I know exactly what you mean! I figured I'd save money on my last cruise and make my own FE. And, of course, just like you... once I got all the stuff, it was more than if I'd just bought it.

But, the good news is all I need this time is some of the thermobond that I have somewhere here in the house (I'll come across it while packing I still keep hoping) and some of that printable fabric stuff and then I'll be good to go. So it'll be very cheap this time.

See..... all you have to do is take another cruise and that brings down the cost of the FE and thus by taking another cruise you save money.

See.... thoroughly logical.

(KC just loves it when my logic runs like that).

KC - what do you mean you don't understand that logic - I get it! Perfectly logical.

Came across this article today which I thought you may like:

Which got me to thinking...... As much as I'm longing to dip my toes in the surf at Serenity Bay, I know King Charming's Irish heritage (and skin) ain't gonna take to being in the sun that long. Mine won't fare much better, that's for sure. So now I'm wondering about a cabana rental. I checked the DCL website and didn't see where I could schedule a cabana right now. Maybe a massage but not just a cabana. Anyone know if this is possible or if they even have them? And if so, anyone wanna go in together on renting one over at Serenity Bay for the first day we're there? If we can get enough of us in there maybe it'd lessen the price to something do-able.

I have never seen any cabanas at SB other than the massage ones. There are umbrellas there so I am sure we could construct something for him. There are shady spots over on the family beach but I am thinking that isn't what you are going for. We need a tarp and some rope and a few poles and I am sure the scouts amongst us could build one for him.

Do we have a fav drink poll???

Mine is Rum Runner
Irish Belle is Bahama Mama

8AM and thinking about refreshments:cool1::cool1:pirate::woohoo:

I love the Konk Koolers that are on CC - the ones served at the bar by the family beach are the absolulte best! David drinks whatever the drink of the day is but since I am not so in to bananas and pineapple juice, it is more difficult for me to drink those. I do like 'Fun on the beach' as Disney calls it - or anything with peach schnapps in it.

:scared1::scared1::scared1: Page two - I don't think so! Must be everyone is having a great time today doing family activities. Maybe some of you are practicing your cup drinking skills. Whatever it is - I hope that you all had a grand day.

It has been sort of quiet here. I thought I was having some company for dinner but it isn't looking like they are going to make it. David made a big pot of chili and i did cornbread. Yumo!

I hear that - red hair, green eyes, fair skin and freckles here. DH has to be very careful in the sun because some of his post-transplant meds make him susceptible to skin cancer. So we have become the Shade Family. I am not afraid to grab loungers and move them into the shade. Also, we all wear Rashguards. If you're not familiar with them, think high-neck T-shirt (long or short sleeves) made of lightweight, quick-dry, swimsuit material with built-in SPF. Add a hat of some sort and lots of sunblock to the remaining exposed areas and you are good to go. Here's a link to Lands End Women's Rashguards as an example. http://www.landsend.com/ix/womens-clothing/Women/Swimsuits/Cover-ups/index.html?seq=1~2~3~4&catNumbers=83~134~140&visible=1~2~1~1&store=le&sort=Recommended&pageSize=12&tab=2

LOL. :rotfl2:This is coming from the person who questioned my justification of saving $$ on a birthday party by taking a cruise???

Right there with you. We're a family of rashguards too. Actually all summer too. I just got some new ones for our trip.

I PM'd everyone that had a 1 in the "cabin" column but nothing in the adult/kid columns and most have taken care of the spreadsheet. I'm going to give the other 2 a bit more time as they may be on vacation or something but eventually I'll change these to zeros so all the columns match. PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME GUESS ABOUT YOU. If you're one of the ones left with a 1 in the cabin column but nothing in the adult/kid column please reply to the PM and let me know how to properly update the spreadsheet.

HELP!!!!
I have to make ressies tonight. I want to book the Dolphin enocounter and do it along with some of you! But I can't figure this out. Our spreqadsheet lists the Dolphin encounter in Cozumel, but the Disney website lists it in Grand Cayman. The dolphin excursion in Cozumel they call Dolphin discovery. Which is which and which are you doing? My D(7) wants to go along with some new friends from the ship. Any help will be most aprreciated, especially from Travelbee.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I've got this mental image of a bunch of us out there with our drinks of the day trying to get a shelter up!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I did that, didn't I? Guess KC must have more of an effect on me than I know. Can I please beg you darling ladies to help me get myself straightened out and out from the influence of this kind of thinking when we get on the cruise?

The Royal Dolphin Swim that some are doing in Cozumel (and I believe some are also doing the adventure) isn't a Disney excursion. It's at http://www.dtraveller.com/cozumel/activities/cozumel_dolphin_royal_swim.asp. Hope that helps.

We booked through the Dolphin Discovery website on our own. None of us used Disney because it was a lot less $. We booked the Dolphin Encounter for our girls at 1:00 p.m. It was easy. I'm sure we will all grab transportation in a group if possible. I think the tentative plan is to go to Chanakanab in the morning (not too early) and spend the day there before the Dolphin Encounter. Hope this helps!

From what I gather by the article, the additions to CC are just an announcment and only a few of the items are in progress. Those being the dock area and the beach (including Cookies Too) are being worked on at this time. Remember they still have over a year to get things done for the new ships.

The article even says, the additions will be ready "Next Summer".

Thanks everyone! I just completed our reservation for the Dolphin Encounter at 1:00 PM. I look forward to joining you. DD(7) can't wait to do this with her new friends. I guess I better update the spreadsheet.

OK, 75-dayers, it's our turn tonight. Just about 40 minutes to go until we can swamp the DCL servers. LOL

Good luck to the first time cruisers getting your prefered dates/times/activities!!!

Quick question. How far, exactly, should I go on the website just prior to midnight?

Right now, I have retrieved my reservation and am sitting on My Reservation page waiting to click on My Cruise Plans. Is this correct?

Or do I need to log off and be waiting to retrieve my reservation at midnight?

Any luck? I login but it's telling me I still have 76 days before sailing?? Does reservation NOT open at midnight eastern for the first timers?

Just click on My Cruise Plans. It should let you register. It was telling me the same thing that I was 76 days out.

Yes, got the Spa time I wanted, but no Palo. Oh well.

There were no availability at Palo for brunch or tea. I thought they were releasing more spots that they hold for the first timers?

I thought so too, but if that was the case, the spots went very quickly. I swear it was only about 12:02 when I tried for Palo. There were some dinners left, but not any days or times that I wanted. However, if you want to do the group brunch, just PM glindamood, who is trying to reserve the private room. If she is successful, you won't need a separate brunch ressie.

Yay! I got my Spa Villa Alone Time ressie. Monday afternoon at 2:30. Now I have to decide which treatment I want. I'm leaning towards a facial, since I have a massage every 2 weeks already.
