Anyone created a countdown calendar for our cruise yet? One that highlights the 105 day out mark, the 90 day out mark, the 75 day out mark, etc?

We need to add another person to our list!!! We asked our 15 yo sitters mother if she could go and the answer was yes. We are paying for her way. She helps us out alot and we thought that this would be a good way to thank her. I don't think that she has ever flown, been to Disney or a cruise. We're excited to take her. Anyone have any shy 15 yo girls who may like to meet up with her?

Just booked a trip to WDW for this summer and wandered over to this cruise thread after a long absence. Boy has this thread grown. I see some of my fellow New Jerseyans have already booked their air. I better get moving too!!

We're driving, but we're heading north up I-4. When does this cruise leave? We'll probably just drive up that morning like we have before.

Drive or fly....that is the question! For us it would be 16 hours of driving time. That means that the kids would have to miss school on Friday too. It's bad enough to pull kids out of high school for 2 days; I'd really hate to make it three. I can't figure out the airlines though. Saturday I checked with AA and the cost for 4 tickets was just over $2,100. After checking with the airline, we learned that DH has enough frequent flyer miles to get 2 tickets and just 700 miles short for the 3rd ticket....and his trip home on Sat wasn't credited to him yet. He's going to see if those miles have been added today. So, here I'm thinking that we'll only have to pay for one ticket which shouldn't be much more than driving round trip. When we checked the price of one ticket it came to just over $1,000!!!!! I don't understand it...4 tickets for $2,100 or 1 ticket for $1,000 (both prices through the AA website). The math just doesn't add up to me. We did notice that travelocity has a RT fare of $330 or so (but only 3 seats left yesterday morning at that price).

Okay - long story short - we still don't know.

We are flying, it would about a 24 hour drive for us. We are thinking of flying down Tuesday night, and doing the parks on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I finally talked my parents into going with us on the cruise and they haven't been to WDW since they took me when I was 5 (that was a looooong time ago!).

There is no school today because it is end of the semester so I'm taking the kids out for lunch. Hope everyone has a good day.

OK, those of you who are parents, here's a what if question for you. I found out last night from my DS that one of the girls I used to have in Girl Scouts, now in 8th grade, 14yo, is "dating" a senior in high school!!!!! My DS knew about it because the guy is in the same club as him. Yesterday he had gone to a school event and the guys' parents were there talking about this girl and about how their son and her were making out. I know it sounds like a Dr. Phil show. What in the world is her mother thinking ?!? I'm wondering if her mother even knows. I don't know this family real well just know that she is a single mom. Do I say something to the mom like, "How's Penelope doing?", do I say something to the girl next time I see her like, "What's a matter with you?" Do I just pray about it and hope they both get hit in the head with some common sense? Sorry to rant, I just couldn't beleive what I was hearing.

We're waiting to hear back from our TA about our pre-cruise stay at WDW. We had gotten a quote for the Beach Club Villas, and the Beach club, the rates were insane, even though the week before Thanksgiving is value season. We're leaning towards POFQ or the Dolphin now. We like the location of the Dolphin and we've stayed there before, but POFQ sounds nice too, maybe we'll do one before the cruise, and the other the night after the cruise. Anyone have any insight on either one?

OMG!!! We have 2 8th graders in our family (and several in my GS troop) and while I don't even know this girl or her family, but I feel it's tooooooooooooooooooo much of an age difference. In most places, they aren't even in the same school group. I know how hard it is to be a single parent, but even if the boy is a "good guy" it just isn't right at that age. It opens up a can of worms. As for how to deal with it (say something or not), I can't answer that for you. It depends on the relationship you have with the mom/girl and especially the timing. We can't control other people and their kids (even though I know a few I would love to - ie BIL/SIL and their now four kids or my DSis/BIL and DNephew - but those are two other stories). What we can do is talk to our kids about how each family has different rules and reinforce your thoughts on dating and age appropriateness.

They did a study a bit ago about girls in scouts have lower teen pregnancy rates, lower school drop-out rates, etc. Girl Scouts stress raising girls confidence, leadership skills, and make wise decisions. I'm not saying that there are no pregnant scouts, etc. Just that GS tends to provide girls a positive activity that teaches valuable life skills that will serve them well.
