It's that time of year again, my dd5 who's in pre-k is about to celebrate the 100th day of school. We are supposed to create something with 100 things on it, it can be a shirt, poster etc. I need a really good idea. I read some of the threads from past years, but I was hoping for something new and different. I know you guys will come through for me!

Thanks in advance

Laura

My 1st grader had that this past week. I took a picture of her at night against a dark sky and blew it up to print on a full size (8-1/2 x 11) sheet of paper. We bought little tiny star stickers (in the scrapbook section at Walmart) and she stuck 100 stars in the sky all around her picture. It was very cute.

Probably not super new & unique, but DD had a great time with it-we bought fabric glue and gems. She glued 100 jewels to a sweatshirt. It was a lot of fun, and very simple. Be sure you get a good fabric glue and make it well enough in advance that it has time to dry properly.

DD6 and I just made a paper chain. 10 sheets of different colored construction paper, each cut into 10 strips. It didn't take long and was unique in her class. it fits into a plastic grocery sack.

If your DD has long hair and you both have enough patience, you could put in 100 little pony tails. then pull all of them back into one big ponytail.

All of your projects sound so great! They're all very different from each other too! Great ideas! My DS--1st grade--has to take 100 items (same thing) AND dress as if he's 100 years old! Any suggestions as to how to dress him as if he's 100 years old?:)

One DS made a necklace with 100 beads on it.

My other DS made a house out of a box, then put a string of 100 Christmas lights on it (that wasn't easy, I think we used alot of packing tape!).

In our school we have to put 100 things on a poster board. My DS came up with using 100 cheerios and making a picture.

I like the paper chain idea!

When my twin daughters were in kindergarten they were supposed to decorate a shirt, but I wanted to be able to wash it easily. So, we drew 100 smiley sunshines on one shirt and 100 red hearts of various sizes on the other. Then we wrote 100th day of school small on the front and big on the back. It was fun

When my dd was in kdg, the 100th day fell right around Valentine's Day, and we had gotten a whole tub of foam hearts to use for her valentines. With the leftover hearts, she made a picture of green grass and blue sky out of poster board and then made 100 flowers using the foam hearts. It was very sweet! Some other ideas that came from that room included 100 tootsie rolls on poster board (I think I remember them organized into the number 100), a picture made from 100 different beans, poster board with 100 words cut out of magazines, etc....

Also, we made sugar cookies for the class in the shape of buses, iced them with yellow trimmed in black, and put "100" on each one (like that was the bus number). The kids loved that!

DS is in 1st grade and has to bring the 100 items in again like in K - I wanted something different this year, too. I saw in Parents magazine this week that they had done a huge cookie - they used sugar cookie refrigerated dough - rolled it out into a big cookie and then they put 100 chocolate chunks into the cookie and baked it - they decorated it by writing on it "100th Day of School" - ds really liked it, but I didn't know if it would fly for the project because it's something they display in the hallway, but his teacher loved the idea and said they'd take a picture of his and then the class could eat it! Tammy

My son had to bring in 100 things in first grade last year. They didn't need to be glued to anything. He brought in 100 Boxtops for Education. We had been saving them up, and this kind of killed two birds with one stone! (and he was the only one who brought in Boxtops that day too!)

For DS they sent home an oversized piece of construction paper and they had to glue 100 items of something to it. We went to the dollar store and bought a 100 piece puzzle. We put the puzzle together and glued it on the poster. His teacher loved it. She's had puzzle pieces before, but no one had ever put the puzzle together; it was two skills in one.

A pair of oversized pants pulled up with a belt over a button down shirt and a tie. Get him a cardigan sweater and a pair of hush puppies shoes and a old man style hat. A walking cane will complete the outfit.

One year we got 100 multi colored paperclips and glued them to posterboard to make a scene with a house, tree and birds and spelled out 100 with them. It turned out really cute! Too bad my son's teacher forgot to put it out on display with the other ones and left it rolled up in the grocery bag in the corner

last year my son had to dress like he was 100 for the 100th day of school. I bought colored hair spray from the party store, and made his hair grey. I took an old pair of my fathers glasses and took out the lens. Then I put him in a cardigan sweater, with a button down shirt under it. I put him in a pair of khaki pants. He also took an old walker that my grandmother had used (there was a cane at the party store, but opted for the FREE walker than spending money for the cane) He was such a hit!! Good Luck

It's probably too late but last year my daughter brought in 100 Box Tops for Education. We outlined the number 100 on a poster board and attached the Box Tops inside of the numbers with double sided tape so that they could easily be removed.

The other kids in the class didn't really get it but the teacher and PTO LOVED it!

Hi! Teacher here. :teacher:

My 1st graders have this same assignement.

Some easy things:

100 Legos to build a house
100 popsicle sticks to make a house
100 beads strung in a pattern to make a necklace

My own DS made a huge Bionicle from 100 Bionicle pieces.

Great! Thanks for the ideas of dressing like a 100 year old man! It was just what I was looking for!:cool1:

We sent in a posterboard with my sons picture in the center wearing a mickey tshirt... and around the outside I had printed out the "thumbnail" pictures of him at Disney... 99 of them with characters and generally having a ball at "the world"
It was a great project cause we laughed and giggled and talked all about our trip while we did it. :) Only problem was we had way more than 100 pics with him in it and he had a hard time chosing!

All great ideas!

This year my DS7's 100th day was also "Black and Gold" day to support the New Orleans Saints.

We purchased a $5 sweatshirt and bought the Avery iron-on sheets. I printed "Geaux Saints" on the front with 50 small Saints helmets and "All The Way" on the back with another 50 small Saints helmets. He was covered for both 100 days and Black and Gold day.

We had also done this in the past in Pre-K where we put "100 Days Of School" on the front and the school name and date on the back with 100 stars....50 on each side.

Make sure to read the iron-on instructions carefully if you go this route.
