11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Everyone at our house has runny noses and we're all tired and crabby. Is it Friday yet?

I was doing errands today uptown, and the bakery had a scarecrow and a turkey in the window.

I watched the Travel Channel "Holidays at WDW with Samantha Brown" on my Ipod this morning while on the bus. I can't tell you how many times I got goosebumps and kept thinking it won't be long! It went down to 45 degrees last night and chilly today. Fall is coming and that must mean so is the trip.

Stacie -There is a nasty cold going around here. Two co-workers are sneezing, coughing and snorting. I wish they would have stayed home - I don't want it!!! I hope you all feel better!

Fall is not in the air here. It's 86 degrees, it would be hotter if the sun was out.

I was trying to find some information on the new cruise ship pier that's supposed to be under construction in Grand Cayman and I found the port authority's cruise ship schedule instead. I wonder if that arrival time is correct. I thought it was supposed to be 11am.

Disney Magic
Disney Cruise Lines
Arriving Nov 26 2008 8:00AM
Leaving Nov 26 2008 4:00PM
Passenger Capacity of 2,500
Gross Tonnage of 83,338
Berth: Anchorage 2
Terminal: Royal

Been wondering about that myself. Our documents list a 11am arrival but when I went online to do my excursion ressies, the DCL site listed excursions for earlier times. Anybody know exactly when we will be able to get off the ship?:confused3

I like the 8-4 schedule better. More time to do excursions, shop and go to Margaritaville!:drinking1

Just checking with everybody....Is there anybody else interested in participating in the grab bag at the DIS Meet?

I called DCL to ask after reading your post. The CM that I spoke with said that the 11:00-4:30 time is correct and that the excursion times will be adjusted accordingly. The excursion I gave him as an example was Rum Point Beach, it had a time listed of 9:15 to 3:35. The correct meeting time is 10:00, returning at 3:35. I really wish it was a longer day, I wanted to do Stingray City on our own.

I don't know about you all, but at this time, I would not care if they untied the ship from the dock and floated around Port Canaveral for 7 days. I can't wait to be onboard!

Thanks for checking on the port times. I am glad that I did my excursions through DCL for that port. I read that DCL excursions get priority on tendering. I would be happy hanging out at Castaway Cay the whole time!:cool1:

Either that or we could "get lost" on CC. How long do you think you could hide before you would be found? I figure all I would need is a stick, some string and a hook and I could fish for my food. I could also go to Cookies BBQ when the ships are in and stock up on food for a few days!

Stacie,

How can they do a meet time of 10:00 when we aren't supposed to be there until 11:00? That doesn't make sense. I think I'm going with the 8:00-4:30 time. I like it better.:lmao:

Hi - I recently joined the board after a friend recommended it. Thanks so much for all the information. It has been really great and extremely helpful! We are travelling with our extended family. We were also unable to get the Palo reservations we wanted. How early should we plan to arrive at the port to have a good chance at getting that? Thanks!

Welcome! You won't be able to try to get your Palo reservations until you get on board. However, you'll want to get an early boarding pass so you can be among some of the first on the ship. We arrive at 10:00 (but that's because I'm crazy:lmao: ). I always feel like my vacation starts the moment I walk into the port. We've always received a number 2 boarding pass and have been some of the first people in line at the port. We're getting closer and closer!:cool1:

WELCOME ABOARD!party: :jumping1: :welcome: :dancer: :rockband:

If you get to the ship early enough, you should be able to get in to Palos. We did it on our last cruise with no problem. We get to the port around 10:00 as well. There is a little of bit of sitting and waiting, but it is worth being first on the ship.
