11/05/05 Western - Who's with Us?

I just noticed that DCL has assigned my room number! #2550 - Any comments or info?
Barb, I found alot of info. and saw your pictures at castawayclub, how exciting that you are on this cruise too! Are you a travel agent also?

Lauri,
:sunny: I think that in all fairness Disney only opens up a certain % percentage of ressies at each interval (105 days, 90, 75 and again @ embarkation). Keep the faith-they are in business to make our day! ;)

Barb and Tony,
Welcome aboard! Did you get you're usual cabin? And Barb, what's with the "Blacklight Barb" name? Is there something else you would like to share with your shipmates? pirate: :3dglasses :smooth:

Barb is a travel agent and she actually booked our reservations! Cool, we will have a cruise expert on our cruise.
Less than 3 months to go!

Thanks for your words of encouragement, Dizma. I feel better, and we'll be making our final payment in order to book.

By the way, I feel like we have a celebrity going on our cruise, now that Barb is joining us :rotfl: .

I thought that too! Welcome aboard.

I called Captain Marvin's this morning and booked the 3 hr. excursion with the Sabo group.

Only 87 days and counting!!!

Yep, you can look for us in the butt end of the ship, in good old 5650. Tony and I are trying to figure out which excursions to do. I love the Western itinerary, and there is sooooo much to do at the ports. We may try Mr. Sanchos this time in Cozumel, since we've seen Xcaret on an RCCL cruise and have done Chanakaab, the horseback riding, and the jeep tour on DCL. In Grand Cayman, we've snorkeling with the stingrays and have gone to 7 Mile Beach, so I'm not sure what we'll opt for this time around. In Key West, we've walked the streets and done all the touristy stuff, like the train and trolley, photo at the marker post, Hemingway house, etc. I like just strolling around there and soaking up the ambience.

Oh, yeah! I can't wait!!!!

I'm still hoping my 15DS will find someone to hang with, we tried
a teen thread for our trip but only one response and that was
months ago.
Everyone else here has younger kids, correct?

We're still going to have a wonderful time. And it will be fun
to be together with other DIS'ers for the Stingray excursion.

Yippee!

I thought I'd bump up our thread since our cruise date is coming up soon. Well, my kids start school next week. Now I'll have time to design a door sign since I won't have to fight them for the computer any more. I'm on the fence about ordering a gift basket from Shirley. We did it on our first cruise and the kids loved it. But, I already have our beach toys from the $1 store and they always get surprises in the carryon backpacks. Other than some candy, I can't really think of anything to have her put in it. We're also going to WDW for 3 nights before the cruise and I put aside $20 Disney Dollars for each of them to get a souviner. If anyone has any ideas for 7 year olds, let me know. I still need to talk to DH about our excursions. I booked our Palo ressies and got the Rasul for us  , now we need to plan for the rest of the vacation. Hope everyone elses summer went well and before we know it we'll be dipping our toes at CC.

I made my reservations this morning! I thought there was an Ocean View Explorer Tour in Cozumel that I wanted to take but it is not listed on the reservations list. Is this something I can (or have to) book on the ship?

Tay N Evie's Mom:
I am trying to get a gift bag together for my 2-yr old son also. I have been getting the $1 items and will gradually give him a bit each day!

Hi,

I am new to the "disboard", so I hope I am doing this right! We will be cruising on the Magic for the 1rst time on Nov 5th - the Western Caribbean! My husband and I have a daughter 13, a daughter 11, and a son 9. I noticed that you must have a soccer player in the family - my son is a soccer nut, and I have coached him for the past few years. All my kids also swim on a team, year-round. We live in Upstate NY - fairly close to Rochester. It looks like you are from Central PA. I grew up in Maryland. We are incredibly pysched about this cruise. Do you have any pointers since this is your second one? Has anyone done the "Snorkeling at the Shipwreck" in the Grand Caymans? My nine year old son is afraid of the stingrays, so we won't be trying that one. How about the teen excursion for Castaway Cay? I'm thinking of signing up my daugter for that one. Thanks for any tips and advice that you all might have! :thewave:

Claire :earsgirl:

I woke up early today to get Palo ressies. Only dinner was left, but every night. I hope we can brunch ressies when we get on board. Only 75 days to go!

Laurie,

How do you make the reservations on-line? Can you also pre-register the kids for the shipboard programs? Claire

Claire,

To register online, go to disneycruise.com, and click on my disney cruise at the top. You'll have to register for the site, if you havent already. Log on, then enter your confirmation number and birthdate. If you're paid in full, you can register for spa, Palo, excursions, and kids clubs.

I have two kids that will be with yours, but the opposite sexes: DS 11 and DD 8.5.

Lauri

Thanks Lauri - I will attempt to register soon. I wanted the brunch, too, and had no idea it would be so popular. My husband is a big breakfast lover, and the description of the brunch sounded fabulous. Maybe we will be lucky and be able to book on board. Our kids may be opposites, but at least they will be the same age. Where are you staying on the ship? We have 2 inside cabins on the 7th deck. Have you cruised with Disney before? Claire

Hi Everyone!

I made Palo reservations last night - only Thursday night was unavailable. I also registered the kids (daughters 10 & 8 and son 5) for Oceaneer Club/Lab. :cool1:

Only 74 days to go now!!!

   We had to cancel our cruise...

We are sooooo sad about it....

DH's brother has decided to get married and we have to attend.... :guilty:

Wish you guys all the best...Re-book onboard for next year please as we ARE going November 4th next year for sure...If you guys re-book, we can meet next year....

Have a great time.

That is so sad.
We're sorry for you. I know how bad I'd feel if I had to cancel mine.
Maybe we'll meet up with you on another cruise.
Rose

Hi, this will be our 2nd Disney Cruise, I will be traveling with my DH, DS11, and DS7. We are also traveling with a bunch of other friends. We are planning on renting an electric car in Key West and just seeing the sights on our own. In the Caymans we are booking a car and doing something called the east end tour which I read about on this forum. In Cozumel we are booked thru Disney on their dolphin encounter excursion. And at last CC we will just relax and enjoy our last day of a terrific cruise!!!!! If anyone has had any experiences about any of our plans on each island, please let me know and if there is a must do that I don't know or have heard about. Thanks for any additional advice or suggestion.

 We booked an excursion in Grand Cayman (we're going to try the shipwreck and reef snorkel) and DD 13 is going to try the Castaway Cay excursion for teens, and we are booked for Palo on Sunday. Hope that there is a good sunset to watch in Key West! - I am amazed at how quickly those Palo reservations fill up! I would have loved a brunch :guilty: My DD 11 and DS 9 are both signed up for the kid clubs, too. I'm excited about finalizing things, though!
