11/11/16 - Onboard time 9:30 PM - Question

The posted onboard time for this cruise is 9:30 pm for the departure on 11/11/16 out of San Juan. Do you think guests would still be able to board earlier in the day (Noon) or have to wait until dinnertime? What about the sail away party?

We sailed out of San Juan last fall on one of the Southern Caribbean cruises. Even though we left port around 10:30 pm, we were allowed to board around noon. Some people boarded the ship and then left for a few hours to tour around Old San Juan. They also had all the same activities as normal including the Muster Drill. If someone missed the normal Muster Drill they had a "make-up" one later in the day.

We were on one of those cruises. Our flight arrived on debarkation day at around 2:30 pm. We paid DCL for transportation to the port and got to the port right at the time they were having the drill. We had a make up drill in the theater that night and it lasted about 5 minutes after it started. Was awesome meeting in the theater and seated for the short drill. The one downside is that we didn't board earlier in the day. Normally we are on board by noon, so that was 5 hours we wouldn't get back. Also arriving late, it was later in the evening before we got our luggage.

But as previously stated the will board around 12 noon and have the normal activities.

Note if you are flight out of San Juan they will NOT allow you to check in and give them your luggage until 2 hours prior to the flight. And there is limited space to sit until you can check-in. Our flight was at 3:40pm so we had to hang in the main lobby of the airport until 1:40 with our luggage. So, if you are looking to fly out, book early and get a time around noon (my recommendation).
