$100 per person for ONE DAY?

So to experience Harry Potter for one day it is $200? And that's not even adding in food /souveniers. Ouch.

I wasn't expecting that little surprise on my Disney trip budget

Harry Potter is just one land in Islands of Adventure...so you're not paying $100 to access Harry Potter, you're paying to access the entire park.

Its like saying you're going to pay $100 to visit Tomorrowland.

Well you can get the 1 Day Base ticket without Park to Park for $92.68 with tax. I assume that will get you into the HP world...

It's really expensive to do ANY Orlando theme park for one day. Look at the prices of Disney, Busch Gardens, Sea World, etc. It's the multi day tickets that become a little more reasonable.

We're staying on site at Universal in May and getting the cheap season passes. For my family of 3 it's only $600(ish) or about $25 per day each. MUCH cheaper than Disney.

That's how you do it. Even regular tickets -- the three- and four-day park-to-park tickets at Universal are less than half the price of a three-day WDW park hopper.

I wouldn't go for a single day to Disney OR Universal if I had to pay the single-day price.

we were going to do 2 days, till I told dh 3 days is only $6 more! So now we're doing 3 days! But we're not going to the motherland this trip!

We found $99 -14 day tickets in 2010, we went a few months after HP opened.. Woohoo! What a deal, even though we only used 5 days of the 14. More recently, $170- 14 day tickets.

While Universal has been creeping up on Disney in quality and entertainment value, (very close at this point, imo) Disney has never offered ticket discounts like that.

If you go for one day, it's outrageous, as are any of the other major parks around Orlando.

I don't either..Universal is like Disney..in it to make money, and the more you stay the more economical it is.People get so upset over on themepark forum about the cost of Universal tickets as if Universal should be dirt cheap or something

Actually Universal is significantly cheaper than Disney. A one day ticket to Disney or Universal is $85. To add a second day to your Disney ticket it will cost you $84. To add a second day to your US ticket it will cost you $30. A 2 day 1 park ticket if purchased online through US is $115. A 2 day Disney ticket is $169.

We have such a long stay planned at Universal coming up (6 nights...I know that's nothing to you macraven, but to others it's long ), and the night we get in we chose to stay at a DVC villa, and chose Boardwalk, and now the "we're sooooooo close to Epcot the first full day" thing is hitting. We weren't going to hit WDW *at all* until that started!

For the 3 of us it would be almost $300 for that one day...but we love the Norway bakery, and DS is studying China, and I could use a Grand Marnier slushie...and Sunshine Seasons is good...but nearly $300?????


No matter what park you choose, doing it for ONE day is mega-bucks!

We stayed at the Boardwalk DVC in September for a week and really enjoyed it! Loved the proximity to the two parks....just like at Universal.

We still have 4 of those in our back pockets. We knew when Potter opened it would certainly cause an increase so we stocked up on those.

We used two of them shortly after Potter opened and have four of them for future trips.

I originally felt that way too. But then I looked up all the other things there are to do at IOA. And I did some research and realized that most other parks are about the same price when you only go for one day.

Busch Gardens is $80 for a one-day ticket.
Seaworld is $82.
Disney is $90.
Legoland is $75.
Discovery Cove is $129+.

Even the parks that are within driving distance of my house, which are much smaller and don't offer as many "big" attractions, are at least $60 for a one-day ticket.

And like almost everywhere else, the more days you go, the cheaper the price is per day. You can get an unlimited 14-day pass to both Universal parks and Wet & Wild for $175.

I spent 3 days in the parks, and I felt like I got a great experience for the money. It was expensive, but it was worth the money and I would do it again.

Also, I didn't look up food prices before I went, and I was pleasantly surprised to find I didn't have to spend nearly as much money on food as I thought I would.

lol. We stayed with a timeshare swap, so I can't comment on the price. Disneyland then WDW then Universal? That is wonderful!!!! We adore Disneyland!

Due to my father's passing last August, and then burial in Florida in December (he was cremated), we had to change a planned three day visit to Universal to one day. We went from two days at IOA and one at Universal to one day to do both parks. We decided to stay one night at RPR to get early entry to WWOHP and front of the line privileges.

In the end we spent over a thousand dollars for five people to spend the night and enter the parks, plus whatever we spent on food and souvenirs. We had a great time and I feel that is was worth every penny.
