This is how we ended up telling her that we were going on a
Disney Cruise.
The funny part about it was that we were not planning on telling her yet. My husband and I have been going back and forth trying to decide if we should tell her at all. I really wanted to just get in the car with the bags packed and say surprise, we are going to Disney for a few days. Then after a few days, say we are driving home, and drive to Port. How great it would have been to see her face when she saw the SHIP!!! My husband thought that we should tell her because the planning is half the fun, and I know how much she loves to plan out all of her outfits for the cruise. Then when I started to think about telling her teachers that she was going to miss 1 and 1/2 weeks of school it didn't really make sense. So now the question was when are we going to tell her. We booked this cruise in Feb. 08 while on our last cruise, so we have been keeping this secret for a long time. During this time one of my favorite things to do with her was she would come in my room and we would sit on my bed and just talk for hours about going on another Disney Cruise, and what we would do. We would always say how much fun it was to dream about it, and maybe someday it would happen.
Fast forward to her Birthday. I took the day off of work, and we got tickets to go into Boston to the Childrens Museum. It was such a beautiful day. Sunny and comportable, not all hot and sticky. We have had so much rain this summer that just seeing the sun made it a good day. As we drove by the cruise terminal, we were joking and saying things like hey, wouldn't it be great if we told you right now that we were going on a cruise. It was so much fun to just prented. Of course since it was Wednesday there were no ships in port to back up our plan. Then one of the best parts of the day, we found a metered parking space. Pure Gold in Boston. No paying $20. + to park in a Garage.
Earlier in the day my daughter set her alarm on her watch to 12:45. The time of her offical Birthday. While in the Museum we decide to go to one of those little shows where they pull the kids out of the audience to act in the play on stage. If you knew my daughter one of her most favorite things to do is to be on stage. It dosen't matter if she is acting or singing or in a talent contest, she just loves it all, and if she can't be on stage she loves going to all of the shows. That is why her and I love the Disney Cruise so much. The shows and entertainment is just so outstanding. While we were sitting there she got picked to be one of the actors on stage. Right there the best Birthday presents ever. While she was on stage I realized that it was almost 12:45. I got her attendion and pointed to my watch. The smile on her face was amazing. She was so excited when she was done she ran off of stage and said, I can't believe I turned 10 years old on stage!!!! I know so cheessy, and simple, but something that we will always remember. After that we went outside to have our picnic. We found a picnic table over looking Boston Harbor. It was just so pretty and perfect, and we were having such a fun day that I said to my husband what do you think should we make an announcement. So thats when we decide to tell. At firt we just said that we were going to the Magic Kingdom to go to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. That alone was enough and she was so excited. Then after a few minutes I said, well, since we are going to be in Florida for anouther week, why don't we just go on a Disney Cruise!!!! I have to say that there was jumping up and down, and lots and lots of screaming. Lets just say people were staring. It was the perfect time to tell her.
Since then all she has talked about is the cruise. I don't mind, but my husband is starting to tune her out. I asked her is she would of wanted us to not tell her, and she said no she would rather know so she could pack all of her stuff, but she did wish that the cruise was sooner.
