I made our final payment today and it already shows up as a temp authorization on our credit card!!! Sheesh, who knew I could be so excited about such a large amount hitting the card.

One more thing on your to do list that you can check off. Feels sorta good doesn't it. Mind you I said sorta :rotfl:. I am sure the amount would send shivers down my spine.

We were originally booked into a Cat 3, which had a $2,000 deposit (made over a year ago). Then last fall, I changed to a Cat 5 and got a great price, so the balance due wasn't as horrendous as it could have been. Actually, it's kind of nice to spread this whole trip out over 18 months. Last year I paid the cruise deposit, rental house deposit, and bought both WDW and Universal park tickets. Last month was the airfare, this month the balance of the cruise, next month the balance due on the rental house, then in Nov the trip itself. I'd probably fall over in a dead faint and have to be revived by cute firemen (oooh, there's a thought) if the whole cost of the trip hit in one month. :scared1:

I think I've finally settled on which shore excursions we'll be doing. I'm thinking about splurging on the Tulum Ruins tour, since I've never been to the mainland, and that sounds very interesting. I had such a great time on the Fury Catamaran excursion last time, but it's good to try something new, right?

We used points and frequent flier miles so I have not been hit over the head quite yet with anything. Since I had my hours reduced (and DH still isn't working), we won't be spending as much as we typically do but things are falling into place nicely and I should be able to save my credit cards. On our last cruise something less than $10 bucks hit our card (yes ten dollars) as I had travelers checks and kept to my budgeted amount.

I would LOVE to do Tulum but DH could not take the ferry ride and I can't/won't leave him for an entire day so I can go. And it isn't worth it if he gets sick. Funny how he is fine on the ship though (thank heaven).

We were thinking about doing the Jungle Walk excursion on Cozumel. We have one history buff (DD13 almost 14) and one nature/science buff (DD10) so we thought this excursion would be a nice mix of both and hopefully make everyone happy. It's a bit shorter than Tulum, which is good because I need some time to get to Los Cincos Soles to get my vanilla fix.

Has anyone been to Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman? We were thinking of doing a day on the beach on our own so we can come and go as we please. The girls and I love the sun but the problem is DH. He has 3 shades of skin color: pale, paler, and burnt -- even with Water Babies sunblock, a tee shirt and an umbrella.

Our DD will do stuff with the teens/kids clubs on one Castaway Cay day (Mom and Dad will actually get to see the adult beach for the first time!), but on the second CC day we were thinking of doing the Extreme Getaway Package. Anyone familiar with that one?

Would love to hear stories from anyone who has done these...

Thanks.

Trust me, the ferry ride is giving me some pause, after the stories I've read...but I'll tough it out! (With my bonine).

That Bonine is the best EVER! DH would have given this cruising thing up years ago had it not been for those pills - they work like a charm and don't knock him out.

Wait...what is the "Jungle Walk" excursion of which you speak?

Technically, it's called the "Jungle Hike Expedition," and it's supposed to be a a guided nature walk that takes you through some recently excavated Mayan ruins as well as the guide teaching you about the flora and fauna of Mexico. I read through the review section on the DIS boards, and it seems like it would be a good fit for my family's inerests. Hopefully I'm right!

The excursion to Tulum is excellent. My brother did it last year and would like to go back. I have been told that the actual ruins on Cozumel are kind of a let down compared to the mainland ruins. When I was in Cancun several years ago I did a day trip to Isla de Mujeres and saw some of those ruins and they were nothing to write home about either. I would love to go to Xcaret, but it would be too long of a day with a 3 year old. We still can't make up our mind about whether to spend the day at Nachi Cocom or to take DS-3 to the Dolphin Discovery. Any input would be great. I was going to take DS to see the Dolphins in Grand Cayman while DH goes to stingray city, but DH wants to see DS with the dolphins (if we decide to do it). Please help me decide what to do.

OK - I'm slow! Where is this "workbook" that everyone keeps referring to? Also, I seem to have misplaced the address of the spreadsheet. Help please:flower3:.

Workbook = Spreadsheet. If you PM Denise or Becky, they can get you the link. And, this is a good time to ask - could I have done that ??? I didn't mean to push something off on anyone.

We did the Tulum ruins last year and I would highly, HIGHLY recommend them. We had a fantastic tour guide and it was just soooooooo cool being around buildings that were that old and learning something about the Mayan culture and such. It really was great!

Be careful though. Even though Juan tried to keep us gringos in the shade, KC still got heatstroke that day. Not enough liquids in him (because we were all drinking out of his pepsi cup). If we ever do something like that again we'll definitely be getting camelbacks.

The spreadsheet and the workbook are the same thing. It started out as one spreadsheet but then blossomed into a workbook (many spreadsheets together in one file) as we started adding more and more information.

If you'll PM me your email addy I'll be happy to send you another invite.

LOL. Great minds think alike. Denise and I responded at the same time. Denise, I can't wait to share a DOD with you on a lounge chair relaxing on Deck 9 and ogling the cute pool boys.

Just an FYI...
just changed my Palo ressies around for the umpteenth time, and there seems to be plenty of ressies left for all days/time slots.

:welcome: to our crazy double dip!!

First, to get an idea of all the activities that we've planned, please follow the link in the last line of my signature.

Second, we have a workbook (it started as a spreadsheet and morphed into a Living Document - I swear King Charming has been feeding it surreptitiously) where we are collecting Huge Amounts of Data on Everyone. To access it, you need to have a google account/email. If you don't have one, just go to http://mail.google.com and sign up. Once you have done that, then email either me or Hypermommy with it and we will send you the link. I've sent you a PM with both of our email addresses (you can't PM any of us until you get 10 posts).
