Glindamood had another brilliant idea today -- allergies. She asked me to put allergies on the spreadsheet. I decided to do it in two places. There is now an allergies column just to the left of the Fish Extender cabin column and there's an allergies column on the Secret Mickeys page too. I figured someone might want to know allergies information in putting together either of these gifts so I'd put it in both places (because these can be serious).

Y'all go into the spreadsheet and put whatever allergies you have. No, "allergic to work" is not an option but just about everything else is. :rotfl2:

And if you don't have any allergies, please take the time to go in and put "none" in both columns. That way we'll know that you actually have no allergies and it's not just a matter of you not having time yet to fill it in.

Oh, and what to do if one person in your room has allergies. Well, I'll leave that up to y'all. You could put something like "<name> is allergic to nuts" in both columns. Now to me that would say don't give <name> anything that has nuts in it. But if <name> has problems just being in the same room with nuts then I'd say "NO NUTS AT ALL PLEASE" or something like that. Y'all know how allergic you and your family are to various things. Please help us to know so that we don't accidentally ruin someone's vacation.

And thanks for the idea Glindamood!!!!!!!

I just made that change with my TA. We added an additional nite at POFQ for the 11th. So we are staying for a total of 3 nites. I believe because we were using a DC Visa we got our dining for free and we got the regular dining plan since we are staying at a moderate resort. So it worked for us. Good luck!

Did you have a MYW package? That is the confusing part for me...getting ready to call right now and talk to Disney CS.

Great thinking!!! You guys/gals think of everything.:worship:
Thanks:flower3:

Did you have a MYW package? That is the confusing part for me...getting ready to call right now and talk to Disney CS.

Here's what we have:
3 nights at POFQ post-cruise
2 day park ticket
3 days of free Disney Dining (3 TS meals/3CS meals/3 snacks per person)

Had originally booked it thru Disney but then couldn't seem to get the free dining when it came out so switched to DU. Tracy was able to get me the free dining no problemo....

Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it all figured out and free up some extra $$ to spend on a round of DODs!!

Cheers,
Lisa

BTW: Great idea about adding the allergy alert into the spreadsheet!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just had to laugh at the person that is allergic to strawberries and codeine.... there goes the strawberry flavored cough medicine I'd planned to buy if I draw that name in the Secret Mickeys!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Or maybe it's not that funny and I'm just punch drunk from this project. I'm at a very tedious point right now. Just some data entry for every object on every form in the program. Good QA, mind you... but very tedious.

Oh, I just can't wait until I can put this all behind me and sit on the deck with some tropical fruity drink in my hand. I think I'm gonna be getting a lot of smoothies and just adding vodka to them. If I get a flask I can put it in my little bag that I carry around and that will keep me from having to go back to the room all the time (which would be a real pain). So.... where's the easiest place on Deck 9 to get a smoothie? I must admit that I just ordered from the cute boys with the drink trays last time so I don't know where to get something non-alcoholic. :rotfl:

Another use for that allergy column - a place to put an entry if someone is diabetic as well.

I made it to TC and back with my shower purchase. I tried to spend some $$'s on cruise stuff but the sale racks just didn't look that appealing to me today. Or, I am waiting to see what I can find at the bigger malls next week in Ohio.

Gail set me straight (what would I do without y'all to keep me organized?) and reminded me that there was already a column for allergies in the SM sheet. So please just make sure you put that info with the FE if it's pertinent to your family.

Hey... I found me a new theme song. I was listening to DTunes Radio and the demo of "In the Middle of a Muddle" (sung by the Sherman Bros., written for Cinderella) came on. Yep, the lyrics are just about perfect for me:

I'm in the middle of a muddle
In the middle of a muddle I am
I wanna have fun, I wanna have fun
But the work is piling high

I'm in the middle of a riddle
In the middle of a riddle, oh my
I'll never get done, I'll never get done
Because I'm only I

Isn't that a hoot!

I loved my first cruise, first day when the cruise staff was standing by the elevators with the drink trays and asked us if we wanted a drink. Sure we said to each other, thats so nice of them, "a complimentary drink and a DCL cruise glass to go with it":goodvibes.
And of coarse my kids really loved those magical Video games that they still think are free:eek:.

WOW, HM, You def need a shot of vodka:surfweb:

Did you have a MYW package? That is the confusing part for me...getting ready to call right now and talk to Disney CS.

Once you add park tickets to your "room only" reservation, it magically turns into a MYW package. Then you can add in any of the 3 dining plans for the number of nights that you are staying. We got free dining by using our Disney Visa for the entire payment. Hope this helps.:flower3:

Oh yeah, was talking to a DCL Res agent the other day. They said the Ray's on Castaway have their stingers removed and suggested that compared to Grand Cayman.
Now, I know they can declaw cats, ouch, but stingrays????
Then again, we all know Disney can perform their magic on just about everything :wizard:

Anybody got info on that???

TTL

The stingray experience on Castaway Cay can not hold a candle to stingray city in Grand Cayman. In Grand Cayman you are standing chest deep in water on a giant sandbar in the middle of the ocean with about 50 wild stingrays begging for food. DH thought it was really fun to rub squid on my legs and watch the stingrays try to give me hickies :scared1:. It was an experience I will never forget. The guides make sure that you know to shuffle your feet along the bottom at all times so you don't accidentally step on the rays (that could be painful!). I guess it just depends on your personal sense of adventure.

Unfortunately, we can't add our days at WDW to the beginning of our vacation but we're only there for 3 days so hopefully it won't be too bad. We'll take advantage of Tour Guide Mike too - I just wish he would release the Nov. 16- 30 least crowded parks info so I can organize my 2 days!!

Cheers,
Lisa

TGM just released the Nov 16-30 LCP charts. They are having technical difficulties, so you'll need to get it from the Nov 2009 Vacation Club. If you've joined, you should have a PM from them with a link. If not, PM me and I'll send you a link.

Sharen24 is absolutely correct - it is an awesome experience. DH found a "high spot" on the sandbar and was able to kneel and several stingrays sucked his heels. I purchased the video and watch it every once and awhile, just awesome. After doing that, I don't think I could do the excursion at CC.

Oh, don't even go there! I don't even want to THINK about how much money my men-folk spent in that arcade... yes, including the mah-velous King Charming. You'd think they'd never SEEN the beep-beep machines before!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks!! I'm sending you a PM....I'd like to get this organized this morning and I'm too impatient for them to approve my joining the Club....:yay::yay:

I was researching jokes for our celebration of National Tell-A-Joke Day on Friday. (Yes, Mom, I do have a real job - our culture is as important a part of work day as paying the bills for peanuts.) ;)

Anywhoo, I found these two top 10 lists and thought y'all would enjoy them!

I LOVE #1 & 2 under the Y2K heading.

Hi all,

Well, your Pixie Dusters have been working furiously behind the scenes to make this cruise even more magical for us (more magical than Mickey?! you ask.... yep, these girls can surely do it!). Here's an update on the events that these wonderful Pixie Dusters have been putting together:

DisMeet (Saturday at 2pm - Promenade Lounge)
  • The White Elephant was cancelled (replaced by the Secret Mickey).
  • With 80+ adults and lots of kids, we will forego formal intros as they would take too long. But Becky and Michelle will organize getting the kids of the different age groups together to know each other and helping excursion mates find each other.
  • We will take our own group picture as Shutters wanted an $80 sitting fee (!?!? Personally I think they're on crack!!!!)
  • Becky will bring nametags and sharpies

Secret Mickey (throughout the week - reveal at Lumiere's Luncheon)
  • Y'all don't forget to sign up for the Secret Mickey if you plan to participate. There's a separate sheet for it in the workbook. Just look for the links at the bottom. If you have any trouble give me a holler.
  • Cutoff for particpating is 10/20
  • Pixie Duster Gail will be assigning names so you'll know who your Secret Mickey giftee is sometime after that and you can go to the spreadsheet and see what they like
  • Gail added a column to the secret mickey - "Wish list" because sometimes knowing what people like by way of sports music or movies isn't sufficient to choose a good gift. So, what would you be happy to find in your secret mickey gift? be reasonable, ok? A million dollars and a pink corvette are probably NOT going to happen!

Lumiere's Luncheon and Secret Mickey Reveal (noon on Thursday)
  • I have added 2 columns (one for kids, one for adults) aaaaaaalllll the way to the right of the main spreadsheet page so you can sign up to attend.
  • This isn't binding, of course (hey, we're on vacation, right?) but it'll help Gail to have a headcount
  • We will meet in the Promenade Lounge at 11:45 on Thursday and proceed into Lumiere's together.

Palo Brunch (10:30 on Monday)
  • Now that ressie making season is upon us, don't forget to book your Palo Brunch ressie as close to 10:30 on Monday as possible
  • Gail will talk to the manager during the week prior and see about getting the private room
  • Gail will also take care of tying the ressies together. If you want to be part of this PM Gail (glindamood) on or before Sept 4th with your ressie number.

Lanyards and MiniNavigators
  • Cynthia is working on putting together lanyards for everyone
  • Cynthia is also putting together mini-navigators for everyone (possibly with help from Michelle). This will help keep up with all the Double Dip Delight stuff going on and will include a Fish Extender grid, etc.
  • If anyone would like to chip in a few bucks to help cover material costs I'm sure she'd appreciate it. Watch this thread for info on how to get her the money.

Book/Magazine Exchange
  • Just a reminder that Cynthia is organizing a book/magazine exchange. She'll be putting out more info on that later.
