11/01/03 Eastern Cruisers, I know you're out there!!!

I have a few questions for those who have sailed before. When do you sign up for the Art of Entertaining and those adult activities. Is it always the same time on every cruise. I noticed that it was mentioned at 10 on Sunday. What else is offered and how will we know the times before we cruise or before we set up spa times, Palo brunch, etc.

Also, what is chipping??????

What name tags are we using? Disney Paint chips?

A Disney meet anytime is fine for us. We have late dinner seating. THe idea to have two may be beneficial, so all those who have late seating can possibly meet from 5-6 on Saturday, and any of the early seating that can make it. Then do late morning Sunday or lunch too.

You don't sign up for the Art of Entertaining, you just go to the "classes" when they are offered. Check out some of the past Navigators on castawayclub.com or dcltribute.com. I know Dave has ones from VerandahMan's recent Eastern cruise. I think they usually have one in the morning and one in the afternoon on days at sea. The navigator series and behind the scenes was also good. It seems like they are scheduled pretty much the same time. You don't have to go to all of the "classes", just the ones you want. I went to cake decorating, food carving, making drinks. I missed quite a bit because of our brunch at Palos and leaving the ship on Wednesday. Chipping in what you do in golf when you are close to the green but not on it and need to get on it with a special club (a chipper - believe it or not). They set up a mat in the atrium and you chip ping pong balls with velcro to the mat for points.

Unfortunately unless you set up brunch during lunch, you may miss some of the activities offered. Take a look and see what's offered and when and you'll get a better idea.

I got my paint chips and am ready to travel. I'm getting nervous because I haven't gotten documents for my first cruise on 10/16 yet! :(

Hello everyone!!! Thanks Debbie for the spreadsheet. It looks great .:D

We are up for any meet time. I think wearing the lime green Mickey's in the terminal and around the ship on the first day is a great idea.

I loved the Art of Entertaining series and will definately be there too!

I am rolling with laughter here; I have been totally stressing out on trying to do more/it all this year. I look back at last year and although I thought I was prepared (thanks DIS boards) I didn't know half of what I know now and missed a ton of things. I must do the Art of Entertaining things this year. I want to do wine tasting, I can't miss brunch at Palo's and the seafood buffet on one of the lunch days. Last year I thought there was too much to do; this year I'm overwhelmed!

I'll look for lime Mickeys this weekend. We ended up meeting 2 other DIS Board folks while in line at the terminal and my DS knew "Andrew" going into the clubs; it was great. Luckily this time I know Savsawmom and Debralisa beforehand and our kids have all met - if you see three 30-ish moms with a ton of kids; it's got to be us!

SweetSpot-

We are only spending one night at Universal and when I booked, we were told that you could not book the Hard Rock for only 1 night. Yes the Royal Pacific looks very nice but they will probably regret having my son there (lol)
Anyway, I would have rather stayed at the Hard Rock

We plan on skipping breakfast and having a car waiting for us at the terminal for 8:30AM. The hotel guaranteed me that they would keep our luggage for us and give us the "key" or something like that which shows that you are staying at one of the three hotels on site and you get to go in the front of the lines.

We are getting the 2day pass because we purposely booked our return flight at 8:30PM so we could have 2 full days at Universal.

It's gonna be a long trip but I'm sure definitely worth it.

lruggiero:

If you would rather stay at the Hard Rock you should call and see if you can change hotels. I called twice, within one hour, the first time there were no Hard Rock rooms, then they appeared. Rooms were appearing and disappearing from the reservationists screen really fast. After reading more I am glad we are at the Hard Rock because it appear that it is within close walking distance to Universal. I've also found that you can prebuy your tickets at AAA at a discounted rate. We also received a decent discount on our hotel room by using the AAA rate. The DIS Universal boards have been very helpful in finding discounts. I just signed up for a Loew's First card which provides for special treatment and is free.

I don't know how I ever travelled without the DIS boards help.

Do you mind if I ask what you paid for your room? I think I paid $199 but I will have to look.

lruggiero:

We had to get a kids suite (two hotel rooms, one exit door) because they couldn't guarantee adjoining rooms and I didn't want to take the chance. The price without AAA was $450.00 and with AAA $367.00 I think the Hard Rock is comparable or even less than the Royal Pacific.

Has anyone used the computers offered on the ship? Is there a line for them usually? The book says it costs $90 for a weeks worth of use.

Keith, I did use the computer to check e-mails about 3-4 times during the cruise (we were moving 500 miles two days after we got back and my MIL was ill at the time so I needed to check in with my parents as to any issues). The first day they had a 5 minutes for free (or something like that) special, so I quickly logged in and linked to my yahoo account. After that, I paid the $.75/minute and I think my total bill was about $8-9. They do offer the weekly rate of $89/week for unlimited use. You can also win packages or minutes at Bingo - NJFamily won a week's use while we were playing Bingo together.

And, for everyone else, I'm going to update the spreadsheet tomorrow - I have 2 additional folks who wanted their info included. If there is anyone else, please email me at cotchdc_99@yahoo.com.
