11/05/05 Western - Who's with Us?

:sunny: Welcome Jen and Kevin!
:cool1: :cool1:Sweetspot- Thanks for all the info on the Ron Jon Resort. We had considered staying there, but had heard some mixed reviews. Do they offer the shuttle service? What kind of rates do they have? I had heard that they used to offer some discounts. The lazy river sounds like fun. I'll have to look into the options. Looking forward to November! -Dizma

Anyone going to WDW before the cruise? We will be there for 10/30-11/5 at the YC. We got our MNSSHP tickets for 10/30 so we can still trick or treat on 10/31. :cool1:

Dizma: We don't have great rates and the only discount you can get now is AAA but we think it's worth the extra money. We also heard mixed reviews before we went in Nov. but found it to be the opposite of what we heard. We drive from NJ so we have our car and park at the port so I'm not sure about shuttle service but I know that they have some arrangement with a shuttle service from reading on the boards. We are really looking forward to staying there again this year. It was such a relaxing way to start our vacation.

Scouter, perhaps our two teens can e-mail/im each other prior to cruise. We have to keep him off his laptop during the cruise-that's not what the cruise is for:-) I think the cruise will be much for fun for teens if they can hook up with others-it's just that initial hesittation on their part that may prevent them from having fun. And you can hang out with DH and me!!!! I'm really hoping our dd age 3 likes the Oceaneer Club.

Thanks for the info Sweetspot. I'm also a Jersey girl. We did that drive 2 years ago, don't care to do it again. Anyway I will consider you rave reviews of RJ it sounds like fun. Goof######- We will have to consider a group meeting as the date gets closer after many have firmed up plans. And welcome to the Travelingmice. Love that name!

Dizma:

Group meeting sounds great!! Still trying to figure out travel plans to the port. Airfare from chicago stinks!! Having dificulties trying to find direct service to MCO. All of the flights we are finding Sat morning are either getting in too late or we need to connect through 1 or 2 cities. We might have to find a place fri night to stay. close to the airport. If we can't hook up before hand maybe we can meet at the port or on board at the sail away party. I know last time everyone had the famous lime green thing hapening. Maybe we can do the same or find something else. Keep me posted!!

Paul

I feel your pain that airfare from Chicago stinks! I was bummed that Southwest only released dates to Oct 28th, but the "powers that be" came through for me yesterday. I have enough UAL FF miles for 3 flights and would only need to buy 1 flight. I have been checking with the UAL website since 300 days out without any luck. I called UAL 2 weeks ago and the only option to use the FF miles would have cost us $1123 for the 1 flight (were they serious :rotfl: ). I tried again yesterday on a whim and got the 3 free flights and only paid $261 for the 4th flight. We have a direct flight from ORD and have to connect through Washington on the way back. Our flight home leaves at 2:20pm, which isn't too bad. I checked the cost of the flight again today and it went up $100, so I called back and took everything off the courtesy hold and booked it. I budgeted $800 for air and in the end will only pay about $330 including the taxes and booking fees for using the FF miles. I'm surprising my family with 3 nights at the POFQ before the cruise with 2 day tix to WDW and we're going to give ME and the dining plan a try. I have the REAS booked, but I'm thinking about cancelling it. I don't like the ressie scramble, so that was the main reason I booked it. Since I'm a CC member I can book 90 days out with the new online service. Goof, I see your from the 'burbs too. We live in Channahon, moved there from Joliet a year ago.

Tay:
Glad you got you're airfare booked. Wish us luck. hopefully something will pop in our favor. We live in Streamwood. Near Schaumburg.

Paul

Turtlegirl, I think that is a great idea. My DS loves to IM. It would be easier for
them to chat first before meeting up, then they won't feel so alone when they go
to the teen clubs/activities. Shall they start a new thread for Nov 5, 05 Western
Teens? Maybe more teens would like to connect up beforehand?

We're coming in Saturday morning, not Friday. I can't wait! And this is so exciting :cheer2: meeting people before we even travel. It makes the waiting so much fun!

The stingray excursion: I think it sounds cool, I'd love to try that.

Oh, there's so much I want to do, is one week enough??????

***Oh, there's so much I want to do, is one week enough??????***

Nope, sorry but it's not :rotfl: This will be our 3rd Cruise, and I'm convinced that there will still be things I'll be hoping to finally get to do on our 4th

This time, I'm trying to get a massage in the cabanas on Castaway Cay, and I'd love to have Brunch at Palo on Sunday. It will be my and DH's 12th wedding anniversary that day, and I can't think of a better way to start the day then having Brunch at Palo while watching the ship pull up to Key West ... now, to convince the man in my life ... :rotfl2:

I could'nt agree more. This our 4th Disney cruise & there is so much to do & no matter what happens we still can't get it all done!!! I agree Pulling up to Key West is the Best!!!. It is our favorite stop on the whole trip!!

Paul

What makes Key West your favorite stop of the Western trip?
What are the most fun things to do there?

The sunset is the most beautiful you will ever see. There is really a lot of unique places to shop & neat restaurants. The whole city just has great personality. Its just a great city.

:rotfl: Woo Hoo! I just saw the teen thread for 11/05/05 Western Cruise!
Turtlegirl is that your daughter who started it? My son is going to go on and
post with her.
This is a great forum. A terrific way for anyone to meet up with new
friends to hang out with on the cruise. My son will get more excited about this now.
Hey anyone else on this thread have teens that will be going also?
Have them log on too!
I can't wait to go!!!!!! :earsgirl:

Ok, I'm the thread killer

C'mon less than 5 months to go.....isn't anyone else out there? :magnify:

Hello Everyone on the 11/5 cruise!!

5 months is way too long to wait. DW & I want to go now!! We have been planning out as much as we can. Now we need to wait for 90 days to hit so we can make Palos reservations & the excursions.

Paul

Although the trip is too far away and I wish I was going now
sometimes it seems it is coming up too quickly and I don't have
nearly as much money as I want to have saved up!
Plus I've already been shopping for new clothes I want to wear
on the cruise, I'm sure the men don't care about this right?
I know my DS(almost 15) could care less about what he'll wear.

Hey, on our formal night do the teen boys really wear tuxes
or what?

Our last cruise with friends, We're the two on the right.

DW & I are doing the same thing. Trying to save every dollar we can, but at the same time trying to buy the things that we need, (including clothes), yes even for a guy I need to buy new clothes too. Fourtunately I had a problem this year. I lost over 40 lbs & none of my suits or dress clothes fit. I already had to buy new shorts this summer so that part is set. We are also big electronics geeks, so we are trying to update our camera gear, memory, camcorder supplies & stuff like that. So its a tough battle between saving & buying, but so far we are right on schedule with everything. I STILL WANT TO GO NOW!!!!!

Wow!!!! 40 lbs! Wonderful! Congratulations! :cheer2:

I've gained about 15. And it seems so hard to lose.

I still want to go now too!
Actually I'm getting eager to hear if they will have that Meditarranian
Cruise in 2007, because I'd book! Especially if we can do it while we're on
our November cruise.
