10 year old wants kid meals!

I am taking my DD(10) to Disney in a few weeks and would like to make some dining reservations. I assume she will not be able to order from the kids menu but she most likely won't want anything on the adult menu. What are other people's experience with this? Thanks.

depends on the restaurant. some will allow anyone regardless of age to order off the kids menu. some will not. mostly, it appears, Signatures and those that are NOT Disney run.

of course you pay adult prices at any Buffets/Character places regardless of what she eats.

They never turned down our kids when they were "over" age -although as indicated above, it does happen. My opinion is that I should be able to purchase for myself if I wanted without being questioned.

Are you on the DDP? If so, you may wish to pay OOP for your child's kids meal anywhere you are allowed to order these and save the adult credits and add on another TS meal.

Most places will work with you to ensure your child is happy. Many will do an adult portion of chicken tenders or whatever for an adult price. Most will adapt a meal to suit your child. Simple pasta and sauce instead of seafood or whatever else may go into it.

We are not on the Dining plan. If we pay a little more but get the "kid" friendly food, she'll be happy. They may not even question us but unfortunately, she doesn't look 9 years old anymore.

How old does your child look? I ordered off the kids menus until I was well past the ridiculous cutoff of age 9). Ten is so close to nine that unless she looks much older I would think she'd be ok. I would make the reservations for one adult and one child and act as if nothing is any different. Just my 2 cents, I don't feel that a ten year old eats like an adult and most aren't going to be into the adult food. That is one area that IMO Disney does a poor job with kids just to make a few extra bucks.

We were at WDW, this past October, and after snacking thru the day there were occasions that I really didn't want an adult meal. We did a lot of snacking at the Food and Wine Festival. I asked for a kids menu and they were very happy to comply. I had no issues, just had to request a kids menu.
FYI, we were not on the DDP, and had we went to a buffet or family style, I would have had to pay the adult cost.

My 11 year old didn't have any trouble eating off the kids menu. We were paying OOP so were not on the DDP, but we at ate 2 to 3 TS meals a day for 3 weeks and most meals my DS had the kids menu. The only time he paid as an adult was at the buffets (or family style, like Ohana and Garden Grill).

He had kids menu at Garden Grill (even though we had to pay for him as an adult), Le Cellier, Chefs des France, Via Napoli, Kouzzina, Teppan Edo, Yachtmas Steakhouse, Coral Reef, Plaza, Jiko, Mara, 50's Prime Time, Sci Fi, TRex, Rainforest Cafe, Wolfgang Pucks Express, there were other places but I can't remember off hand. We asked for the kids menu and it was never a problem

My wife, obviously well over 9 years old, almost always orders from the kids menu at quick service restaurants. She does not like spices and does not have a large appetite. Some of the table service restaurants comply and some do not. When we used the DDP, she had to order from the adult menu at table service restaurants, and it was a complete waste of food and money for her. Our son, 10 y/o, was permitted to order from the kid's menu at all except the buffets.

Sure can! As long as they are adult credits and you are all on the plan they are yours to use... Enjoy

Don't worry about it, nobody is going to blink an eye at your 10 year old daughter ordering off the kids menu. My 15 year old still orders off the kids menu sometimes.

I've seen posts from people here where they were refused a kid's menu item for their kids who were over 9 years old. It was Plaza Inn at the Magic Kingdom. The cast members would not budge on the issue, which really surprised me.
