Hi there all,

Just popping in to say hi and keep track of things. You know I've been so flighty and busy lately. But I want y'all to know that I'm having a great time thinking about you and planning all the fun we're going to have.

Just so I know I'm not forgetting anything I'm supposed to do and not doing something someone else is doing, I made up a list of who's doing what. Please let me know if I'm not correct here:

Gail
Planning Lumiere's lunch (probably Thursday)
Reserving room for Palos brunch (since she'll be on board the week before)
Secret Mickey Name Jumbler & Disburser #1 (along with sandiegosusie)

Me
Gathering headcount for Palos brunch & faxing master list to Disney
Gathering headcount for fish extender (kids) & getting that to y'all
Personalization for t-shirt graphic (and y'all let me know if you want something changed about the graphic. I'm thinking I'll probably fade out the edges so it's not so sharp. Other than that what did you like/dislike?)

MouseMom
Planning the DISMeet on Saturday

SandiegoSusie
Secret Mickey Name Jumbler & Disburser #2

Do we still want to do Hershey's Kisses poker? MaryAz was going to take point on that. If we still want to do it we need someone to organize it (i.e., figure out when and where and who all's going to play and such).

Oh, and regarding the Secret Mickey, I would suggest if someone gets their spouse's name that you re-draw. I think it'd be more fun getting something from someone else, but that's up to you SM folks.

The guys were putting together a Cigar & Cognac night weren't they? Was that MaryAz's hubby or someone else?

Gotta run... catch y'all later! Only 269 days!!!!!!

Sorry we haven't been on :surfweb: for a while. Both of us have been  .I like the idea of the FE's for the kids and the SM for the adults :thumbsup2 . What do we get and at what price? Any ideas? :rolleyes1

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Maybe we could have a form to fill out? You know - favorite colors, firsttime/repeat cruiser, scrapbook yes/no, that kind of thing. If no one else was planning to put that together, I'd be happy to! But Gail and Sandiegosusie, if you were planning on putting something like that together - that's fine! I don't want to step on your toes!

Denise - the design looks great! (how did you know I'm partial to ice cream with cherries in it???). by fading out the edges, did you mean the outside edge of the whole design? I think that would be really nice.

A form is part of the plan along with guidelines. Once Sandiegosusie and I get our arms around this we will pose some questions as there will be some decisions to be made as in total $$ to spend, # of gifts, and how we want to handle the "reveal". Please be patient with us and we will post something ASAP. We promise, we do, we do.

Gee Sandiegosusie, you must be in my pocket as I pretty freely threw that 'we' around, didn't I???

Sounds good to me!! Thanks again for taking this on!!

(and this is a "bump" - no second page for this lovely cruise group!!!)

A possible suggestion for the secret mickey - instead of the complications and recordkeeping inherent in a questionaire, how about each family brings something with a minimum value of oh, say 10$ from their home state?

Last year on another cruise we did that - just drew a name at the DIS meet that person drew another name and received that person's present and so forth. The last person got the first person's gift.

I brought maple syrup, maple candy and post cards from NY and received a nice spiral bound 'Roberts family cookbook' from the family I drew.

The other plus to this method is - if someone winds up canceling it doesn't matter - no one present is left 'giftless'.

:scared1: Page two - not for us!

Off from work today and tomorrow so a 4 day weekend for me. The dog needs a bath which I am not really looking forward to. My shower is a stall but not quite big enough for both of us and the tub/shower does not have a hand held shower head.

And - it is snowing, hard. We were supposed to get around half a foot last night but maybe their timing was off and it is coming now.

Take care and have a great day.

So, you'll be getting a free shower/bath too!!:rotfl: :rotfl: It's snowing really hard here as well. Luckily DH put a new belt on the snowblower last weekend and it worked great this morning.

LindaBabe - I like the idea of a gift exchange for the Secret Mickey - it could save alot of work for Susie and Gail. To be totally honest, I'm flexible either way.

Sad day for me - I'm going to my friend's funeral (she was only 37). Makes me appreciate my friends and family even more and looking towards making more lasting memories on our cruise.

Cheers,
Lisa

Was there not talk of some sort of gift exchange (white elephant type) at the DIS meet??? Personally, I would rather do SM than just that one gift exchange as I like getting things during the week but this is a group and we will do what the majority wants to.

And  to you Lisa - how awful - I am so sorry. Prayers to you and your friend's family as well.

I'm okay with either SM or white elephant, or both. But I like the idea of having some guidelines/set value for both!

Lisa - so sorry about your friend. It's tough to see somemone goes at such a young age. DH lost a friend last month from cancer. His friend was also in his thirties and left behind a wife and a young child, which really breaks our hearts.

Is that the friend you mentioned a few posts back? I am so sorry! I actually went to the doctor today and found out the biopsy they took came out benign. It has been a rough few weeks not knowing...my older brother died on his 40th birthday from leukemia. Losing someone is horrible...again I am so sorry...

I personally can do either exchange. Whatever everyone wants is fine with me...The SM is more fun in my book but then again, were on a cruise, everything we do will be fun...

Yes, it was the same friend - she leaves behind a loving DH and a DS7. I cried so much yesterday that I didn't have any tears left for Grey's Anatomy - how pathetic, huh?!?!? Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts....

Sandiegosusie, VERY glad to hear that everything is okay medically!! We don't need any more worries, do we?!?

Okay, here's my 2 cents worth. We could do a gift exchange at the DIS Meet (something from where you live), Secret Mickey for those cabins that want to participate and FE gifts for kids. That way everyone can decide what they want to participate in and there's no pressure to join in if you don't want to...(can you tell I'm a people pleaser?

President Obama was here yesterday - quite exciting for everyone involved. A friend took her 2 kids down to Parliament Hill. I told her she could have just come to my place since he stopped by for a cup of tea on the way back to the airport!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a great day everyone!

I like the idea of having options and people can pick and choose what they want to participate in!

Hi y'all! Sneaking in with some thoughts (for whatever they're worth)

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Maybe we could have a form to fill out? You know - favorite colors, firsttime/repeat cruiser, scrapbook yes/no, that kind of thing. Yes, I did mean fading out the edges. I'll try to get that done this weekend and give y'all a sample. I'm also trying to figure out how to do the personalization if folks want it. Can't use what I did last cruise because it's too identifiable with Disney and I don't think CafePress would print it.

Gail/Susie, if y'all need me to put something else up on Google docs, just let me know. (or if you have already let me know, beat me in the head so the memory shakes loose).

in total $$ to spend, # of gifts, and how we

Whatever y'all decide is fine with me but I suggest we keep it in the $20'ish range (i.e., maybe $15-$25). Or am I being cheap?

A possible suggestion for the secret mickey - instead of the complications and recordkeeping inherent in a questionaire, how about each family brings something with a minimum value of oh, say 10$ from their home state?

I like this idea better for the white elephant... which I forgot to include in my list of who's doing what. I can't remember who volunteered to take that on. (must be my age showing). Does the volunteer want to step forward or are you happy that I've forgotten? :rotfl2:

Personally, I'd love to do both the white elephant, the Secret Mickey and the Fish Exchange for the kids. King Charming's probably not going to love me for saying that but I'm spoiled rotten (as a princess should be, right?) and I love getting and giving gifts.

Speaking of kids.... as far as I remember, we've got 3 teenagers on this cruise. I think we should let it be up to the teens as to whether they participate in the Fish Exchange or the Secret Mickey. You know, let them decide whether they want to be included in the kid group or the adult group. What'dy'all think?

And - it is snowing, hard. We were supposed to get around half a foot last night but maybe their timing was off and it is coming now.

And again, all we get is cold. No snow. No fun. Just the bone-chilling cold with no fun to mitigate it. :sad2:

Sad day for me - I'm going to my friend's funeral (she was only 37).

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It's so much harder on those left behind when they're taken so young. You're in my prayers.

And Susie, I'm glad your procedure turned out that everything is okay! Now you can get back to the fun of planning, huh?

Okay... so there's my thoughts. See... I'm trying to be a good girl and get over here more often. I REALLY appreciate y'all being so patient with me about all that. But boy, howdy, you should have seen all the scouting requirements I found that can be met or enhanced by riding on the Walt Disney World Railroad. And this morning I found a bunch for the flag lowering ceremony and even a thing or two that can be met by riding on the old-timey transportation between the town square and the hub. And of course, all that got fed into the website. So at least my time away from my dear friends here is productive.

 That would be me. mrp and I are planning the DIS meet on Saturday. My apologies to you all. I haven't been around much recently. I'm a CPA and am in the depths of tax season now. I'll be back with a vengeance after April 15th and will get busy then on the meet planning.

Hi all, it's taken me quite a while to do this but I finally forced myself to hit the send button tonight on an email to DU requesting that they cancel my reservation so if anyone is interested in this cabin it should be up for grabs in the next day or two (can't remember the hours of DU on weekends).

DD15 doesn't want to miss school anymore (which I really can't complain about) but mostly, I just can't justify the cost any more. DH hasn't had much for work for several months now and I'm seeing major cutbacks where I work so at this point I'd rather have the deposit back to pay off some bills and plan a cheaper vacation somewhere this summer. We have a trip to Belize planned for April so that makes canceling the cruise not hurt "quite" as bad.

I hate to give up the 10% discount and $400 OBC but with DD being in highschool I just don't see another Disney cruise in the near future, we've been on the Wonder twice so we've been fortunate enough to experience DCL.

I got the ok to book from family tonight....sister is coming home from the hospital this week, so she has 8 months to pull it together and re-learn how to walk :) . I watched our ship pull out today via webcams...:sad1: , I called my mom, we watched together and cried. So, to dull the pain, it is time to rebook again, just have to find the best deal. Hopefully this next week I will get to post that I will be officially joining you. This is such a great group of Disers, our dis meet for the magic that left today wasn't nearly as spirited. Can't wait to join you.

Marci

Sorry Jeanne B that you won't be joining us but I totally understand as well. Kudos to your son for not wanting to miss school - mine would not miss their sports but school - that one they would have been all over.

Marci - so happy to hear your sister will be released this week and that you will be able to book. Can't wait for your next post!

Well, our snow was way down until yesterday. We have at least a fresh new foot out there and it is still coming down. I made the mistake of watching the weather on TV yesterday and there is another storm they are watching which will make this look like a dusting. I can hardly wait!!!

JeanneB - sorry to hear that you won't be joining us but at least you have another vacation booked (and to Belize, no less!!). It's hard in these economic times but we'll all get thru it okay!!

Marci - glad to hear that your sister is on the road to recovery. The next 8 months will be tough but I'll be thinkin' about ya'! I hope you are able to join us on this cruise - as you can see we're a fun bunch -

Gail - um, yeah, thanks for sending your snow our way - much appreciated - NOT!!:rotfl: :rotfl: My DH has almost recovered from his bad flu bug just in time to rev up the old snowblower...

Cheers everyone!!
Lisa
