We tend todress up for formal night. ACtually I found that I had a gown for my daughter that fits her perfectly! She's excited for it!

Teresa....hhhmmmm why didn't I get the tequilla tasting request??? Think they have water tasting?:drinking1

Consider yourself always invited. I'll be designated watcher this year, I think. But we will have to see. Tell DH I can sypathize about the shoulder, hope he does better than I did.

Judy, thanks for the encouragement. Truth be known, I did not Cry when Bambies mom got shot, but I did when Old Yeller did, also when the Bucs blew the playoffs last year.

Teresa, are the beer, wine, tequila tastings booked as excursions 90 days out? If so, I will be waiting with baited breath next saturday to book all three!

Sandy, do you know when formal night is? We are kinda with you on this. I dress up enough and would rather not do so on vacation. But in this case if formal night is on Thanksgiving, we might have to bite the bullet and break out the old tie. And Judy . . . Does "Neat and Tastefully" involve a tie? if not, count me in!

According to Stacie's site, formal night is Monday and semi-formal is Thanksgiving. I don't know if they change it so holidays are formal though. :confused3

Ken,
It absolutely positively DOES NOT involve a tie. I look at it this way. This is my vacation. I paid a lot of money for my vacation. I want to be comfortable on my vacation.I think formal night is fun - if you like formal stuff. If I lived closer, wasn't flying and didn't have to schlepp a dress, tux for 2 guys etc, etc, I might consider it. Tim and Ian will wear nice pants and a nice shirt. I will wear either nice slacks or capris and a dressy top or a simple dress. No ties will be worn!
Ahhh... Tampa Bay! Perhaps this year? For a minute there when you said Bucs I thought you meant the Pittsburgh Pirates! pirate: They are so bad it's embarrassing!!! :lmao: pirate:

Thanks Judy, I wore a tie at my last job for about 10 years and still have the neckburn to prove it. I do wnat to book the Palos brunch . . . . does that change things? I heard that they have a strict dress code.

Comments please . . . Is this too goofey (excuse the pun)!

Ken - I LOVE IT!!! It's a hoot!! Are you going to print it into a magnet?

Ties are the strangest things. How did they evolve into menswear? It's a very strange concept when you think about it. What purpose do they serve? My DH taught in an approved private school for many years - socially and emotionally disturbed children. He was not allowed to wear a tie - too dangerous!
When we renewed our vows we had dinner at Palo that evening. We wore what we wore to the ceremony. I wore a simple dress with a Mickey, Minnie and Donald print. Tim wore beachy type pants and a Caribbean shirt with Mickey in martini glasses. We both wore flip flops. No one said anything to us. Thinking back on it, that may be why we were ushered to the back of the restaurant so quickly!
I may reconsider and do Palo brunch with my friend Linda. How often do you have the opportunity?

Palo brunch is not as dressy as dinner, but you still aren't supposed to wear shorts. I wore capri pants and a nice top. DH wore khakis and a polo shirt. Most people were wearing the same as us.

I like the MIB picture (Mickey In Black). I saw that as Apple desktop wallpaper. They had little rainbow apples on their sleeves and a big Apple icon in the background. I was trying to figure out a design (with that image) for formal night, but gave up.

Also remember when you get onboard to sign up for the tequila, wine, beer tasting. We did the tequila tasting last year, it was a lot of fun.

Cheysdad are you up for tequila tasting?

Teresa - Of course!! Cathe will pass on tequila but I am there with you!

You make reservations for the tastings at the service desk once on board.

Teresa -
Even tho it was a loss they played a nice game last night.
My DH went shopping yesterday and bought me a white Polamalu away jersey! I think he was embarrassed because my "Fast Willie" Parker jersey is so big. I wore it last weekend and it almost goes to my knees and it is huge! I could wear it with a tasteful belt to formal night as a dress!!!

I have nothing to do at work today (all caught up for the week) and my boss is out (not that he cares anyway) so I will be checking back frequently today! He will often yell over to me "What are you guys talkin about now? :surfweb: He is the best boss in the world and I have been trying to talk him into going with us. He says no and thinks Disney is for kids. He's right - big kids like us!!! :mickeyjum

I would love to see you at tequila tasting!!! Come on, please!!!! The more the merrier!!!!

Michael, Ok, it's a date for tequila tasting.:cool1:

Judy, a steelers dress for formal night, now that would be cool! I can bet you no one would have the same outfit.:rotfl2: Yes I did see that they lost last night, but at least it was a close game.

SuzyMouse, you found a gown for DD, cool. I promised my DD that I would get her a gown too, now that your DD has one she is definately going to want one. I'm still debating on if I'm going to wear the gown I have, it's from a wedding that I was in...I don't know it kinda looks like a bridesmaid gown, well that's because it is a bridesmaid gown.

My cousin gave it to me last year and I forgot about it. Came with shoes and all!! It's beautiful! Now do youthink I'llbe able to dress the little guy up? He would sooner wear a Steelers jersey before a jacket!!

seadooken - LOVE the MIB sign !!

I've been absent from this board for months and so glad to be back! Can't believe the trip is almost here!

We have never done tuxes for formal night - dark suit & cocktail dress for us, my son will most likely be in a suit but not sure yet, my girls will be in nice dresses with "fancy" shoes - the girls just think of it as a big game of dress-up. We'll be dressed nice for semi-formal but probably no ties.

Its a long, embarrassing story - but I'm not allowed near tequila any longer. :rolleyes1 My husband did the beer tasting and enjoyed it, will probably do that again. My girlfriend likes martinis so if they do that one, we might venture there. When are they going to do a whiskey tasting?! :woohoo:

Megan

Hi Judy, what have you deciided on your FE?

Our DD has no idea we are going on the cruise and if we make something like that, she'll figure it out. I am leaning toward ebay.

Ken - I plan on finishing my mermaid FE tomorrow. I think it will turn out ok. If you want, I will make one for you guys as well. It doesn't have pockets or embroidery. Just visualize Ariel from the waist down!!! I used green and blue shiny material, green and blue sequins, ribbon etc. and am going to the craft store tomorrow to figure out what I can make for the ends of the dowel rods. (I'm toying with the idea of making foam Flounders or Sebastians) I will have Ian post a photo when I'm done. I have enough supplies left over to make another one so it's not like I'd be shopping all over again!

How have you been able to keep it a secret for so long? I would have spilled the beans by now!
