I agree we need a cutoff date, but would 30 days out be better? 6 weeks out just seems like a really long time...

Also - I'm in shock - we've filled over 3 pages since I got off work Friday - and it's just Sunday morning!! I think the reality of the cruise being so close is hitting!

Cutoff - if it takes a week to order and receive what is needed and a few to get it assembled and then maybe a week to ship it (and those from Canada that will be shipping their gifts may need to allow 2 plus weeks, I have no idea, that is just a guess) we almost need five to six weeks. Plus, if anyone is spending any time at the parks (or on the ship) will need that extra time. We can always make extras for those that find us after the cutoff date - and I can tell you, there will be additions. So - if anyone is lurking out there and you have not announced yourself - please join us in the fun and let us get to know you too.

And then I totally agree with the rate we have been adding pages. Too fun! Can you imagine what life would be like had you not found the DIS and not joined this group?

I'm baaaaaaaaccckkkkk

(as everyone runs quickly to the other side of the ship, I'm sure!)

There is a Secret Mickey tab on the spreadsheet where you need to sign up. It is an individual activity and open to any adult that would like to participate, just remember that everyone participates as an individual. I have copied the original email below so that everyone understands - and doesn't have to go back through and find it.

What about if a person wants to particpate in SM and doesn't have a DIS identity (i.e., a hubby or whatever), instead of writing in their name in the DISBoardName column, they write in "hubby of XXXX" or whatever. Would that work?

Or... I could make it like the IM list. I just added Eating Machine #1 to the IM list because he'd love to get to know the other teens. For the DISBoard name I put mine so y'all would know how he relates to the group. On that sheet I have a relationship column so I just put "Son" and his name in there. I couold add a column like that to the SM sheet.

Gail, it's completely and totally up to you and Susie. Just let me know if you want me to add another column. It's easier'n pie! :cool1:

That sound good to me. So it will be a "relationship" column? It gives us a point of contact and cabin # right?:surfweb:

Could someone please PM me the spreadsheet link? I have been on it but not from this computer (or Foxfire ate my favorites). I honestly can't remember the column names but name needs to be added if it isn't there. Suppose we could make the relationship and DIS name - like if David signed up he would be DH to glindamood - be one colummn would that work? However but I don't think everyone needs a DIS name. I will need a way to notify people as well so an email (not a PM as these very people can't be PM'd either) needs added.

Was that in English? Sounding pretty gibberishy to me!

I added a relationship column to the left of the Disboard name column. So if someone wants to add her hubby, she can just put "hubby" in that column. That way we'll have the person's name and likes, the Disboard name to which they're connected and the relationship. The cabin # was already on there.

Hopefully that'll help.

The fact that I could follow it means it must have been convoluted! But it sounds good to me. I've added the column for relationship. And I'll PM you the link.

Could you add email address to the sheet as well please? If everyone puts in an email address, I can just email a distribution and not have to worry.

Right, that's what I was really asking, I knew what the "rules" were and my DH wanted to do it, but I didn't see any spouses or anything listed on the spreadsheet. Maybe it was too early for me to write it clearer. Thanks. I like Denise's idea of another column.

Either way, 6 week or 4 weeks for a cut off date is too late for me to actually get it all together (With Halloween, packing and planning for 2 weeks, Thanksgiving and Type A personality disorder :) ). I've just ordered with alot of buffer. Because I hope that more people are going to join us! But if I had to choose, I'd like the 6 weeks.

Woot and congrats!!!!!

I can't imagine having to live without a computer. I remember when the power was out I packed my butt up to head to Starbucks and left KC to deal with the power issues. I'd go into SERIOUS withdrawals without my computer.

Which leads me to my next question..... anyone know what Verizon charges for sending/receiving data updates while cruising? Probably something obscene, but I think I'm gonna have to check. I'm definitely going to want to be tweeting and updating Facebook with pictures while I'm gone.

Welcome back! Computerless + internetless =
..and that would be me without, not you. I would have to go into the office daily to check and stay late to get my "stuff" done.

Thanks, Travelbee. My DD turns 7 the day after we get back. In fact, that is one of the reasons we are cruising that week. It is celebration week in our house. We celebrate our Anniversay right before the cruise (Nov. 11), my birthday is Nov. 21 - its a "big" one (the day we leave the ship) and DD's birthday is Nov.22.

I totally agree about helping the DD make a few freinds before she gets there. I want her to have friends to help her get over any fear or uncertainty so she can jump right into the kid fun.

When my Lauren gets back we will contact you and see how we can arrange for them to chat and make friends.

:cool1:

My DH and I celebrate the "big"one next year. My birthday is 11/20. Next year is also our 15 year wedding anniversary. So, we are doing the 12 night northern european capitals one next year to celebrate all that.

Are we talking about the same big one?:rotfl:

Wow...there has been alot of info this weekend. I would like the cutoff at least 4 weeks out. I'm a local and am not shipping anything, but I know I will be very busy the month before. I know what I'm doing now, so gonna start to try to crank some out before school starts. Plus the other things, my boys all want me to make them a different shirt for each day. I still have to get their "treats"together. My toughest one is my 10 (at time of sailing) year old. I think he is in that in between stage. I don't want to get him anything too "kiddy". For school, he already told me he was too big for a character lunchbox and backpack. He wants just plain colors now. At least, he still likes to go on the cruises. Not sure what I'm taking to be autographed. I have done the pillowcases, homemade autograph books, and photo mat. Any other ideas?

I'm going to make final payment tomorrow thru my TA, so that I know I'll definitely be able to make those ressies.
We aren't planning on any excursions this time. Aside from the DIS stuff, I just totally want to "veg"out. We are planning on Palo's for brunch and dinner. Does anyone know, is the first sea day formal night? We are also planning on a couple of spa treatments, don't know which yet. Other than that, we'll probably be poolside if the kids are in the club or lab.

I don't think so, My big is the 5-0 version. Yikes!

Can we get a shout out??? We are officially PAID IN FULL!!!!! :cool1::cool1:

KC, Mickey did ask if I knew where you had been recently when I made my payment... Just thought I'd warn ya!

I didn't think about all of that - sorry!! The earlier cutoff makes sense looking at all that!

WAY TO GO!!!:banana::banana: It sure feels good doesn't it? I bet you will be smiling for several days. Although we are cruising on DVC point this time so I paid in full when I booked - and I am still grinning.

As far as the FE goes - it is like a teeter/totter. One side with the earlier cutoff so there is time and then the later time or no cutoff so no one is missed. Our October '08 cruise (or did we talk about this pages ago on this trip) had 2 lists. One with a cutoff date and another for those that joined in after the date. I will be sure to have some extra, in any case.

Can you all believe that it is August? Next Sunday at midnight I can book for the the Nov 7th cruise. My countdown is in double digits. My packing list is completed, my flights, car rental and hotel are done so things are being checked off the list. Enjoy your evening everyone.

Congrats and Hi. Yes, It's hard to believe it's reservation time.:Pinkbounc:cheer2::cloud9::cool1:

me and my significant other have been having fun deciding on this and that, and this and that,etc.:love2::hug:

then we ask the kids and :scared1:

I know I missed a month or 2, but what are the sm's:eek:. I had trouble enough figuring out the FE:confused3.

SM's are Secret Mickey's - think Secret Santa. The rules are posted in post #1076. I also copied them earlier today (or maybe yesterday) so you could check back a few pages. Then there will be a reveal at lunch on the last sea day so everyone knows where all their great gifts came from. You will receive your assignment by the end of October (isn't that what we decided Susie?).
