10 yr rule?

I was reading a thread about a 10 yr rule.....

seems some RV or camp spots have a 10 year rule, meaning if your rig is over 10 yrs old you are not welcomed!!

my rig is a 1996, but IN DARN GREAT SHAPE and I dont see me getting another one for another 10 yrs (I love the tag axle)

surely Disney dosent have this rule

have any of you ever run into this?

also seen a RV park that had "NO KIDS ALLOWED" good thing I left my RPG at home that day

Disney welcomes anyone with a Checkbook / Wallet. I have seen all tyes and kinds of Campers at the Fort.

Good thing Disney doesn't enforce this rule. My unit is well over 10 years old!!

I have seen thoes on the travel channel they are mostly out west and very upscale resorts. Not sure about this but I think I read somewhere that if you have a restored classic they may make exceptions but you had to send pictures with your res. request.

I won't be showing up there mine turned 31 this year and I have no plans to ever get rid of it.

I have heard of this a lot on RV.net. I think it is mostly the "resort" RV parks. My 5th wheel is less that 10 years old, but I'm not interested in staying at the type of place that would feel the need to make such rules.

Some Outdoor Resorts have to approve your rig before you're allowed to stay.

Yes, I have come across many that have the 10yr rule. I have also been to parks websites that were 55 and over. I looked at one today here in Michigan that was Class A only. There are many in Michigan with the 10 yr rule, and many that only let class A and 5th wheels.

But as previously stated, those were more the resort type parks and that is what they cater too so to each their own.

There building a RV resort on the island close to were I live and I here it will only be for the class A and some real nice 5th wheels..... I guess they can count me out!! There are plenty of nice RV resorts that don't have that classification!

Kinda smells of discrimination.

The owner's business, the owner's rules...sure but if the "owner" said No Disabled Persons or No Military Veterans, ect....Still the owner's business.

No, it's not against the law to discriminate against vehicles, but to me they are hiding behind the 10 year rule to to make sure the "right" kind of people stay there.

Imagine the cost per night after you factor in all the empty slots! I guess "discriminating" RVers can afford such things, and be rewarded with only having to look at other "discriminating" RVers RVs, and not my '63 Grumman!

Remember, if the RVers werent asking for it, the park owners wouldnt be supplying it...

I think saying they are discriminating is jumping the gun a little. Lets face, in the RV industry you have RVs to fit everyones budget, from pop ups to high end class A's costing big bucks, more than I could ever afford.

The owners of parks with the 10 year rule, class A rule, etc are going after a particular sector of the wide range of RVs out there.

There is a park here in Michigan that I planned on visiting but then when I called I was told they do not allow pets. No big deal, I just found another park to stay at.

As I have mentioned, I have no problem with the 10 year rule and yes, IMO, it is discrimination. So what!

If a park had a rule stating only Class A, 45', with drivable tag axle MHs no older than 5 years old were allowed, so what!

Only quad-slide MHs allowed, so what.

My point is that the owner can do as desired with those type of restrictions. Who knows, maybe the owner is a bazillionaire and doesn't need the income so 99% empty sites is not a problem.

I can't comprehend why the 10 year rule should bother anyone.

BTW, I prefer Gulden's Spicy Brown.
