Anyone tried 100% Kona Coffee French Press Pot? Is it that good? From some pictures it seems it is quite huge in size. Can I order just one to share between DW and myself?

It is VERY good and you can easily share, although you might not want to...;) My DH usually orders one pot and drinks the whole thing through the meal then we order another pot for desert, I get one cup he gets the rest...Yes he drinks alot of coffee. Last time he poured the last cup into a togo cup and enjoyed it watching fireworks.

It is very good. We order one pot and share, but we are not huge coffee drinkers. I would say one pot is enough for four restaurant size cups.

We've never had the Kona Coffee French Press Pot, but we have a French Press coffee pot at home and DH religiously uses it - like on a daily basis. We have a drip coffee maker but only use it when we have company. I have to be honest and say that French Pressed coffee is far better than any other coffee I've had - well, except for espresso & cappuccino and we have one of those machines too! :) We REALLY, REALLY like French pressed coffee. The flavor of the coffee is just so much better when it's pressed.

We're coffee snobs. DH even tied my engagement ring to a coffee mug and proposed to me by saying, "I want to spend every morning of the rest of my life waking up and having coffee with you. Will you marry me?"

Try the French pressed coffee. You will love it!!!

DH and I shared one and it was enough for one cup each. The coffee was wonderful. In fact, it was so good I now have a french press and 2 bags of Kona in the cabinet.

Does anyone know if I can order the French Press pot as my beverage on the DDP? We will be on the deluxe plan.

Thanks!

My only problem when we ordered our first french press pot at AKL a few years ago, was that the coffee got COLD really fast. And I like, I mean really like hot coffee. The second it gets cold at home, it goes right into the microwave. I'd love to try it again at AKL in April, because I really like great coffee, but what about the getting cold thing, does that happen to everyone else? And does it bother you?

No, it will not count as our beverage for the DDP, but it is worth the extra money if you want to try it. Also, if you happen to hit Boma they have a press pot of Kenyan coffee that I think is much better than the Kona.......although the Kona is very very good, I just like the Kenyan blend a little better.

I have never really noticed that problem, but I guess it just depends on the ambient temperature of the room since the press pot is just a thin glass shell does not insulate very well.

Thank you everyone :) We will definitely try it.

We will be on DDP in March and was told (in this board) that French Press Pot is not included (they considered as specialty coffee). we would like to try it therefore planning to order one pot to share between DW and me. Glad to know we can share since I know some restaurants have policy/restrictions about sharing food/drinks.

We were at WDW in November and we asked if it was included under the DDP and was told that it was. :confused3

Regular coffee is included with the DDP, but the press pot is not because it is a very expensive specialty coffee. The press pot is around $7-$8, and the regular coffee is $2. Did you actually order it or just ask about it?? Did you ask for "coffee" or were you specific and say press pot?? There is a difference in the two different coffees, and I know I have always been charged for the press pot in the past.

There is nothing in the world like Kona coffee. After going to Hawaii, we got a business card for a farmer and we get Kona coffee shipped to us. Definitely try it!

I got a pressed pot, well actually 2, because the first one had loose grounds floating in what should have been just the drinkable coffee part of the pot and needed to be reassembled. I was not charged separately for it and when I originally asked for it, I said that I knew that I had to pay for it and the waitress said that it was included on the DDP.

I guess you got a server who was very generous....or maybe willing to give away Disney's profit to increase her tip. I wish I could get one of those servers. :lmao: We always have the one who knows all the rules and sticks to them....one of those rules being specialty coffees are not included on the DDP. Luck may not allow you to get that same treatment from a different server on your next visit.......but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!:rotfl:

Yes, it is that good! We thought it was delicious! I actually ejoyed it more than my meal at the Kona Cafe!

Also, when we ordered it in 2007 our server did include it as part of our DDP instead of our regular beverage. I didn't even ask her, she just said that it would be cheaper for us to pay oop for my diet soda, she said she will add the press pot onto our DDP, which I was suprised because of the cost. But, that is what happened. Just ask them, I am not sure if it was a fluke or not, but like I said she was the one who mentioned it to us, I was not even aware that we were able to do that. By the way...it was added in place of my soda only, not my DH's.

Well, I hope this works for me in November......I am not gonna hold my breath though since I have always been charged for the press pot. Sounds like one of typical problems with DDP over the years; some of the servers will give things to customers when it is specifically not included just to increase the bill total which in turn increases the tip. This practice ultimately results in changes to the DDP like we have seen this year with the removal of appetizer and tip......nothing is ever free and all freebies cost you in the end.

Yes, it is possible that some servers may do things that they are not supposed to at times, but that can happen anywhere. When she did that, I thought, wow...I didn't realize this was part of the DDP, so it was a pleasant suprise, when she did that, I figured it was part of it. Just like some places offer milk shakes or smoothies.

I don't consider it a feebie, I paid for the DDP and did not ask for it, nor expect it. It just happened, so be it.

Getting something not paid for is a freebie......and if a person gets one, great for them, but that freebie is not a standard part of the DDP.......I pay for the DDP every year, but if a server gives me something I know is not included I consider it a freebie. I have seen servers over the last few years learn how to work the system to increase their tips, which includes allowing customers to order items not covered by the rules of the DDP. Again, if you have gotten one great, but I just don't want people to expect it then come back here complaining when the rules are enforced during their trip. The press pot is not an included item on the DDP.....if anyone is able to get it, it's just because the server gave you a freebie! Here is text I copied from WDW website followed by the link:

1 Table-service Meal
1 adult table-service meal includes 1 entrée and 1 dessert (lunch or dinner only), 1 juice (breakfast only) and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage, or 1 full buffet. 1 child table-service meal includes 1 appetizer, 1 entrée, 1 dessert (lunch or dinner only) and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage, or 1 full buffet. Children ages 3-9 must order from a Children's Menu where available.
1 Quick-service Meal
1 quick-service meal includes 1 entrée or 1 complete Combo Meal, 1 dessert (lunch or dinner only) or 1 juice (breakfast only) and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage. Children ages 3-9 are limited to the Children's Menu (if one is available) at quick-service restaurants.
1 Snack
1 snack includes one of the following: frozen ice cream novelty, popsicle, fruit bar, popcorn scoop (single serving box), single serving grab bag of chips, single piece of whole fruit, 20-oz. bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or Dasani water, medium fountain soft drink or juice, 12-oz. coffee, hot chocolate or hot tea.

I highlighted in green the part that pertains to the topic in this thread.

These are the Disney guidelines, but if you are lucky maybe a server will give you a bonus.......aka. freebie. And if they do, I am happy for my fellow DIS'er!!!!!:woohoo:
