We used the DDP in December and loved it. For that trip all 3 kids were considered kids. For our March trip next year my oldest will be 10 so she will have an adult DDP.

I have been perusing menus and some of the places we were considering I don't see a lot of things she would like on the adult menu. I know I'd be wasting money (but I'd rather her enjoy her meal and I definately like the ease of the DDP, pre paying, etc) but on some occasions could she order a kids meal with her adult credit? Or how flexible have you found table services to be to perhaps order the grilled chicken without the sauce or what have you? I just think some of the entrees I am seeing are not basic enough for her tastes. She likes filet and pork tenderloin or chicken but just grilled, not a lot of sauces or extra "stuff" on it.

Thanks for your opinions!

WDW restaurants are generally very accomodating as far as modifying menu items to suit individual tastes. They shouldn't have any problem leaving sauces off of entrees or substituting sides to suit her tastes. I've also heard that most, if not all, will almost always allow her to order off the children's menu--usually bringing a larger portion at a higher price (which shouldn't matter to you, since you'll be on the ddp). Another option that has worked for others is ordering her appetizer and dessert from the adult menu, but the entree from the children's. And of course family style and buffet meals she can eat whatever she'd like. Good luck!

We went last Dec too and also had the DDP.

My son ordered from the kids meal even though he is an adult for DDP and that was not a problem.

I always find that they try to be as accomodating as they can when making alterations to how the dish is prepared. For example, holding a sauce or substituting a side. Not sure if they can change how something is cooked.

We also had a good experience with our DS12 on the DDP back in January. They gave him an extra portion of a child's meal the one night and the Kona Cafe gave him "Plain" steak with the pineapple on the side (wouldn't eat in on top but ate if off the side? KIDS!) and fries intead of potatoes.
We also ate at several buffet meals because I would have been stuck paying the adult price for him even if I wasn't on the DDP. There were large selections at the buffet and my DS9 could eat "adult" items while DS12 ate "child" items. LOL! :)

My now 10 yo orders off the adult menu, but only likes plain stuff. We've substituted fries for sides (but not a Le Cellier, they're the only mashed potatoes in Disnely she eats), and had steaks and fillets prepared without sauces with no problem. Last week, Le Cellier even put the mashed potatoes on the side, instead of under the sauce-less fillet. I like doing that because inevitably, something new sneaks in and she ends up liking.
