Hi,
I am going to Disney world for the first time, I am quite excited!
My daughter turned 10 three months ago, and I noticed that it is $20-30 more to buy her an entrance ticket.
Can I not purchase her a ticket for ages 3-9, or do they check the ages of the child?
Is there an age limit on some of the rides?
I am reading the message boards, trying to learn as much as I can.
Thanks so much for your help!
(Did I mention that I'm excited? LOL)

Sounds like a matter of conscience and whether or not you think it's fair for others who are honest and pay the price determined for their child's actual age. Sorry, I don't mean to be harsh. But the more people that do this, then the more motivated for DL to raise their ticket prices even more to compensate.

Just my 2 cents, and I am glad you're so excited for your trip! :goodvibes

My first thoughts when reading your thread were, I understand where you would like to save some $, as it seems there is little difference between 9 and 10.
Disney does have to have a cut off at some point, 9 years old and under are afforded certain perks that older children are not. Along with a less expensive ticket.
It hardly seems fair to countless other families that observe this rule.
I guess my main thought is; is it worth 20/30$ to ask your child to lie or to have your child see you lie to a CM if you were asked their age? :confused3
just a thought :)

Please do not come here and ask if it's OK to cheap the system. We will tell you no. We've had APs for the past 2 years, the AP price is the same no matter the age of your child so for the past 2 years my DD9 has been the same price as her older sister. It's not that much more, please do not try to cheat Disney, please pay the requested ticket prices for your DD10.

You can but it's cheating. Maybe if his birthday was during the trip. ( I have had this happen) but otherwise it's cheating

I agree with the others though I do get it. I hardly consider my 10 y.o. an adult, lol.

I think they are going less by age but more by how many rides a person that age could ride. Your average 10 year old would be tall enough to go on any ride, wearas a younger shorter child would probably not be able to ride many rides. That's my take on it anyway. So not an adult they take up just as many adult spaces

That makes sense. I just always stumble when I think initially of how many adult & how many children tickets we need, etc.

I guess a similar example is that the water park we go to charges by height vs. age. Kind of odd when you first read it-but the taller people go on more stuff & take up more space is what I figure.

Did the OP say DWorld? Lol doesn't change the facts but still thought it was humorous :goodvibes

As I recall they don’t ask for proof of age, but I have seen cast
members ask the child how old they are.

I agree with LuLusApple. Is coaching your 10 year old to lie about
their age worth saving the $30? If you’re okay with that, then I
think you’ll get away with the childs ticket.

I have a 10 year old myself this year & would prefer not to pay the extra $$ for his ticket BUT the rules are the rules & we are going to follow them. IF by chance we were asked how old my son was I could never see myself lying about his age right in front of him to save some $$. Can't say for sure wether they will ask but what if they do?
Enjoy your trip!!! We are super excited about our upcoming trip as well! :woohoo:

My son, who is now 13 and bigger than many grown men, still remembers his trip when he was 10 and we coined the phrase "Disney Adult". He was even big back then and would have never passed as a 9 yr old. We were actually on a trip to WDW instead of DL and using the Dining Plan. Since he was considered an adult, I wouldn't let him order from the kid's menu. He had a blast trying all kinds of new menu items and discovering new things he liked to eat. Now that I think about it, that has backfired on me. My kid is much happier with steak and lobster than chicken fingers and french fries. :headache:

But we still joke about him being a Disney Adult.

I agree that nine is not an adult but when my boys turned 9 I bought adult tickets for them. The 20 - 30 dollar savings is not worth not telling the truth to me.
