If you have a WesBanco in your area (West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania), they are running a promotion right now through June 15th. You sign up for a free checking account with a $50 min opening amount and they give you $50 in 28 days. Then if you use the free debit card 10 times with in the first 90 days they give you another $50.
There are no fees to open, or to maintain the account as long as the minimum amount is kept and no fees for the Debit card when it is used as a credit card. You have to keep the account open for 90 days or there is an early closing fee.
This is limited to 1 account per customer but not per household and the minimum age is 16 to open a checking account.
The whole process took abut 10 minutes to sign up. I will be sending my wife down later today to get her account.
I don't know if you can sign up online or over the phone.
