11/13/04 Eastern Cruise only We Did It

Back from PA and two days of heavenly grandbaby smooching.:D

Vicki, I am sorry to hear about Andy's brother. It must be so hard on his family. Please send my condolences and I will keep them in my prayers.

Jen, that nursing home plan is the same one my sis and I have talked about using. And, ha ha, it looks like us baby boomers will beat the rest of ya'll to the good rooms! (actually, I'm not sure thats a good thing :scratchin )

Athene, glad to know my son has two birthday mates that day. He's actually a bit annoyed to be going on the cruise on his birthday! We are taking 10 friends to see The Incredibles the week before, instead of a big birthday party.

I am going to try and be at the meeting at 2:30 on the 13th, perhaps when my husband is decorating our stateroom.

I don't know if this is old news to any of you, but I just called DCL to find out if we're docking or tendering in St. Thomas. I found out that we'll be docking at Havensight Mall, which helps with my pre-planning.

I didn't realize that most of the excursions don't allow kids under 3 (all but one)--when it didn't give a price I thought that kids under that age were free. I guess it's a good thing that we were planning our own thing.

When I called, I was fortunate to get a great agent named Jason, someone that my husband and I both worked with when we started our careers at the Disney Reservation Center almost 11 years ago!

Is this a good thing or a bad thing that we are docking at Havensight Mall? Can't say that I have looked that closely, yet.

I think it is a good thing. My understanding is that if you have to tender, then you get off the disney ship to load onto a smaller "boat" to get to shore and then the same thing to get back on the ship. But if you dock at Havensight Mall, then you simply exit the ship. Somebody please correct me if I am mistaken. If I'm right, hope that helped! LOL

How was everyone's Monday?

Hi everyone ,
This is lovinlife from N.Y. (Long Island) Poohjen invited me over. Looking forward to cruise on 11/13/04

Correct...this is a good thing....u just walk right off the ship......so more time onshore and less waiting in line for the tender.
Plus, the tender ride can be rocky depending on the seas....so yes,,,it is VERY good! :jester: :jester: :jester:

Everyone have a good week and give an extra {{{HUG}}} to your loved ones......::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Evening everyone! One more week under our belts and the cruise moves ever closer. I've been working like crazy trying to get spending money and such together. The funny thing is, I finally get off work (after 12 hour shift) and instead of going home I come to my parent's office soI an check the boards and see how everyone is doing.

Vicki, I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your friend's rother. Prayers and good wishes are with his family and friends as they go through this difficult time.

I think the tag idea is really cool. I definately want to meet others on this cruise and that seems like another great way to do it.

Susan, Not to add to your luggage but, the towels on the ship are standard size. (I couldn't remember if this was your first cruise or not). You may want to bring your aboard if you want bigger towels for after swimming or anything.

Suzanne, welcome to another memer of the group. Hope to see you at the meet!

PoohJen, Congratulations on the Patriots. Although I'm a Cowboys fan, my good friend and workmate Chris is a huge Patriots fan so we all end up cheering for them. One more game...

Phew, I think that was everything on the little note I jotted while reading. LOL I finally got plane tickets so now I know that I'm flying to Orlando on Friday and staying at Disney before taking the shuttle to the port.

We just came back from checking our local Disney Store for any good deals. My oh my the snowglobes!!! Too bad we just bought a second curio cabinet to hold the ones I already have!!!

I know this feeling. I have one cabinet full of Walt Disney Classics Collection (and I'm not happy that Belle shares a shelf with Snow White and Dopey and Sneezy!!). Dad keeps finding things we haven't unpacked from when we moved two years ago. From 4 1/2 years of working for the Disney Store (and many more of just shopping there), I have "several" (read: I can't remember how many) snowglobes and other breakables. So we were at IKEA this weekend (after a stop at the Disney Store) scoping out a second cabinet. Now we just have to decide where they will go. Dad doesn't think the one we have is in a good spot because no one can really see the stuff in it.

It's been awhile (again not getting updates...need to be reminded to check thread or I get caught up in my life and forget!!). Who do I report my weight loss progress to? I'm down three from last week...WOO HOO!

LOL Carolyn, I think you got things a little backward in your post.

PoohJen, Congratulations on the Patriots

Jen is a Bills fan. I was rubbing in the fact that the Patriots whipped up on the Bills bad yesterday.

Jen tell your husband they will have to turn the tables in Nov. There is still hope.

I am sucking in fantasy football so far this year. :worried: :sad1:  I am 1-3. Oh well, I guess you can't make it to the playoffs every year. And the season is still young.

St. Thomas Skyride to Paradise Point St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Located Directly Across The Street From The Havensight Mall And Cruise Ship Dock, it's only a 5 minute walk to the VIEW .

Can anyone recommend the nicest hotel beach near Havensight Mall? We'll have a stroller for our 1yo, but our 7yo probably can't be counted on to walk too far. My husband has travel industry privileges (where is spell check?) and someone mentioned that if he contacts a hotel ahead of time they will let us use the beach/restroom/restaurant facilities for the day. I'd appreciate any suggestions as I'm having a hard time finding a good map of the area.

Also, how can I add pictures to my posts, either in the body or to the left, under my name? Thanks!

Suzanne - I can't answer your ? except to say that if you go into your profile you can pick a picture from a list that this site provides. Beyond that I am no help. Sorry!

Hope you all have a good evening! Heading to bed! IT's been a long day!

Welcome LovinLife! We look forward to meeting you!:sunny:

Okay, I risked life and limb this morning to bring y'all a shot of the Wonder in drydock here in Norfolk (read: I took pictures everytime I hit the brakes while in bumper to bumper traffic across the channel from the Wonder) (funny: the guy in front of me had a bumper sticker that said "Get off the phone and drive!". If he only knew!

Anyway, two problems: first, my ##@@!!! batteries were dead, i only got one picture. second, I don't know how to upload/download it onto this post!:badpc: :rolleyes1

So you'll have to take my word for it. It was great, I found myself grinning ear to ear all the way to work after seeing the ship - I'm still smiling!

re: Pats/Bills - I thought Carolyn was just rubbing my face in it! LOL!

Ok Diser's this is a list of the people that have requested door signs be printed for them:

adisneymama
tinarn
grayfal--requested 4 signs but hasn't given any specifics so they haven't been created yet
HOP--requested 2 but can't remember name of the other one
disneydreamer
rocadonismom
mrsmg

hannosmom and cjsmom97 have had their signs emailed to them and are printing them themselves.

It's only 33 days til we leave for WDW. If you want your sign created and/or printed and are not listed above, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
send a PM to me or Susan and let us know. I don't want to be printing signs on Sunday morning before we leave. Suggested payment for said door signs is a 20oz bottle of Mt Dew, green preferred but red and purple work too. LOL::yes::

If you don't know how to send a PM then you can email either of us at: gunner40047@yahoo.com or gunnersgal2003@yahoo.com and put in the subject line "door signs"

Thank you and plesae do not stand up til the ride comes to a complete stop.

edited to add:
We have 2 door signs and we're not sure who they belong to. One is for the Foster family and one is for the Gaskin family. Would the unidentified please step forward. We are trying to get all these signs organized and we need your help.

PoohJen, making one more sign for your family would not be a problem and I wouldn't mind. I'm having lots of fun doing it.

John, My mom and sis is the 'Gaskins' (with an S) sign. So mine are all accounted for!! :sunny:

You sure you can drink this much Mt. Dew in one week?! :earseek:
