We got back to London last night after a wonderful four nights at HNY, and since I can't start my TR until I'm reunited with my laptop in Tuesday I thought I'd share some quick highs and lows.
Highs
HNY - We'd sent an email mentioning it was my birthday and the anniversary of our engagement, asking if we could possibly have a park view room, and it worked! We got a huge room on the top floor with two massive windows and views of DLH, the Christmas tree, thr castle and Space Mountain.
Weather - Apart from yesterday we were dry for the most part. It was bitter cold Tues-Thurs but it was worth it for the blue skies and sunshine - plus there were some amazing icicles around!
Cast & Characters - All of the characters we encountered were perfect, and on the whole the staff were on top form too. A lot better than last year.
Food - Nearly all of the food we ate, including fast food and snacks, was fresh and tasty. I tried lots of new cocktails (alongside the customary Glowtini or two!) and was really impressed by the prices and variety in the Sports Bar.
Christmas - The atmosphere was lovely as always. In particular I loved the tree lighting this year. Short but sweet, and the snow combined with Chante C'est Noel got me choked up every time.
Lows
Studios - On Wednesday we park-hopped to find Rock'n'Rollercoaster, the tram tour, Armageddon and the magic carpets closed, meaning wait times on Crush soared compared to last year. The atmosphere in general was even more lacking than usual.
Big Thunder Mountain - Lots of unexplained, erratic closures and clueless cast members. One evening we started queuing but had ti turn back as it was closed yet again despite having just been reopened. FPs weren't open until Thursday afternoon for some unknown reason.
Rude People - We noticed the rude behaviour of other guests more this trip. One older woman asked.if she could have a seat at our table outside Caseys, and since she was struggling to stand we welcomed her, however she then chain smoked whilst we tried to eat our dinner - disgusting! People encouraged their children to sit on our feet/push in front whilst watching parades, and got pretty viscious with their buggies. So unnecessary and rude.
Inventions - The food was better than last year, but the charaters were few and far between.
On the whole it was lovely, and the lows were more niggles than anything else. We tried some new attractions and had some very good timing. I'll save the rest for my TR which I should be starting next week!
