11/06/04 Western New and Improved Official Thread!

I was looking through my doc before and I only got one Embarkation form, not one for everyone in my party. It states that I need one for each member, but I only got one, in the leade person's packet. Is this what everyone else got, or do I have to call my TA tomorrow?

I got all of ours over the course of 3 days. First, my dh and ds's arrived.....then 2 days later came mine and two dd's. So this might be how it will be with you. Keep us posted.
Too bad about GC......oh well............

Greetings to Everyone:wave2:

I will be cruising with you on 11/6. This is my first cruise and of course I am super excited about it! It is nice to be able to jump on the boards and read about lots of others who are excited too. Especially since I am traveling solo and therefore don't have my co-travelers to get excited with. I am arriving in Orlando early on Friday and will likely go to Wet and Wild with my sister and niece on Friday if the weather is warm enough. (My sisters family lives just south of Port Canaveral).
I am curious about the GC vs. Costa Maya debate. I would like to know which I am looking forward to but I know I will be happy either way.
I saw my first t.v. commercial for the INCREDIBLES yesterday. Hopefully that will be playing on the ship!:sunny:

Welcome to the DIS Sue
Hope to see you also at the meet on board Saturday. What dinner seating do u have ? Any excursions planned ? We're also hoping that we might luck out and get to see the Incredibles on the ship :D

Welcome to nymets and Sue88, hope to see you at the DISmeet. 3:00 on embarkation day at Scoops (Promenade Lounge in case of rain).

Lori,

Our docs only had one embarkation form also. After reading it and filling it out it appears that only one per stateroom is needed i.e. question #1 Is anyone in your party PG? The form is asking about your traveling party. I did notice that on the inside cover of the box the docs came in under helpful hints it says that embarkation form, including emergency contact (1 per guest). Maybe they changed policies?

TTFN,

Jackie

Our Plan in Key West is to stop in Margaritaville also! We love the one in Orlando! And I love the atmosphere and of course the Margarita's!!!! Except we will not be kids free, so we will have to make a "quick" stop!!!

We're getting close! Was just checking over our shore excursions confirmation and documents and noticed a discrepancy with the time the ship leaves Key West. Shore excursion confirmation says 10:00 pm the document states 7:30 pm. When I called, they said the ship is leaving at 7:30pm. So what about that Star Gazer shore excursion. We didn't sign up for it, but it might cause a problem to others.

Our cruise docs have finally arrived at the travel agent. She said she would mail them to us but I am not taking any chances and am picking them up today. See you all soon.

thumpery,

Good observation! Would we be leaving Key West earlier than normal because we are going to Costa Maya instead of Grand Cayman? Costa Maya is further from Key West than GC! Just a thought.

Good point, Scottygirl. I initially thought that maybe they were docking us directly next to Mallory Square and we had to be out of port by sunset (that happened to me on a 1989 cruise), but the US Naval Observatory says that sunset is 5:43 for that day. The port's calendar lists the Magic in port from 11:30 - 22:15 that night... so it will be interesting to see what happens.

We had thought about doing a sunset cruise, but if we do that, we won't have much time in Key West at all. I know a lot of people don't like it, but we spent our honeymoon there, so it has some sentimental value to DH and me.

got my docs yesterday Does anyone know what excursions that they have for costa maya Thanks for any info :bounce: :earsboy: :bounce: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Well, it is official. I just called DCL and we're officially going to Costa Maya instead of Grand Cayman. There is a post on the regular DCL board also confirming this. All Costa Maya excursions will not be available for pre-booking, they must be booked on-board.

:jumping1: Just got my Docs!! It now seems real!

Quick question from first timer, is it OK for small children to wear dress shorts and nice tropical print shirt at casual dinners?

Well I have to say I am disappointed. I just told DH that after this trip I am not going to Mexico again! Costa Maya will be the 4th place in Mexico I have been. Okay, now that I have expressed my disappointment I will remain positive from here on, afterall we are going on a cruise!!

What time is the Shore Excursions desk open onboard? Since we don't have to do the ressie rush (REAS) can we book as soon as we board?

TTFN,

Jackie

makaira,

Getting the docs does make it seem more real!! I see no problem with little ones wearing shorts. Of course I was born in a country where all little boys wear "short pants" and knee socks when they dress up!! Some people get worked up about the dress code so you might get different opinions!!

makaira - as a mother of a 3YO, I don't see a problem, but as a previous DCL cruise I do. I only say that because the dining rooms are FREEZING!! I did put pants and long sleeved shirts on my then 4 YO and 18 month old, and they still were cold! I'd keep that in mind when deciding what to pack.

scottygirl - I'm guessing that we'll have to go to the Shore Excursion desk not Guest Services, they are two separate places. They are on opposite sides of Deck 3, one starboard, the other port, but I can't remember which is which!!! So, if Shore Excursions is open when we board, I don't think it would be a problem booking!!! Thinking about it, I think Guest Services is on the Port side, with Shore excursions being on the Starboard side, but don't hold me to it!!
