I just wanted to pop on to say hi to everyone! From the looks of it I should have done so months ago. Anyhow, in an attempt to not have to weed through 168 pages of posts is there anything I definately need to know? This will be out third Disney cruise. Will be traveling with my DH and kids, DD Mackenzie (age 12, almost) and DS Austin (age 6). Thanks!

I'm one too! But only for today, and only because I'm lazy. (next job starts tomorrow). But I'm living it up today, for sure :thumbsup2.

Y'all see what I have to put up with, right?

:welcome: Great to have ya here! Check out the links in my signature. There's a link to a summary of stuff we've got going on and a link to the last time I summarized numbers on the spreadsheet. And PM me when you can or email me so I can get you access to our spreadsheet. You'll need to have a google account so let me know what email you have related to a google account. Then you can see who all's doing what excursions and make your own row for participating in all the fun. And I'll also get you access to our private board where we have a few other conversations going on (and games!) and you can see what we all look like.

Wow...so much has happenend since I last logged in.

First of all, congratulations to Denise on landing her job in Mickey-town! :thumbsup2

Also, I heartily support "Shark Bait, Hoo Hah Hah!" It is a common utterance among our friends here.

Congrats on finding an awesome discount on FL rates! I had a similar feeling of elation at the military discount...which did not, sadly, completely offset my car repair bill, but it was very timely. :lmao:

I LOVED the pictures of the FE's that fivepin posted from gradysmommy, particularly the tropical-themed one. I may have to jump on that bandwagon, as I sew, but I don't have all the awesome skills, fabric, and an embroidery machine that I see on some of these FEs. Also, I seem to have misplaced my free time. Might as well support someone's local economy before the holidays, right?:santa:

We also found ourselves short the embroidery machine - but found the coolest stuff at Joann's! It's material backed with paper that can go through your printer! So, we printed up our pictures, cut them out, then used liquid stitches (in the sewing section) to treat them like an applique on the pockets. It makes the picture look like an applique. (we also found the liquid stitches extremely useful for holding on the blanket binding we used around the edge to hide the cloth ends without hemming anything) Hopefully tonight we'll have the whole thing finished and we can post a picture.

'Fraid I can't help with the free time, though... :confused3

I used stitch witchery last year to hold the pockets to the other parts of cloth. At the end of the cruise some of the pockets were separating. This time I'm going to get some of the thermo stuff I use to "sew" on the boys badges. That stuff never comes off!!! :rotfl2:

It's at Walmart in the craft section if anyone's interested.

And thanks for the info about the fabric transfer paper. I think I'm going to have to get some of that!

Kev-
My DH is a SAHD too! He's awesome with the kids. He also cooks and cleans way better than me. I'm good at dialing the phone for take out. I think he's probably a better SAH parent than I ever could be. :) Where in CT are you? I lived near Manchester (near Hartford) for a few years. And my best friend is in Tolland (near UConn). We're in a suburb of Atlanta now. My DH can't wait to meet another SAHD, they are very few and far between here also, definitely mostly women.
-Virginia

Wow, nice to see IM not alone in the SAHD catagory, looking forward to meeting your DH too.
We live close to the Southbury and Middlebury border, I guess that would put us halfway
between Danbury and Hartford. I bet you don't miss the snow!! IM dying to move down South, but thats a big time NO WAY with the boss(DW). My DS just did a college tour of UCONN. Nice campus, beautiful area.

Hypermommy, your sig:is still cut off at the bottom. Ha guy's Got news, WE ARE PAID IN FULL:cheer2::banana::cool1: now all is to be done is excurtions and finish the FEs.

I don't think it's "transfer paper", Denise. I think it's fabric that you actually hold on with the liquid stitches.

DO NOT GET the Tailor dark tee shirt transfer paper at Joann's - it was HORRIBLE - did not stick at all.

Welcome aboard Becca and TinLizzy!

My DH is also a SAHD, and he so relates to your experience of slipping away when the Mom's conversations turn to certain topics. :rotfl:

Poor baby, he had hemorhhoid surgery yesterday. Doc says it will take about 6 weeks to fully heal. Right now, he's doped up on Percosets and I intend to keep him that way for a while. Thank goodness we have a soft, comfy couch! :lmao:

Owch-chee-wa-wa - that sounds terribly painful. Be sure to tell him to get better real quick - he's going to be needing to park that bottom in a deck chair soon enough!!

All my pirate gear is ready to go and once my girls are back at school next week the FE gifts will be completed. Spent the day at the waterpark with the girls. No serious sunburns but everyone is pretty pooped - good thing - I'll be glad when school starts.....okay, now I'm babbling - better go finish making dinner....

Cheers,
Lisa

Right - it's called PhotoFabric by Blumenthal Craft. We got the cotton poplin. I was amazed at how easily it fed through my inkjet printer and how clean the image came out. (I did decide to not rinse it afterwards - this won't be washed, so the colors shouldn't bleed in the wash)

Owie, owie, owie! You might have to get him one of those donuts to sit on while on the cruise? If you do... make sure to put our logo on it! :rotfl2:

Okay, that's what I'll look for then. Thanks!!! Hope Michael's has it as I think our JoAnne's shut down. Of course, I could always look for it in my new town! :rotfl2:

Must be a resolution thing 'cause I'm seeing it clearly. What resolution are you using? Is there something specific you needed that I can get you the info on?

Hope your (DH) feels better soon:thumbsup2

But now that you have him detained to the couch, no torture, like Oprah reruns or Housewives.:;)

My DVR is full of a years worth of Oprah and her sidekick, the Marcus Welby of the Century,DR. OZ. :lmao:

Almost there. This is our 4th cruise, and I can recommend the Pirate Encounter at Grand Cayman. Our sons LOVED it!! I loved walking the plank, over and over and over again!!!!:cheer2:

This is the big 10!!!! Now I will feel like an official DISer!! LOVING the FE activity! I have already started to get goodies!!!!
