My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on 9/28/06.

We've agreed that we want to take a trip to celebrate, and we'll be bringing the girls (who will be 8). DH says, "NO Disney". :confused3

So, we tentatively book a Southern Carribean cruise (visiting Aruba - where we Honeymooned) for 9/24. Then people start talking me out of it because it's hurricane season. Now I'm thinking about cancelling. I don't want to be stuck in San Juan waiting for the boat to depart and it never does. Nor do I want a cruise in rough seas. I would buy the insurance for the trip but is it worth the risk?

Now we're wondering what to do. Where else could we go that's warm, relaxing, that has stuff for the kids to do and stuff for us adults to do.

Should I take the risk and book the trip? :confused3

What do you think?

Your anniversary is on my DD's birthday!

We are booked on a Disney Cruise the week before actually. Its a good price and its a good time to pull DS out of school. So if thats what you want to do...go! Just buy insurance, just in case. Another option:

We took the kids twice, to The Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos. Its kind of pricey, but we all had a great time. There are kids clubs if you want alone time too. We hope to go to the one in Jamaica in a couple years.

Happy Anniversary

Mine isnt for 3 more years but I have already been trying to decide where to go. We honeymooned in Hawaii and I always planned on going back. I love it there but the 5 hour time change was hard to adjust to.
I would also love to go to Cabo. Never been there but the pictures I have seen were beautiful.
I would also love to Poland and the Czech republic. Dh is both so it would be a great chance to see his heritage.

This year is my 10 year anniversary too in May. I want to go to Disney again we are in the planning stage now. I don't think a cruise would be good for us since dh can't swim and I have a fear of boats (ships) I don't know why I just do. I can swim like a fish but boats scare me to death.

I just lived through Wilma when it hit Mexico, so I personally would not travel during hurricane season again. However, it is a bit different when you're talking about a cruise. So long as the ports aren't damaged, the cruiseship can steer around hurricanes. If you are worried about hurricanes, what about the Pacific side of Mexico. I don't think they get hurricanes over there.

Disney Cruise!! It's Disney, but not WDW or DL "Disney". Your dh would really enjoy it. I wouldn't worry too much about hurricanes. Like someone said earlier, the ships know how to avoid them. Plus the rates are cheaper! Check the Dis Cruise board for info on cruising during hurricane season.

how about Hawaii or Alaska cruises? THat's what we are hoping for for our 10th!

I think the cruise idea is the best way to go in order to incorporate activity, stuff for adults and kids, and relaxation.
Our 10th Anniversary is in 08 and we're planning a Baltic cruise. It'll be our last hurrah before having kids too.

Our 10th anniversary is also next year 8/17. We had originally thought about going to Hawaii, but couldn't imagine that plane ride with the kids (and I don't want to leave them for that long). So we decided on a disney cruise. We are going on the 7 day Eastern in May.
