it be worth our time to eat there on the day we arrive? We had planned to let the kids swim for a couple of hours before going to MVMCP, but maybe we should try getting reservations for lunch there instead? Let me know what you think. We won't even get to the resort until noon or after because our flight doesn't come in until 11:00 a.m. on the 21st.

Plutoluvsfifi (Linda) and her DH love Wilderness Lodge and have stayed there numerous times. I know they stayed there when they got married at WDW. She has told me about the Christmas decorations also and they sound incredible. We have had lunch at Whispering Canyon. It's a lot of fun. The wait staff are a riot and make sure you ask for ketchup. (This is advice from Linda, we never knew the ketchup trick when we went.) I hope it's Heinz ketchup-delivered straight from Pittsburgh!

The bracelets are lime green, have Mickey Mouse head on them and Disney font.

They come in 3 sizes:
Adult which is about 9 inches
Youth which is about 8 inches
Toddler which is a little smaller than 7 inches

They will be 80 cents each plus if you want me to mail them to you in advance then send me and extra $1 for postage (guessing that will be enough).

Welcome! I was just going to suggest that you check out our group website. Stacie will let you know what the details of it are and will post your family's information on the site after she receives it. We are doing a DIS meet and Fish Extender gift exchanges. We're also doing a gift exchange at the DIS meet for those that want to participate. For that one, you just bring a wrapped gift and take a wrapped gift. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I think it's too late to join in on the FE exchange. Someone else just recently joined us and are just going to hang their FE out and see what happens.

I think that's about all that we have planned as a group. I can't believe you wouldn't want to sit and read through every single post. It would sure make the next six and half weeks fly by!

Welcome Glad to have another family with older teens. My DD will be happy to know she isn't alone. Although I am not sure if she will be going to the teen meets yet or not. She looks like she isn't shy but she can be very shy when it comes to meeting people.

At our DIS meet we are doing a gift exchange, if you are interested. You bring a small item, maybe around $5. If you bring a gift, you take a gift. You do not have to wrap the gift, I will bring a tote bag to put all the gifts in and all you do is just reach in and take a gift. If you bring a gift, you take a gift. One gift per each person that brings one.

Our friends just got off the Magic yesterday and said it was great. There was no problem with the pools. They loved the new flat screen TV's. She didn't pay attention to the new furniture near the adult pool, she said she was too busy reading and relaxing.

Hi everyone, I've been preessed for time but have been trying to keep up with your postings. Judy keeps me up to date. I can't believe that castaway cay is 7 weeks from today with a SECOND visit still to come!!!

Susan, WL is great and WC is alot of fun. The staff loves to interact with you. Like Judy said, ask for katsup and see what might happen. Ask for a large drink and see what they bring you or have one of the guys ask where the rest room is. One of the best things about staying there for MVMCP is taking the boat over and back. I love that trip and it's not nearly as crowded as the buses will be.

I didn't even know you could take the boat! Now I'm really excited! I just want to fast forward atleast 5 or 6 weeks! We've never stayed at WL but when I was over on the WDW side of the DIS, I read a lot of very positive things about it. Are the pools nice? If the kids do decide to swim, they are heated, right? My DD loves the teen program and is very social. She had already met some of the Christmas cruising teens via text message, but now has to start all over again with the Thanksgiving group. But hey, it saved us BIG $$

Just so yinz all know, I'm listening to Buster Poindexter "Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot" right now and pretending I'm on deck 9 and I have a cold, slushy, umbrella drink of the day in my hand. It's full of rum.The sun is beating down and the salt air is a bit breezy but not at all uncomfortable. I believe we're cruising at 25 knots and heading straight to Margaritaville. Ha!!!

Stillers/JAcksonville tonight at 8:15 EST. Keep your fingers crossed. We have no offense. Too many injuries.

Stillers are losing 14-7 right now. I hope it's not a sad day in the Burgh.
Fire works last night were incredible. They lasted 36 minutes, the beginning music was from Illuminations and the end was from Pirates of the Caribbean. In between was music and spoken dialog of famous Pittsburghers (Bobby Vinton, Gene Kelly, Christina Aguleira, Mr. Rogers, etc.) We live about 15 minutes south of the city and it was really loud here. My dog went nuts and barked his fool head off the entire time!
