Wife and I are going for our 10th anniversary in May without the kids. I'm wondering if there are any recommendations for places that do something special for anniversaries and such. I know of Coral Reef doing the divers with a sign and such, but was looking for any other special things that could be done in advance. We will be on the DDP.

So far, our tentative list consists of Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Whispering Canyon, Ohana, Boma, Crystal Palace, and Tokyo Dining/Teppan Edo(haven't decided which yet). We're doing Whispering Canyon more for the atsmosphere than the food and I'm guessing we'll do Teppan Edo because my wife likes to sit around the grill. Crystal Palace was our best meal in Dec 2007.

My wife kinda gets on my case from time to time about not doing anything special/romantic, but I'm sure I could score some points if there was something arranged for each dinner in advance. ;)

Have you thought about Victoria & Albert's, California Grill, Citricos or Narcoossee's??? As a woman myself, my 10th anniversary was a big deal. Granted we didn't take a huge vacation because I had just had surgery :(

We did decide on a nice, expensive dinner out though. It was nice and so worth the money. If we had been able to swing a trip down to Disney we would've gone to one of the above listed places.

Hope this helps!

We will be celebrating our 10th at Victoria & Albert's in a couple weeks. I'm really looking forward to it.

We dined at Yachtsman Steakhouse on our 10th. We were given a dessert plate with Happy Anniversary written on it and they gave me a long stem red rose.

On our 12th they gave us personalized menus and the dessert plate. We did not request any of this, just noted our anniverary on the ADR.

Narcoosees or the California Grill. You can see fireworks from both at night, but the California Grill has a separate viewing spot you could probably arrange for your special event. Both places are wonderful!

Victoria & Alberts is a once-in-a lifetime experience, but VERY pricey and VERY formal.

My husband took me to Victoria & Albert's for our 10th anniversary. He started off doing it for me, he left wanting to come back again for us.

It was perfect, it was romantic, it was the best meal that I've ever had, and I highly recommend it!!

We had dinner at the California Grill for our 15th Anniversary - we got to watch the MK fireworks from the viewing area outside, and they brought us a special anniversary dessert. The meal was wonderful, too!!

I'd check w/ the wedding planning place & see if they can help. I know at one point @ the GF, you could arrange for dinner on the beach. I'd see if u could still do that there or the Poly. Then, you could watch the fireworks. Or if that doesn't work, eat at one of the two places & walk down to the beach after & walk to the other resort. You can watch the fireworks on your walk. Happend to us on accident. Very romantic. There is also a company that helps plan surprise things at the parks. Its independent from Disney. If anyone knows the name, thank you. I think its fairygodmothers or pixie dust or something like that.

Another vote for California Grill - easily one of the most romantic experiences we have ever had in the World! :thumbsup2

We just got back from our 10th anniversary trip with no kids.
We went to Yachtsman, they gave us the dessert plate, the personalized menu, and treated us like royalty.
It was very nice!
The food was very good, also.

I considered some of the restaurants requiring 2 TS and it seems to me that I don't find them to be a good value. Let's say for example that in order to go to the Yachtsman, I have to give up dinner at Teppan Edo and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Our dinner at the Yachtsman would literally cost $20 more for the value of the food at Teppan Edo/WCC, not to mention the cost of the replacement CS meal @ $10.

I'll leave it up to her I guess. In my opinion, WCC and Teppan Edo are the 2 most expendable of the 7 TS choices I've selected thus far as the other 5 are pretty set. A hibatchi grill is a hibatchi grill whether it's Disney or at home and WCC food isn't anything to write home about, but the atmosphere was fun. We may make WCC a must for a lunch or something.

Anyone disagree with my logic (or lack thereof) above?

We also celebrated our 10 year at California Grill--and they took a picture of us and gave it to us for our anniversary...and the service and view were worth the 2ts credits to us! But aside from dining, a special something would be to watch Wishes from Poly beach after supper (Ohana is wonderful, but not necessarily romantic)...or walking around WS with a glass of champagne and watch Illuminations...

An added bonus for us was being on Big Thunder during Wishes and the grand finale going off while we were riding the coaster...but that is something I don't think we could have planned if we tried! That was our best 10th anniversary memory! Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Romance & Logic don't go together. If you want to do something romantic for your wife, then you'll have to stop doing the math...spend the extra money for something really special. I'm not saying to drop a ton of money. But, $150 for dinner for the two of you for something so special isn't out of bounds. Whatever you decide enjoy.

...oh, and yes, I think your logic is good--WCC, like Ohana, is wonderful but not romantic--lots of kids and lots of (fun) noise! so, if you do decide on a 2TS like Cali Grill or other, those would be good ones to try for lunch instead...or just do a CS instead of paying OOP for another TS...just my 2 cents!

We also celebrated our 10th anniversary dinner at California Grill.

You mention the value of 2TS credits for these places but your 10th anniversary only comes once in a lifetime. Do something out of the ordinary to surprise your wife.

My husband also did a scavenger hunt through Magic Kingdom that he created on his own. When I came out of the shower that morning there was a card on the bed with my 1st clue and it ended with the 10th clue of dinner at Cali Grill. Very romantic and well thought out.

If she doesn't like what all I'm planning for our 10th anniversary, I can always go and find another one who will. :rotfl2:

Not that it really matters, but our trip is actually going to be about 3 weeks prior to our actual anniversary. We're doing it while the kids are still in school the first week of May so her mom will have less time having to chase after our 3 kids, who will be 6, 5, and 2 at the time of the trip. I figure on our actual anniversary date, I'll take her our to a 2 TS priced place in town. We figured grandma would keep her sanity a little more having a lot more free time in the morning than having all 3 of them the entire day.

We went to V & A with my sis & BIL for our anniversaries and it was lovely. :lovestruc It is definitely a dining experience and takes a couple of hours, but when you're paying that much, it should be an experience. :thumbsup2

For out 10th we went to Narcoosee's and had a lovely time as well. Lobster. :lovestruc We were able to time our reservation to finish and go outside to see the fireworks. It was so romantic.

I would give up at dinner at Whispering Canyon for a two credit meal at California Grill in a heartbeat. Our last meal at WC was very disappointing and VERY noisy. The food was average at best. Our meals at the Calif. Grill have always been outstanding and the service is top notch! Have a wonderful trip. Your wife is very lucky:hug:

I don't know if California Grill is our best choice. My wife isn't a big fan of filets and most of the other entrees. She's more of a NY Strip lover. I'm thinking the Yachtsman or Citricos may be the best in terms of a beef offering.

Funny story...for her birthday in our 1st or 2nd year of marriage, I took her to NYC for 4 days. We went to Sparks Steakhouse, which is considered by many to be the best steakhouse in NYC. She doesn't see "NY Strip" listed and proceeds to order crab legs(which she loved because they were king crap already cut open). I ordered the Prime Sirloin Steak. She took a bite and then started pouting because of how incredible it was. :rotfl:
