Ok, I am officially getting SO excited!!! DS and I went to get our passports yesterday and it was a breeze. :woohoo:

Also made a great trip to D*llar Tree for special vacation "treats" for DS and found they have a TON of great Mickey/Disney stuff! Not sure if that's the case everywhere...we're in Chicagoland...but if you need some cheap goodies to have on hand, you should check it out. We scored some great coloring & activity books, stickers, yo-yo's, puzzles, etc. Fun!! :cheer2:

It's a GREAT Day!!!

Yesterday I paid the cruise off.

I found out we were switched to Early Dinning.

Today was my daughter's 10th Birthday, and we finally told the kids that we are going!!!!

This is how we ended up telling her that we were going on a Disney Cruise.

The funny part about it was that we were not planning on telling her yet. My husband and I have been going back and forth trying to decide if we should tell her at all. I really wanted to just get in the car with the bags packed and say surprise, we are going to Disney for a few days. Then after a few days, say we are driving home, and drive to Port. How great it would have been to see her face when she saw the SHIP!!! My husband thought that we should tell her because the planning is half the fun, and I know how much she loves to plan out all of her outfits for the cruise. Then when I started to think about telling her teachers that she was going to miss 1 and 1/2 weeks of school it didn't really make sense. So now the question was when are we going to tell her. We booked this cruise in Feb. 08 while on our last cruise, so we have been keeping this secret for a long time. During this time one of my favorite things to do with her was she would come in my room and we would sit on my bed and just talk for hours about going on another Disney Cruise, and what we would do. We would always say how much fun it was to dream about it, and maybe someday it would happen.

Fast forward to her Birthday. I took the day off of work, and we got tickets to go into Boston to the Childrens Museum. It was such a beautiful day. Sunny and comportable, not all hot and sticky. We have had so much rain this summer that just seeing the sun made it a good day. As we drove by the cruise terminal, we were joking and saying things like hey, wouldn't it be great if we told you right now that we were going on a cruise. It was so much fun to just prented. Of course since it was Wednesday there were no ships in port to back up our plan. Then one of the best parts of the day, we found a metered parking space. Pure Gold in Boston. No paying $20. + to park in a Garage.

Earlier in the day my daughter set her alarm on her watch to 12:45. The time of her offical Birthday. While in the Museum we decide to go to one of those little shows where they pull the kids out of the audience to act in the play on stage. If you knew my daughter one of her most favorite things to do is to be on stage. It dosen't matter if she is acting or singing or in a talent contest, she just loves it all, and if she can't be on stage she loves going to all of the shows. That is why her and I love the Disney Cruise so much. The shows and entertainment is just so outstanding. While we were sitting there she got picked to be one of the actors on stage. Right there the best Birthday presents ever. While she was on stage I realized that it was almost 12:45. I got her attendion and pointed to my watch. The smile on her face was amazing. She was so excited when she was done she ran off of stage and said, I can't believe I turned 10 years old on stage!!!! I know so cheessy, and simple, but something that we will always remember. After that we went outside to have our picnic. We found a picnic table over looking Boston Harbor. It was just so pretty and perfect, and we were having such a fun day that I said to my husband what do you think should we make an announcement. So thats when we decide to tell. At firt we just said that we were going to the Magic Kingdom to go to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. That alone was enough and she was so excited. Then after a few minutes I said, well, since we are going to be in Florida for anouther week, why don't we just go on a Disney Cruise!!!! I have to say that there was jumping up and down, and lots and lots of screaming. Lets just say people were staring. It was the perfect time to tell her.

Since then all she has talked about is the cruise. I don't mind, but my husband is starting to tune her out. I asked her is she would of wanted us to not tell her, and she said no she would rather know so she could pack all of her stuff, but she did wish that the cruise was sooner.

Hey!! I'm Emma. I'll be 14 when we sail and I'm going into eighth grade. This is going to be my first time in the Stack, and I'm not sure what to expect. I would really appreciate it if someone could let me know what it's like.

My sister Lauren, who is 10, is coming on the cruise along with her friend Megan who's 10, too.

Chat with us and meet other friends before you even set foot on the ship!!! :thumbsup2

Oh good grief people. I leave for 5 hours to drive to the coast for vacation and you fill up another few pages. Now cut that out!

stulaurie, what a great story! What precious memories all of you will have from that.

Gail, not trying to throw a monkey wrench into the SM, but we leave 11/4 for WDW, so if SM assignments go out 10/31, I'm in deep doo-doo. Any possibility for 10/15 instead?

Good evening all!
Wow, you guys are talkers! I am still trying to get caught up since we were late bookers and then you add so many more pages! Well, we paid the cruise in full (I also booked the REAS) so I was able to book Palo this weekend. it is crazy our last cruise we planned forever (2 years) and now it is right around the corner!

Do any of you know what our schedule is for dining? Pirate night? I am feeling so unprepared..

Well I am looking for flights now and am contemplating booking with Disney have any of you done that? The flights out of here are never a good deal anyway and with disney it would cover our hotel and transfers. Last time we drove 8 hours to minneapolis to fly. I really do not want to do that again.

Well I am going to try to get caught up with this thread and start researching some excursions!

Holy Cow! So many pages in so little time. We blasted past the 2K number of posts and are fast approaching the 40K views mark. So I thought I'd slip in here to continue the trend.

I've been putting off the payments for as long as possible in hopes of seeing the announcements of either the Fla resident cruise rate discounts or the soon to be debuting DisneyRebates program. This new deal should be coming out within the next 30 days, and was quietly talked about on page 12 in our Pretrippie. Either one would be a welcome relief to a stressed budget. So maybe we skip Bingo, at least we will be there to celebrate with the winners. I'll just leave old clunky shoes hanging for another week or two, as it's his turn to make me an offer.

Love your story!!! I've always wanted to go to Boston...I can imagine the harbor now!

WAY TO GO!!!:banana::banana: It sure feels good doesn't it? I bet you will be smiling for several days. Although we are cruising on DVC point this time so I paid in full when I booked - and I am still grinning.

As far as the FE goes - it is like a teeter/totter. One side with the earlier cutoff so there is time and then the later time or no cutoff so no one is missed. Our October '08 cruise (or did we talk about this pages ago on this trip) had 2 lists. One with a cutoff date and another for those that joined in after the date. I will be sure to have some extra, in any case.

Can you all believe that it is August? Next Sunday at midnight I can book for the the Nov 7th cruise. My countdown is in double digits. My packing list is completed, my flights, car rental and hotel are done so things are being checked off the list. Enjoy your evening everyone.

Good for you!!!! I've got everything done too...gotta love OCD!

Can we get a shout out??? We are officially PAID IN FULL!!!!! :cool1::cool1:

KC, Mickey did ask if I knew where you had been recently when I made my payment... Just thought I'd warn ya!

:cheer2:  :cool1:

I didn't think about all of that - sorry!! The earlier cutoff makes sense looking at all that!

I think the earlier the better...I will just have to bring extras!

SM's are Secret Mickey's - think Secret Santa. The rules are posted in post #1076. I also copied them earlier today (or maybe yesterday) so you could check back a few pages. Then there will be a reveal at lunch on the last sea day so everyone knows where all their great gifts came from. You will receive your assignment by the end of October (isn't that what we decided Susie?).

I think we better make it earlier. I may be ordering something online and you know how the good looking UPS guy meanders over!

Well, I'm not 14, but I will tell you that my boys and their cousins had a blast on our last cruise. They really liked that no parents were allowed and they could order smoothies at the "bar". Go to the DCL website and take a tour. I'm sure some of our teens will chime in soon...BTW: Emma is one of my favorite names...my 4 year-old is named Emma.

Oh good grief people. I leave for 5 hours to drive to the coast for vacation and you fill up another few pages. Now cut that out!

Where you going?

Works for me...

Good evening all!

Hey!! I'm Emma. I'll be 14 when we sail and I'm going into eighth grade.

Hi Emma! My boys are going to be 14 and 16 when we sail. I'll try to talk them into popping on here to say hi. If your parents allow it, one of them has his IM addy listed over on our workbook. The other one seldom has his IM up so he decided not to list. But if you're allowed you could get his IM and start chatting that way. But I'll also try to get them to post on here.

As for the Stack, EM#1 loved it last time. He definitely liked the "no parents allowed" thing. I did go up there one time just to look around (got permission from both Disney and EM#1 LOL) and it did look like a really comfortable place to hang out.

I think I figured how to post a multiple reply...thank goodness!:surfweb:

Congrats!!!! It does make it a bit easier, doesn't it?

Hey y'all,

I thought 18+ was adult for DCL clubs and such. One person on the spreadsheet indicated that their 18yo was going to be in The Stack. Maybe it's that kids' personal preference, but I'm just curious if this is another aging change DCL made that I didn't know about.

Hi y'all,

I just tried to invite CalsMom to view the workbook (spreadsheet) using the email address provided. Google told me it couldn't invite this person because they didn't have a Google account. I've NEVER gotten this message before. I don't know if this means any trouble.... did everyone have to get google accts before they could view the workbook? I'm just wondering if this bodes trouble for new cruisers.

If I remember correctly, I had to sign up for a google acct. I have so many accounts for so many different tings, they're all blending. LOL

we got tickets to go into Boston to the Childrens Museum.

OMG!! I almost took the kids to the Children's Museum. How funny if we would have been there the same day!

I can't believe you can keep a secret so long. There's NO WAY I could have done that. I can just imagine the scene when you told her. Thanks for sharing.

I had to create an account yesterday.

I did months ago...

Hi gang,

It's Monday, but it is a long weekend here so it's a no-work Monday, which makes it a good Monday... :lmao:

We just ordered tickets to MVMCP!! We are going on Thursday, Nov 12th and we are all really looking forward to it. That makes our pre-cruise WDW schedule look like this

Nov 10 - arrive at AKV Kidani Village
Nov 11 - Animal Kingdom park, move to Bay Lake Tower
Nov 12 - relax by the pool all day, MVMCP that evening
Nov 13 - flip a coin and do either EPCOT or Hollywood Studios

Things are falling into place quickly here... all the activities are reserved, all the transportation is arranged, all the accomodations booked, just need to grab park tickets for two days. Since we will have access to our own laundry facilities at BLT, and can do laundry on the ship, I'm thinking we will pack for about 4 days, which should lighten things up considerably (DW is a compulsive over-packer). We learned our lesson last cruise when we took a whole lot more stuff than we needed. I think I'll even rent myself a tux thru Cruiseline Formal this time, to save having to pack (and de-wrinkle) clothes for formal night. Hopefully Sarah can still fit into her Cinderellla dress she wore in March.

I just had an idea of another pre-cruise icebreaker for those who wish to participate. We actually did this on the cruise meet thread of our last cruise.

Everyone who wants to, posts a photo so we know who's who in the zoo before we actually meet on embarkation day. If this is NOT your first Disney Cruise, then post your favourite photo of you on a previous Disney cruise.

I'll start off... here is the RookieMouse family on formal night last cruise...

Have a good week, everyone!
