11/14/09 - Special Western - 2 CC stops

This trip will be just the 4 of us. DS will be 11 and DD will be 8. Last cruise there were 14 of us (my brother and 2 sisters and their families).

We probably won't do MVMCP if it is that expensive... but we will take the DCL bus the morning of the cruise. I was also looking at one of the dolphin encounters, as we didn't do the Tortola one on our eastern.

Now that we know what to expect onboard, I would like to try some of the tours and the adult seminars. DS will be in OQ this time and DD will be in the Lab. We have already put in a request for the same server we had on the last trip, as he was phenomenal.

Sailing with 14 extended family was fun (especially since it was everyone's first cruise)... but just the 4 of us will be nice.

Our DD's will be the same age. That is awesome! I think there are about 4 or 5 DD's that will be 8. Have you ever requested a dining rotation? We are planning on doing some of the seminars and tours as well. I am looking forward to a 7 day. Our last two have been the shorter cruises. Not as much time to relax in my book.

We are spoiled, I guess. Our first and only cruise so far was a 7-day. I just can't see travelling as far as we will have to just for a 3 or 4 day cruise.

As for dining rotation, we haven't requested one... last cruise we got PLAPLAP, which is what I was hoping for. That put us in Lumiere's for formal night and Parrot Cay for Pirate Night. But the nights are not the same on the western, as far as I have seen, so will probably just take what we get. We enjoyed all 3 dining rooms anyway, and definitely loved Palo.

Whew!!! It's been busy, busy, busy. But I have been thinking about the shirts, just haven't had time to find another potential place to have them done. I'll try to find some time to look this week.

MsTxMom - countdown panties??????? Great rememberance about the over the door hangers! Yeah, they really made a difference on our cruise too.

Hi there RookieMouse!!! Great to have ya with us!!!!!!!!! I'm also hopng to do more of the shipboard tours and such. I think I have a thread over on the private board about it. I'll have to check. But if I don't, when you get on there just let me know. It'd be fun if we could do some of them together.

Okay, I guess I'd best be off working on my site again. That's what I've been doing all day.

On our recent Eastern cruise on the Magic, we had Palo brunch with a number of our cruise meet friends. Among them were Dave and Michael, a middle-aged gay couple from Germany, who seemed to be making a career out of cruising (I think Michael works in the airline or travel industry and gets big discounts). They were on their second week of a back-to-back on the Magic, and had been on... get this... 67 CRUISES... before finally deciding to sail with Mickey.

I read the review as well - I always love it when people "get" the DCL and all that the mouse has to offer. I have learned it isn't for everyone but everyone should try it at least once.

I hope that everyone is doing well and spring is spring into action for you. I woke up to half a foot of new snow yesterday - will it ever end?? Sun is shining now so lots will be gone as it was pretty wet but still....

I read this cruise review as well and LOVED it!! The fact that such a cruise veteran can still be surprised and go into it with such an open mind is a very refreshing thing!!

BTW, visited the consignment store today to drop off some more stuff and was told that I have $150. already in my account - into the Cruise Fund Baby!!!

Yeah, Gail,.... don't even send it here. I'm enjoying these evenings where I can sit outside with the computer and get some work done.

No, Lisa, I hadn't thought of Zazzle. I knew they had "make your own" Disney shirts but I didn't know they could use graphics I uploaded.

I think that it might be better if everyone made their own shirts rather than me making one and offering it "for sale" (even without any profit being made on my part). That way we won't run into the same problems we had with CafePress. What I can do is make the graphic available for y'all to download from our "private" DDD site. Then y'all can download the graphic to your computer and upload it to Zazzle when you make your shirts. The interface for making a shirt over there is really user friendly and easy so I don't think anyone will have any trouble and if you do you can always call me (I'll put my cell number on our private page too).

I'll do this as soon as I recover my password to upload things to the private site. I've got an email into the host now. Last week I had a virus on my computer and I ended up having to wipe the hard drive. Fortunately, the DDD graphic was on my external hard drive so no worries there, but I don't remember my password to make changes to the private site. As soon as I get that back we'll be back in business.

Great suggestion, Lisa! Now I'm off to explore Zazzle some more!

Well, at least you did manage to get on with the Disney cruise group there is.... us!

