On another note, I'm probably showing my age by telling this, but I'm so excited I have to share! We went to Home Depot today because our dishwasher of only 3 years quit. Well, we bought a new dishwasher and ended up getting the LG Front Loading Steam Washer and Dryer. I'm up late tonight because it's actually fun to do laundry!:rotfl: I've wanted these forever and just decided to bite the bullet today. Isn't it funny how certain things excite us as we get older? My DH and I just stood in with a flashlight peering into the washer and watching it do its thing. All of a sudden, we cracked up laughing at ourselves. Who stares at their washer while its doing its thing?:lmao: Pretty exciting stuff here at our house!:thumbsup2

Have a great night everyone!

Susan

I'd love to get that washer and dryer! I can understand why you were so excited. But please don't spend every weekend night staring into your laundry. :rotfl2:

I was up bright and early this morning----to do laundry!:lmao: However, I didn't break out the flashlight this morning. The excitement of watching the washer work is over now, but I'm sure enjoying doing laundry much more than I did a few days ago.

As for how they work--they are awesome! I haven't noticed if the clothes are less wrinkled or not because honestly I'm one of those that always gets them out the second they are dry to fold them (have I told any of you I'm kindof anal?;) ). However, I need to read the owner's manual and see how this steam cycle works. Supposedly you shouldn't have to pretreat clothes with the steam. My daughter's shoes are really dirty with grass stains and such, so I'm going to give it a try today. The dryer came with a rack for drying tennis shoes and hats. I just love new toys!:thumbsup2

Have a great Sunday everyone! I certainly hope the storms die down--that is so, so scary. My prayers will continue to be with everyone.

Susan

I'm back. Walmart did not have the paper but I found it at Office Max - 5 sheets for 13.00. I better not make any mistakes!
I'll let you know how it goes!
Judy

Just printed 3 signs and they look great. Thanks again Sandy!!!

You're welcome.

Yikes, $13!!! I have a few sheets left that I will use for my favorite signs and then I might just print the rest on heavy weight paper and stick the roll-type magnet stuff on the back.

Question for all of you....

My dad was booked on our cruise and has to reschedule. At first he was going to cancel it but I told him to move the date. He called up today and was told that today was the last day that you can move your cruise date. He HAD to pick a sailing date today and he wasn't going to be able to move it again???? Is this true or is someone screwing up?

I did try to get him to switch cabins and cancel mine instead...;) but then there is always the extra cost. NOt happening...Guess I won't be getting that window after all....

I think I read something on the DIS news this morning about no longer being able to switch cruises and having to cancel and rebook.

NEW CANCELLATION POLICY - Effective 8/31/08

If you need to cancel your cruise and are within the penalty period for doing so, Disney Cruise Line will no longer allow you to change the date. You will be required to cancel your existing cruise and absorb whatever penalties are in effect and rebook the new date.

This is from DIS Cruise News.
I don't like this policy at all. I would have liked the option to book on board, but it's hard for us to plan that far in advance. And if they add a cruise that we like better we would be penalized. :sad2:

Thanks Judy!

That means that we won't book onboard as well this cruise. We usually do it for the discount. Now I wonder what happens if you have trip insurance. THere wouldn't be any penalties right?:confused3

That's a good question! But upon re-reading the statement it says if you are "within the penalty period". I wonder if you can change dates if you do it before? I guess we'll have to inquire when on board. It's just difficult for us because of Tim's restrictions due to the school schedule. We never know start dates, holiday dates and end of the year dates as early as I would like. Not to mention snow make-up days. :teacher: If it were me I would just take the days off but he gets all crazy!! :scared1:

I got the impression it is only if you are in the penalty period. What time period that is, I don't know. I think the onboard bookings would drastically decrease if they didn't allow you to change the date within a reasonable time period. I'm just hoping we have enough room left on our credit card after the cruise to rebook the next cruise. It saved us quite a bit booking ahead of time for this cruise.

Received a text from our friends from Louisiana late last night. They were still enroute to Florida, it was really slow going. Hopefully I will hear from them today. Just watched the weather channel, it doesn't look like it will be as bad as they thought, thank goodness.

That is good news! I hope all of these hurricanes are gone by November--they scare me!

This doesn't sound right to me, because unless he's in a cat. 1-3, his final payment due date isn't until next weekend (75 days out), so he wouldn't be within the penalty period. I think I'd call back and talk to someone different. I didn't think DCL really changed the policy but were rather just now beginning to enforce it. I didn't even know you could ever change your date if you were within 75 days of traveling unless you had insurance. You learn something all the time here on the DIS!:goodvibes Good luck!

Teresa,

Keep us posted!! Loads of Pixie dust being sent their way...you know I have tons of that dust around here!!! (From my Tinks...of course!!)

Just spoke to my friend, they are safe and sound in Ocala, Florida with relatives. They are going to try and enjoy the day by relaxing at the pool with relatives. She told me that her neighbor did not evacuate so she is receiving information from them. Right now it's really heavy rain and strong wind, but they are worried about flooding. They won't know about that until later on in the day. I will keep you all posted, thanks for all the good wishes!!!

I think I am getting a bit carried away with this. I had problems printing on magnetic paper with my older printer so I went to Office Max and bought a new HP today. My wife thinks I am crazy.

:wave2: Hey all, long time no talk. :rolleyes1

Ken--It's possible you are getting little carried away with the magnets but I'm sure your door will look great. I think the magnet thing is a symptom of the DISease. Who is Hannah and is she headed your way?

SuzyMouse--I thought the penalty phase for our cruise was September 8, at least that is what is on my confirmation sheet. I agree with the others, call back and talk to somebody else.

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day. We did some shopping Saturday and went to the local amusement park today. It was hot and we're all ready for bed even though it's only 5:00.

Ken -
Don't you need a new computer too!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Went to Home Depot today for paint for the dining room. Checked out tin ceiling panels for the kitchen ceiling and decided I want them! They're pricey but the kitchen is small and I might be able to swing it after the trip. Perhaps that could be my Christmas gift! I think I need another second job!

I was working on my FE this morning and had to put it away. I think I went overboard and I may have to start all over again. Give the girl some glue and sequins and I create like David Bowie in the 70's! It now looks like a bad disco decoration! Or a horrible Christmas creation. Either way it's butt-ugly!:scared:
Ken, got an extra grocery bag?:lmao:

Judy

TwoByFour ~ Am I the only one who doesn't know who you are? This isn't Stacie with another new name is it?
