11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

Had a 2/3 good day getting started on healthy eating. Because there are no groceries in the house, reverted to not so good choice for dinner on the way home...BUT...I didn't overeat. And I did consume fruit AND vegetables today.

I'm taking the day off tomorrow since I have a Dr appointment in the afternoon that would have made me loose a 1/2 day at work anyway. So I'll jump up and go do the grocery shopping before it gets hot. We're definately in the 100's now for the next four months! :scared1:

As soon as I know if/when my brother might be visiting I'll be taking a look at my remaining vacation days. I think a 'staycation' at home is a good idea, I need to get some stuff done around here and I'm just not getting much done on the weekend, especially as I need a whole day just to recover from work!

.

Now that we have a pre-cruise weight-loss group going, I'd like to know what people are doing to lose weight?
I am doing a lot of walking and eating smaller portions.:scared1:

Increased water intake, walking and stopped eating after dinner, even if it means going to bed earlier to get away from the kitchen :rolleyes1

Actually, being sure you get enough sleep does promote weight loss!

I'm going to focus on healthier foods and portion control. Preparing home cooked meals and avoiding anything that comes out of a box! :lmao:And arm myself for the war on sugar.

Got my airfare booked today and bought trip insurance! :woohoo: Pay off DCL on July 8th so I can go in and book Palo. Then just have some shuttle stuff to arrange.

.

Been there. Done that.

Mr. Smarty-Pants!

Feel free (with your professional knowledge as a WW leader) to share any words of encouragement to our little band of 'loosers'. So, yes, go ahead and weigh in! :lmao:

Welcome Aboard! The good news is I do very little planning for a cruise in comparison to a WDW trip. If this is your first cruise you won't be able to make excursion, spa, Remy & Palo reservations until 75 days prior to your cruise. You have plenty of time to research and see what you'd like to do.

Are you flying in? Do you need to arrange transportation to/from the port?

we're flying in, but a few days before because we have a medical conference to attend in Orlando over the weekend (we're patients, not doctors of the conference)... anyway, we'll take a town car/taxi I guess from Orlando Sunday morning to the port... 45 minutes or so, right? Then flying home, I didn't want to chance not catching the flight out of orlando at 11am, so we'll take the next days flight (only 1 per day goes to our little airport at home). So we'll relax getting off I guess that last morning, and take another taxi back to Orlando that day. I'm thinking we might stay in the Hilton in MCO that night... the kids have always thought that would be cool to do. Then we're there for our 11am flight the next morning... really painless and relaxing, as opposed to trying to make an 11am flight the morning of departure.

Now I want to think about reserving the Atlantis... that's been on our list of places to go, and now we'll be hitting it twice since we're doing back-to-back. Pretty much everyone does comfort inn, correct? hope they're not booked up already. Anything I need to know/reserve for cast away cay?

thanks everyone!!!!!!!!! I don't know how I'm going to keep this a secret from my kids... I'm BURSTING right now!!!!!

We're trying Atlantis for the first time on this cruise through Comfort Suites, it was so much cheaper for the four of us than through DCL. I think I remember another family was going this route too so they'll be a few of us. I made my reservation on-line through their website.

We haven't told our kids yet either, and most likely won't until September or October.

Only down 1lb from last week, but will take it and work harder this week. How are the rest of you doing??

:cheer2: WELCOME! :cheer2:

I'll add your name to the rouster on page one.

One of the things I recommend for DCL cruise 'newbies' is to check out some of the trip reports. You'll get different people's perspective and usually lots of photos and input on the ship and dining and activities.

You'll want to check out a town car service for your ride to the port, as a taxi fare can go through the roof if there are any traffic delays. Some of the most frequently recommend services are: Tiffiney Towncare, Southern Elegance, Happy Limo and I'm checking on a new one, Spaceport Transport (or something like that, have to look at my notes). Also been heard good stuff about the one Ian (iankh) is using, VIP something. (Obviously I need my note....mind like a steel trap..NOT)

I'm down two pounds for this first week. I think only having two desserts this week instead of SEVEN helped make THAT happen! :lmao:Still have to get in some wholesome supplies this weekend to really get into the swing of things.

STATEROOM TOUR:

We need a volunteer to take over organizing the stateroom tour since Deb (EllaEnchanted) had to cancel this cruise. Also would be nice to see some other catagories represented on the list!

so even though check-in is at 3pm or something, you can check-in in the morning and get the wristband (or whatever) for Atlantis then? I'm sure the answer is yes, as I read so many people use this option, just want to be sure.

thank you so much for the info!! I just booked the 2 days I'll need at comfort suites (since we're doing back-to-back). I can't believe we get to go to the Atlantis 2x's, and Castaway Cay 2x's!! I'm so excited about this. I'd much rather these stops than the same old Caribbean ports we've been to in the past (on other lines).

so can anyone tell me about Castaway Cay? I know NOTHING about it. I saw a pic of someone on a waterslide there and thought "there's a waterslide????" I'll also go read some trip reports! I always love doing that!
