11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

AFAIK, for a Serenity Bay cabana, 4 guests are included in the price quoted. You may, however, add additional guests for a fee of $50 per guest. Not quite sure what the maximum occupancy is, but I believe it was 10 guests.

On Family Beach, 6 guests are included in the cabana price, again with the option of adding more for $50 per guest.

Thanks Reto!!! I was not aware of the add-ons. Of course, still sounds ridiculously priced and then to tip on top of all that, JMO.

Yep, up to 10 guests now. We have 6 adults and 4 kids, most of whom will be flitting about the island. Big sis and I both have some mobility limitations and are not sun worshipers, so this will be great for us and also the little guy can nap there without his mom having to go back to the ship mid-day.

Any of my pals want to hunt us down at Cookies Too around lunch time...we'll be there.

Not to be the black cloud but has anyone seen the weather report with Hurricane Rina is moving through the Western Caribbean this weekend? I am saying my prayers for the safety of the people and that it does not do damage to the islands.
We were on our first Disney Cruise and could not go on their island do to damage but had to go and sit there and look at the island while they gave them supplies.
My brother in law is in Mexico and had to evacuate their hotel today. Ugg
Disney Cruise Line website has an advisory up I guess I will have to watch it and hope for the best.
I'll add a little pixiedust and hope it works out for us!!!! pixiedust:

I heard there was a hurricane. I thought this was a bit late in the season.

I thought so too!! We have cruise 2 other times at this time and it was smooth sailing, one time in Jan and it was rough. So we thought this would be a good one. crossing our fingers.

It's challengeing. I'm not sure what to bring. We'll have our iPhones, but do I also want to bring the iPads or a laptop? The only reason for the laptop is to offload photos and videos to free up memory cards.
aloha,
you can download your pictures on your ipad. Just buy the hardware from apple. It's only $29.00.
I used it when we did the Alaska Cruise with DCL.
Since I am using the icloud once I have wifi connection it will transfer my picture from my ipad to my laptop at home.
I tried this when I was in Hawaii an it works.
As long as you have an Apple computer.

My concern would be that my iPad is only 32Gb so space concerns me. Have you offloaded videos onto your iPad?

:laundy: ONE WEEK :laundy:

from today I will have finished my last day at work and will be doing the final loads of laundry and fininshing the packing in preparation for leaving in the morning for our adventure. Woo Hoo :cool1: can't wait - here's hoping that this week goes fast and that we all have smooth sailing to the port!

I second that!

I was looking through the DCL food photo thread and salivating - over the desserts! I am a little concerned about being able to find appetizers and entrees because I am so NOT a foodie. Steak and potatoes is fine with me. I guess if I'm going to live dangerously food-wise, a cruise is the place to do it!

How exciting!

I have a full week of work.

Today I indulged myself and set my out of office message. It gave me great pleasure to write, "I will be at sea and will not have access to email or voicemail and so will be unable to respond until I am back in the office. "

Still, I only have 5 more days in the office. Next Friday I'll work from home.

One more day at the office and then two glorious weeks off.:woohoo:

One week from now we'll be dreaming on the Dream.:cloud9:

We'll take good care of the ship until you all get there.

My UPS box arrived today at the Disney Resort and that is one thing out of the way. It took only 2.5 days to get there as regular UPS ground transportation.

I called the hotel today, and they confirmed they had it at their business center, and it will just cost a fee of 10 dollars. That is 24 lbs I didn't have to carry through airports !

---

I find the IPAD a fun device for showing off pictures, but I would rather use my netbook for photo and video uploading, editing, and then again uploading to the Internet. In fact it seems a storage blessing to just display my photos from the Internet on the IPAD, and not to use up the valuable IPAD space, I just own a 16 GB model. I use Smugmug for photo storage, and the IPAD apps do not have a great way of uploading a folder of photos versus individual photos, directly to the Internet. A Netbook or Laptop is so much easier for my photography needs. Also my camera video is not native IPAD friendly, so if you don't do video in 720P 30 Frames per second, in the exact ways that APPLE allows, you will need to convert your videos via your computer or ITUNES to get them to play in native mode on the IPAD. The camera kit will just get them on the IPAD for storage, but they won't play there for me. Like Ian said, if you use a lot of HD video, your gonna fill up your IPAD quickly.

---

Looking forward to getting all the luggage to the resort, unpacking, getting the ordered groceries put away, and then requesting the UPS box to be delivered to our room. And then we can finally feel like the vacation part begins, and the getting there part is finally over, until the week later packing up again for the cruise.

---

Also looking forward to the Fish Extender Exchange, with Jay and I delivering them to each stateroom's Fish Extender. All I have left to do is assemble the gift baggies in Florida.

Tammy, when can we deliver them, is there a schedule or rotation typically?

---

Can't wait to be floating in Storm Along Bay on Monday hopefully !

Phil and Jay

Save travels to all of you heading out 'early'! Angela, keep a lookout for Handsome Daniel

Still a full work week for me next week and I'm betting that Friday I will be a little distracted. Plus, we'll probably be celebrating my birthday that day, so even more reason to slack off! :)

Tomorrow is month-end, so a little more hectic at work, but I think I'll survive knowing Saturday will be girl/pamper day; pedicure, hair cut and color and might even buy a new lipstick!

Got a little more 'crafting' to do this weekend. Remaining door signs have been laminated and will need magnets applied and I'm going to make a couple of more gift bags 'just in case'. And I think I'll squeeze in a nap or two!

I'll be happy to keep a lookout for Handsome Daniel, I went back a few pages to make sure I knew who to look for.:rotfl:

Now I know who to ask for next time.

Instead of being on here I should be finishing up some work I brought home. DISing is always more fun. :surfweb:

Yesterday I started to force the planning for our next sprint of activity. My team wouldn't normally plan the development activity until next Friday, and with me working from home, that isn't practical, so they have to plan the development that will happen while I'm gone.

It makes me happy because it means that I'm closer to vacation.
