Hello! DH and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary 10/29..(Hence my username!) We may be going on a cruise with some friends, but as his ROTC detachment may be having an inspection that month, we may have to postpone.

I am looking for a gift idea for him. I was thinking a nice watch and have it engraved, but that seems so boring. DH will not wear any other jewelry, rings, bracelets, chain, etc...other than a watch and wedding band. In fact, I dont think that he could anyway, being in uniform most weekdays. We dont have kids yet and he is an avid golfer. You should also know that both of our birthdays are in October as well.

Keep the ideas coming, cause I also need an idea for a present when he pins on Major in January! (although, after 10 years and 3 promotions, I just found out recently it is customary for the military spouse to receive a gift when he's promoted...Hhhhmm)

Our 10 year anniversary is on Nov. 26th this year! First, Happy Anniversary :D

I plan on getting some pictures together from the last 10 + years and slapping them in a scrapbook. That way we both get a present as I can enjoy the album, too.

My husband is not a jewelry wearer, so this was about all I could think of apart from a trip...which hopefully we'll take together someday for our anniversary.

Maybe something golf related since your husband likes golf? How about lessons from a golf pro??? or new clubs???

Golf related would be hard....he has everything, and DFIL is a former semi-pro. I also was thinking of something more lasting, you know. But, I like the scrapbook idea as I am a scrapper, and he never comes in that spare bedroom I use as it is scary! I definitely could go through all our photos and put something together.

Thanks for steering me in that direction!

I just had to LOL at your post ... I posted quite a similar post earlier this month (or maybe late last month). Our 10th anniversary was May 7th! AND ... we anded up spending the night in the hospital with my mom and our son in the room! LOL!

Our son (1st child) was born 3 weeks early the day before our 10th anniversary and 3 days before Mother's Day!

We also had a cruise planned that we had to cancel. We submitted our application for adoption on 12/31/2003 and were matched a week later to have a due date of 5/25! Good thing we cancelled our cruise!

Ok ... sorry to ramble, no advice (due to lack of sleep) but, I had to lol since I asked same question recently!

Good luck ... we also give each other disney $$$ to use on the cruise and at WDW. That may be an idea? Obviously, you probably want to do more than that, but maybe a goodie basket with all types of things inside?

Does your husband use alot of suits/jackets? Maybe you could get him a nice one and make dinner reservations. That way you can get dressed up for the night and the both of you can spend a romantic time together.

My husband loves good knives. I bought a folding pocket knife from Cold Steel. It was about $40.00. I think that's probably one of his favorite gifts that I've given him.

I think you should reconsider the nice watch. That's what I got my dh for our 10th anniversary. He wears it everyday and I like to think he thinks of me whenever he checks the time :D .

Just b/c it's not exciting doesn't mean it can't be a great gift.

Thanks gang! I may be able to do a couple of things....the scrapbook shouldnt be too much work for me...it'll be fun. And maybe I will do the watch. I kinda already know what I might get it engraved with.

The suit idea and dinner sound very romantic, but unforunately DH wouldnt get much use out of a suit. He wears his uniform everyday and dress blues or mess dress for special work occasions. Although a surprise weekend away....

If we do end up on the cruise, I plan on doing one of their special honeymoon/anniversary packages where we will get whole bunches of special stuff....special dinner in, special pictures, spa activities, etc!

I'm glad you like the scrapbook idea. You never know...some people scrap and some will have nothing to do with it! I got the CM red 7 x 7 album with a heart on it and sent it off to be engraved by their engraving service. It turned out very well. Now I have to slap in some pictures! Have fun and happy anniversary this year again!

We're not normally big "gift-givers" with respect to one another, but I do recall that I did something "special" for my spouse on our 8th wedding anniversary.

I guess it's sorta cheesy, but he liked it:

I picked him up a couple small gifts related to his interests, gave him 8 cards (variety of funny, serious, homemade). But the "biggie" was that after working 12 hours all night the night before, I came home and cooked him several of his favorite things that I basically never cooked because I disliked all these particular items.

When it came time for his lunch break at work, I showed up with a HUMONGOUS plate of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, creamed corn and bread. For dessert, I made several dozen German chocolate cupcakes (with pecan and coconut frosting) for his department to share.

I was exhausted when I had to turn around and go back to work for another 12 hours that night, but he really appreciated the meal and the thought and care and lack of sleep that went into it.

Anyway, just an idea that came to mind.
