11/05/05 Western - Who's with Us?

Wow, it's been a busy day on this thread! I just logged on and checked my email, and there was a notice about the port change from DU. I'm so glad we finally know what we will be doing. Does anyone know what hours we will be in Costa Maya? Time to start planning some excursions.

Nala11--onDisney's website, it states that shore excursions will be available for booking after boarding. I guess they're still doing some last minute scrambling too.

I'm glad we now know what we are doing. I'm such a planner and not knowing drives me crazy... :confused3
I've looked at some sites on Costa Maya and it looks gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to it..
Can't believe we leave next week. We are driving down from NJ and are leaving a week from tomorrow.. :cool1:
See you all soon... :wave2:

:rotfl2:

As usual, you guys were right about Costa Maya! Now I have to research there! It feels good to have the uncertainty over with...

:cool1: Well, my husband is happy to be staying on the "Western" route. I am happy to be "settled". I had looked into the Doubloon sail and snorkel on the Eastern route, and was planning to book it if we changed. I now just need to start packing and getting ready to go. We are driving, and we leave next Thursday from Upstate NY to start our trip. I got an official e-mail from All Seasons travel yesterday giving us the new itinerary. I am still waiting to receive my docs, but they were mailed on Monday, according to All Seasons. I can't wait to actually start the trip :moped: Claire

Thank goodness things have calmed down for us habitual planners :grouphug: and we know where we are going. :rotfl: Maybe the 1st drink of the day will be called a "Wilma". :cool1:
Wishing everyone a safe trip down! :moped: :moped:

Suzanne,

You will be glad to know that people over on the cruise critic board say that the ruins in Costa Maya are much better than in Cozumel...they also recommend a tour operated by david & ivan-check out cruisecritic.com boards then ports then costa maya

Turtlegirl - I tried the link but I couldn't get it to work. Could you try again.

I have to admit I am finally getting very excited. :Pinkbounc

Hi, Suzanne

Try going to cruisecritic.com then boards then ports then Costa Maya.

Also there is puertocostamaya.com

And this will really interest you chacchobenruins.com

Does anyone have any idea what time we will be in Costa Maya? I contacted Dave and Ivan about the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins tour, but they need to know what time our ship gets into port. They said they would schedule a tour for 1 hour after our arrival. DS is so excited about this tour. It is exactly what he is studying in social studies now.

By the way, we're now at the 10 day mark!!!!

This is a silly question I'm sure, but who is Dave that you are talking about? We are very interested about doing the ruins tour also. Are they a tour company other then disney? Do you happen to know the cost for the tour?
Thanks for any info you can give. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I just called and we are in Costa Maya from 10:30 am to 10:15 pm according to the person at DCL.

If someone sets up a tour group with Dave & Ivan I think I would want to do this. Not sure if I would take DS6 along - never know what will turn him on. I guess the best course of action would be to ask him and show him the pictures on the website. :teeth:

:Pinkbounc We are leaving this Sat for WDW!!! Can't believe it's here already!

Ok, now I'm freaking out!!!
Only about a week away and I haven't packed anything.
Don't even really have a list together yet.
Between working full time, single ADHD parent with ADHD teen that I have
to constanly check to see if he's forgotten homework, volunteer job schedule,
pet issues between 3 cats and a ferret, furnace breaking down, my Mary
Kay business that I haven't done anything with in weeks, and the coolest
thing.....that's really been keeping my mind useless: a major crush (my first
interest again in dating in 5 years) on a wonderful guy who I work with who
I hired to help me build bookcases in my home (ok, too sly?)....
Anyhow, I'm a nervous wreck!!!!!

I am just now starting to make up our name tags.
Oh, my list is too long......
I need a vacation before my vacation to get ready.....
and then another vacation when I get home to recover and go into
post vacation traumatic disorder :rotfl2:

Help! I need those drinks of the day now!

Can you tell that I should be the postergirl for Adderall XR alongside the new
posterboy: Ty Pennington?

Oh,.....you'll have fun with me on this cruise :teeth:
OR......you'll find out where I am and run the other way :rotfl2:

I want to do the Mayan Ruins with Dave and Ivan on Costa Maya
too!
Does anyone have all the details on how we book that?

Ok, one more post and then I'll really get started with our nametags.

Suzanne, I looked on the "who's going" site and found a few more people:

Fluvanna- could find no postings, info about

jg&emom- I sent a message to join us

DanaAlexMik- I sent a message to join us

biggeff- could find no postings, info about

PirateWife- I sent a message to join us

Fran- I sent a message to join us

We'll see if we get any responses from them, so that we might add them to
our list of buddies to meet and so that I can make some tags for them also.

There is alot of info on them on cruisecritic.com. I did email them about the Magic coming in. However I feel the responsibility to say something of what I read on cruisecritic. Please look for yourself in case I got it wrong, but I believe David and Ivan are having problems with the taxi union there who are doing things to sabotage their tours (blocking their van). This has happened very recently. The taxi drivers do not want them to be in on the action of transporting people to the ruins, they say they should just give tours at the ruins. Apparently the local police can not be counted on to defend their rights. So this is what I believe I read on cruisecritic.

I asked them in the email if they have resolved the situation with the taxi drivers and have not heard back yet. They are supposed to by all accounts be wonderful guides, and I really want to take a tour with them, but there is this concern and I felt I should share this with you all.

I hope someone finds out something to allay my worries about taking the tour with them!

Scouter - Good sluthing for those friends we haven't met yet. I hope they stop by to say hello. :wave2:

Michlynb - I definitely want to do the Mayan Ruins but I'm a nervous nelly about booking excursions outside of Disney.

Is anyone else making a door sign? Should we do this?
