11/04/06 Anyone Out There Yet?

Anyone have any more info regarding Pirate's Night? I emailed DCL a few days ago, but haven't received a response.

The last Western cruise (not the one right now) Pirate Night was Tuesday night. This was earlier in our thread, but you can review all the navigators for that whole cruise. Not always the same, but generally the same.....

Ok, I think I already asked this, but never got a response. :confused3 But...does anyone know if the times for the ports are local or ship time? It says we will be in Cozumel from 9:30am-9:30pm in my booklet. Is that the local time, after we change our clocks the previous night, or the ship time? This makes a big difference for my plans! 9:30am ship time is 8:30am local time, which is ok, but if it's 9:30am local time, and I have to be somewhere at 10am, then maybe not so good! :confused3

disneylover5....That's what my hubby said!! :thumbsup2
I was spoiled from last year's cruise. Not a cloud in the sky the entire trip!

Your time will be the local time. The passengers change their times to adjust to local time. On the ship we will move our clocks back an hour on Sunday after Key West and I believe and we have to move the clock forward one hour after Cozumel.

Per the documents sent in July after final payment:

Key West: 12:30 - 7:30

Grand Cayman: 7:30 - 4:00

Cozumel: 10:00 - 10:30

Castaway Cay: 9:00 - 4:30

Thanks! The times that I received with my docs just last week are:

Key West 12:30pm - 7:30pm

Grand Cayman 7:30am - 4:30pm

Cozumel 9:30am - 9:30pm

Castaway Cay 9:00am - 4:30pm

So, we should assume that these are all local times because we change the ship time to local time each day. I do remember changing the times on the ship last year. This same cruise last year, I believe 3 groups (?) were left behind in Key West. The times are a bit confusing and we had also had more time changes before boarding due to the hurricanes last year.

This is our 2nd DCL cruise. When I received my docs, they came in a sleeve, and I received 2 booklets (we have 5 people) with the picture of the ship on it and various pages inside - itinerary w/times, gratuity suggestions, payment authorization, etc.... We received the same thing last year - just different theme and in a nicer plastic sleeve.

Now, my parents, who are 1st timers, only received "some" of the previously mentioned pages, just stapled together. No booklet with the picture of the ship, etc... We both booked thru Costco, so it came from the same place. She was told that this was because she had pre-registered online. The funny thing is, she didn't get the gratuity info either (as a page). I also registered online, but I did mine quite a bit later than she did.

Does anyone else think this is strange? Personally, I like to save the booklet as a souvenier. I still have the ones from last year and I plan to save this one, too. I don't see why they wouldn't send them out to everyone. Has anyone else had this experience?

Not strange at all....we have a group of 20 going and the folks who filled already out the online documents only received the partial document booklet pack in the mail. The ones who did not fill out any online forms got the complete booklet in their documents. I believe DCL is trying to cut down on paperwork so if you filled out the info online you really only need to bring the printed forms from the website. You probably filled out your online forms after DCL already started the printing process of the entire booklet...there must be a cut-off date internally at DCL where they will send the entire booklet if they don't have record of you filling out the online forms by a certain date.

Getting close now....I think the ship is pretty full for our sailing!!!

I purposely didn't fill out any online documents before I received my documents and I still got the shortened version. Doesn't seem as if there's any real rhyme or reason to it. Kinda of like who gets Castaway Club info and CDS and who doesn't.

A week from right now I will be going to pick the kids up from school and go to the airport.

I really do need to start packing. That is the goal for over the weekend.

Oh well...there went my brilliant deductions!!!! You are right...no rhyme or reason!!!

A week from now I hope to be dining at Grill's and watching the RCCL ship sail down the channel!!!

Happy packing everyone!!!

A week from now we will be swimming in the pool at RonJons. I've always been tempted to try Grill's but it's so nice eating outside around the pool as the kids swim. I can't believe how fast it's coming. I've been all packed and ready to go. I want to leave now!

I'll be traveling with my young son on this cruise, our first. I have a Palo's reservation for Friday night @ 7:30 if anyone would like to join me for a night out without the kids. PM me if interested.

Coming from Hillsboro also with DW DD17 DS12 (who is at HMS) we will have to meet and get our sons together.

See you in a week

JSfein - Thanks for the updated list.

To all-
My DS is 11 and will be 12 on 11/7 on board the ship. Since this is our third time sailing "Jersey week" our anticipation builds day by day.
Anyway, if there are any single travelers that would like to have dinner without the kids, I've booked Palo's for Monday at 8 PM. I met someone last year that arranged a Palo's night :cool1: and it was a fun way to meet others and take a break from the kids. Most of all the restaurant is awesome!

Not that I'm harping on the weather..but...on those days at sea does the captain steer towards sunny locations?

Yes, they do, if possible. They even say it over the intercom!!!

Thank you!! :thumbsup2

Hey everyone...don't forget to set your timers at home. I also forget until the last minute. You don't want your house to be dark while you're away!!!

....when do I put them on? Do I put them on at home before we leave? This doesn't make sense to me because we're headed to OKW for 2 nights first and then we're taking a limo to the port. I would rather put them on at OKW.

Which is the right thing to do???? I don't want to screw up anything at this point!

Thanks!