As far as I know, no one's planned a pre-cruise meet at WDW but there's lots else going on. If you'll PM me your email address I'll get you authorized to view/edit the google docs spreadsheet I'm keeping. It tracks who's going to be at the DISMeet on Saturday, who's dressing for pirate night, who has what kids coming along, what kinds of things you like (in case you want to participate in the Secret Mickey), who's participating in the fish extender exchange, who's dressing for pirate night, etc.

We also have a "private" board. I put private in quotes because it's not behind a firewall or anything but instead we guard the link by only giving it out to folks that PM me. So just shoot me a PM and I'll give you that too.

You're going to love this group of folks. Everyone is so kind and wonderful and fun! Well, everyone's kind except me... I do have a reputation to maintain, you know.

Hey, everyone else... my webhost lady is out of town until Friday (hey.. you get what you pay for and our private board is free so I can't really complain about her going to visit her new grandbaby. Especially when she was so apologetic). But once she's back and I get the password, I'll make the graphic available for download. Very true. But it does give us Westcoasters another option of sailing with Disney closer to home, which I like. But I think before I do a Mexican cruise, that I'll want to do a cruise on one of the new ships. In fact, I plan to rebook onboard for that specific reason.

Yeah, I caught that when gathering the news for my website the other day. I dunno... I guess if I lived on the west cost I might be occasionally tempted. It's kind of like someone on one of my other lists the other day was asking if they should go to WDW on Memorial Day weekend since that's the only time they could get away. They were worried about the crowds. to me, it was a no-brainer question.... let's see.... go to WDW and have it be crowded or not go to WDW at all. Hmmmmmmmmm......

Mousemom, what part of the west coast are you in? Anywhere near San Fransisco? I think that's where "The Presidio" is? That's where they're building that new Walt Disney museum. It's a project that Diane Disney Miller has been spearheading but they signed on some Harvard trained museum curator guy. I don't remember all the details (pop over to my website for the news article if you're interested) but I do remember thinking it should be a pretty cool place to visit. If you're close by and ever do go, could you send me pictures?

As for rebooking...... I keep hoping. Um, KC, you know, those new ships are gonna be mighty nice.... mighty fine indeed.

It will. We're going to wish away the whole summer and the cruise is going to go by lickety-split. But see that's the beauty of scrapbooking and such. I made the fun from the last cruise last months because KC was writing the trip report and I was scrapping it up and that's a fun way to relive the magic. And besides, we'll have each other and we can reminisce together.

But that also sounds like a good reason to rebook. I can't imagine a way to feel better about a cruise ending than to know you've got another one coming.

KC is asleep in the bed right now but I can just see what he's gonna look like when he reads this post. He'll be all like

In regards to the Wonder moving to LA - I put myself on a TA's list yesterday to do the repo. I missed the last 4 chances but hopefully the gods will be with us and we will be able to do it. I really, really want to take that trip with DCL.

As far as wishing a summer away - right now I just wish this dang snow away - it is coming down now, more, still, it just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and, well, you know - ON!

We have all been home sick this past week and just want to move past it. I stuck my head outside this morning and noticed my spring bulbs are just about to bloom! Pink Tulips!!! Our cherry blossom trees are in full bloom as well. ( We live near DC) Which I think means SPRING is here!!!

Sorry about all the snow up north, but I'm sure spring is just around the corner for you as well. One season closer to our DD Cruise!!

I mentioned to my DH about the Wonder moving to LA and how much fun it would be......I also pointed out that if he can't go, I have a couple of friends I could go with! ha ha You can never plant a seed to early is my motto!

Gosh, we just just got off the Magic last Saturday 03/28 and I'm missing it so bad. So, come on November, hurry up and get here already. I don't want to wish the summer away either but I want to go back now. Actually I felt that way about five minutes after we were off the ship. I kept asking my mom if they would notice if we stayed onboard.(a person can try can't they?) I guess after booking our airline this morning we are now one step closer though. The funny thing is, after taking care of the airline this morning, I called my mom and was telling her about it and mentioned to her that I checked out an eastern cruise for December 2010 and before I could finish what I was telling her, she said "BOOK IT!". WooHoo Now we have another cruise to look forward to.
