Ok, as you can see from my signature we are regular attenders to WDW. Each year we eat at several sit-down restaurants that include a few mainstays (Le Cellier, Sci-Fi, Garden Grill). This year our son just turned 10 (in December) and we are planning meals at Garden Grill, Sci-Fi, Whispring Canyan, Le Cellier and Ohana (breakfast).
I have looked at the menus from allears.net and am a bit concerned. I am mainly concerned about Le Cellier, Garden Grill and Whispering Canyon. According to these menus since he is 10 he is no longer eligible for the child menu. However very little (if any) of what is on the "adult" menu is something he is likly to eat. I understand the reason to charge adult prices for these growing kids at the all you can eat places (Garden Grill, Whispering Canyon, and Ohana), but are they still forced to eat the adult menu, or can they still get the stuff that is on the kids side.
Le Cellier presents a slightly different issue. I have also looked over that menu, and while I have done my best to try and expand the different foods that he will eat, at this point in his life he is just not going to want anything that is on the adult menu (similar issue at Whispering Canyon). I fell like my only options are either to purchase an adult entree (~$25) that he is not going to eat, or to purchase him something at one of the counter services before we go to these restaurants (preventing him from the full experience). He might eat a small portion of one of the steaks, but I really don't want to spend $25 on a steak the he is going to eat maybe a 1/4 of. Maybe he and my wife could split one of the steaks, since she never finishes hers anyway. I do have two younger kids that would likely split one of the kids meals themselves (one which is under 3), so I suppose that I could just order two kids meals and let my 10 year old have one of those, but that seems a bit dishonest. I could also just lie and say that he is 9, but that is even more dishonest. Then again it really isn't as underhanded as WDW FORCING children to eat off of the adult menu without offering at least one item that most children will actually eat.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
