Okay veterans - What do you love about Grand Cayman? We haven't been to either but had planned to tour the Mayan ruins through a David & Ivan tour. I was definitely looking forward to that. So now we are thinking about the Aquaboat & Snorkel Adventure at Grand Cayman. I'm not sure I want to do a beach excursion since we will be at CC twice. :thumbsup2 The Rum Point Beach Adventure and the Seven Mile Beach Break sound as if they simply charge to get you to a beach..... Are those beaches much different/better than CC?

On our Western Cruise two years ago, we did a private excursion to Stingray City with snorkeling. It was a really different experience, but not one to do with really young kids (mine turned out to be a little too young). You can find out more about our experience in my DCL trip report linked in my signature. My kids really loved the snorkeling and I may look into a snorkeling excursion this time around.

I still haven't heard from my TA or DCL about the change from Costa Maya to Grand Cayman. How is everyone finding out about this? If I didn't come to the DISboards I would have no clue this was happening.

I haven't received official word yet either, but someone we're cruising with did talk to someone from DCL. What would we do with the DIS?:worship:

Well I would sure be missing a few friends in my life:grouphug:

(Side note here)
I'm so saddened by the death of Tim Russert. What an amazing man he was.:worried: I will surely miss the way he made polictics more enjoyable to follow.

I receceived the following email from DU.

We have been notified by Disney Cruise Line that the itinerary for your November 22, 2008 sailing has been changed and no longer includes a stop in Costa Maya.

Below is your new itinerary:

Port Canaveral
Castaway Cay
Day at Sea
Grand Cayman
Cozumel
Day at Sea
Castaway Cay
Port Canaveral

Disney Cruise Line informed us this change is due to the extensive damage to the port in Costa Maya that remains from last years Hurricane.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

I was hoping that Costa Maya would be ready to receive ships by November, but I'm sure it takes a long time to recover from such a disaster.

I emailed DCL to see what they would say was the reason for the change.

This is what they said:
We originally planned to be one of two ships that would return to Costa
Maya during your sailing. However, additional ships (bringing
additional guests) are now scheduled to be in port on the same day as
our call. In an effort to provide a comfortable shore experience for
our guests, we have modified the itinerary to include Grand Cayman.

As you may be aware Hurricane Dean passed directly over the Yucatan
Peninsula and Costa May last year. Therefore, in an effort to provide
comfortable shore excursion experiences for you and your family the
itinerary has been modified to include Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman has
always been a popular port with our guests and it fits nicely with the
itinerary.

We believe this itinerary change is necessary to continue to provide the
first-class Disney Cruise Line experience guests have come to know and
expect.

Thank you for sharing your email with us. I still haven't officially heard from Disney. I'm sure I'll be getting an email or letter in the mail soon. I'm fine with going to Grand Cayman. We've never been to Costa Maya or Grand Cayman, so as long as it's somewhere new, we're happy!:goodvibes

Happy Fathers Day to all esp. disvillainfan, howiemouse and jsfein.

Not rushing the summer away but can't wait to be saying Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks cheysdad ... to you too! I was out your way today visiting my brother at his Coldstone store where he was doing very good business.

We did Grand Cayman a couple of years back. I did the diving excursion, so we never really got around the island much. Is there anything special anyone would suggest with my 7 year old DD?

Gotta love the Howiemouse. If he ever comes on here he's Faniki! I'll have to try it out and see if it works!

I'll send him your good wishes. We had 25 people here for a Father's Day extravaganza!! Tell Cheysmom I made her salad and it was a hit!
I hope your family treated you nicely!

Happy father's day to all!!!!

ps...cheysdad..only 92 posts? Shocking with the amount you talk!! Never noticed that before!;) Love ya!!

Ok...here's "howiemouse"...actually it's Suzy MOuse checking to see if this works! He probably now has 2 posts! It says last time visited 5-6-2003! Now maybe I can get him on here! :confused3

What is there to do for little ones in Grand Cayman? We went about 4 years ago to the turtle farm, but I have heard that a hurricane washed most of them back out to sea.

Any other cool places to go with a 1 year old? What's the best beach?

We love Rum Point!! It really is good for a 1 year old too as the water is very very shallow for quite a way out and very calm.

It is a long trip over to that side of the island so if you go, start out early!!

Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself to the "Traveling Turkey's" thread. My name is Tia and I am married with two of the most wonderful children ages 9 and 4. We will be on the Magic setting sail for this Thanksgiving. I hope to get to know you all better as we get closer to the sail date!

Hi again! I have some news that I'm sure will be applicable to your Double Dip cruise as well!

I am looking at the DCL website for the CC excursions and for the special 2 day rentals it does not have our sailing listed and it says this:

Keep the fun afloat! Available to book online or onboard only, reserve a float or inner tube for your stop in Castaway Cay on select 4-Night Bahamian Cruises between May 11, 2008 and August 24, 2008 and swim away with 75% savings on the same rental during your return visit to Castaway Cay.

The 5 night Sept. 1st cruise is included in a list of dates.

Were you already able to book at the 105 mark and saw it there? I'm just not sure when you say "there" where "there" is?;)

Selket: Yes, I've already booked excursions (105 days) and the Castaway Cay excursions had the 2 day rentals listed. :hippie:

Hope that helps!

WELCOME!!!! Have you ever cruised before?

Hi There! Yes this will be our 5th Disney and 7th cruise overall. We booked this cruise last April while on board!! Thank you all for your warm welcomes. I am however a bit inexperienced with posting on boards, so I am not sure yet how to reply post to everyone. Hopefully I'll figure it out:badpc:

I have been lurking on and off for a few months. Now that we have passed the debate stage of taking this cruise and we are definitely committed, I thought it would be really nice to meet some fellow travelers. Below is my family!

Dh (Joe) 36, myself(Tia) 31, dd(Michaela) 9(turning 10 on board!!), ds(Joey) 4
